What’s your favourite story with a Bajaj two-wheeler?
more of a marketing success and shareholder value rather than engineering. How many Bajaj Pulsars have you seen in motorsports anyways. Pulsar has an image of a StuntMania bike seen on MTV, rather than motorsports bike or adventurers/touring choice.
Number of Pulsar variants would beat that of Gillette versions of razors in the market
The first motorcycle that came with fuel injection was Hero honda Glamour PGM FI in 2006...Pulsar 220 came in 2007..
My first bike. Pulsar 150.12 years of owership n still going strong
XCD125 - A 12 year old chain Sprocket made all its way from Kolkata to Darjeeling Kurseong and back with a total load of 250kg.
THAT'S A BAJAJ.
AND I TOOK IT TO ANOTHER STEP MORE BY MAKING IT OIL COOLED DTS-Si....
The motorcycle that never disappointed.
Adil's unmatched knowledge and storytelling in Evo India podcasts truly brings joy to listeners. No one else possesses such depth of historical knowledge and insights.
Yes. He's undoubtedly one the true auto enthusiast of the country. 💪
I remember thinking about the Pulsar Classic almost 10 years back, and I commented the same in one of Bajaj's social media handles. I got a response as well: Thank you for your inputs; we will get back to you.
Personally I don't think Pulsar Classic would be a competition to the RE. Bajaj should leave that to the Triumphs. Let the Pulsar be its own legend.
Here is what Bajaj needs to do to rejuvenate their brands.
1. Update the Pulsar into 2 sub-brands. The NS/RS series for liquid-cooled high performance biking (even the NS125 needs atleast 13-14bhp). Second, the Pulsar Classics with the legendary styling, which should have the original round-headed, large tank OG Pulsar 180, the bikini faired Pulsar 150 and 125 in their current look, and finally the legend 220F. Also we need more colours in the Classics (the OG purple, red, silver, blue, etc.) Only solid colours and no gaudy graphics, please.
Also Bajaj could do better with slight visual distinction between the variants. Like the 220F could be the faired one, 180 could be round headed huge tank look, the 150 can look as-is, and the 125 could do away with the tank extensions.
2. Rebrand the N/F series as the Discover. It could comprise the N250, F250, N150, and perhaps the discontinued P150 as well.
3. Update the Avenger series with better engines, perhaps KTM-derived 250 and 400, tuned for cruising.
4. Provide more colours for the Dominar 400/250 and avoid gaudy graphics.
5. In the commuter segment, let Platina do as-is. Maybe rebrand the CT as Boxer.
6. Lastly the upcoming CNG bike will be its own segment.
Of course, this is wishful thinking and Bajaj bosses will find newer ways to screw things up.
Thanks for the input. But do always remember - auto industry is a tough market , and it's always easier said than done.
@@evoIndia only tough for bajaj
Rajiv Bajaj is a legend..From shambles he took the company global..Hamara Bajaj became a global leader in two wheelers and is loved in 70 plus countries...
Sid is even bigger legend, when Bajaj is trying hqrd since ao many years and partners they are unable to break RE😂😂❤
Adil must do more stories. He has so much to share.
Yeah ♥
Adil, it's a wonderful show. Joe was my boss at Bajaj and i learned quite a lot from him. Always thankful to my Bajaj team.
❤
it is soo good and lucky that we are get to listen from this truly gems from Indian Auto industry. Great insights. Thanks EVO for putting this on air.
Glad u liked it.
I just wanted to take a moment to appreciate Sirish and Mr. Darukhanawala. The chemistry they share really makes the content shine. Not only entertaining, but the discussions are always informative and insightful. It's refreshing to see such genuine connection and passion about the Indian auto industry. Keep up the fantastic work guys, Cheers!
Thank you!
Glad you liked it.
I think Hero Honda Glamour PGM Fi was India's first fuel injected motorcycle, launched in 2006. Pulsar 220 DTS-Fi followed shortly after.
I don't understand this .. why Bajaj never works on Avenger range that enthusiastically , trust me if Bajaj give 400 or 500 cc upgrade to Avenger bike that can be the revolution in cruiser bike scene in India no harleys or TVS or Honda would stand in front of it
for that they should tweak the chassis which was co-developed with kawasaki. There must be some legal difficulties just like hero had with karizma. Otherwise thats a better idea than dominor.
Such a great podcast, and a great refresh before the NS400 launch. I'm still watching the video, but I feel slightly let down that the speakers did not touch upon the current mess that Bajaj is in with the discontinuation of Discover, the Pulsar mess, the Avenger ignorance, though the speaker did touch upon the Dominar's downfall.
Love my Dominar 400 2019 ❤
#thethrillofriding
What a podcast.👌👌 I still own 2011 model pulsar. Even though i bought a "RE meteor 350" Few months back ( sorry Rajiv bajaj sir) , when i sit in my pulsar n ride, it still makes me smile n thank my self that i did not let go my first bike. Adil sir big thanks to you. Feel proud owner of the brand pulsar. Sirish sir 🙏 . And yeah a classic pulsar will something else.
What a Podcast really loved it. The bike you guys are saying about DTSI from TVS is FLAME.
It would be awesome to see a TVS version of this podcast next!
Adil is a goldmine of Indian automotive history. Loving these podcasts with Adil, keep digging Sirish. Thanks.

Big fan sirish
Keep rocking ❤
Thanks! Will do
Thanks for the appreciation.
Dear mr Adil and mr. Sirish, thank you for another wonderfully informative and nostalgic podcast. You may also consider doing podcasts on recent path breaking automotive technological developments like the Nanoslide in the engines of Mercedes Benz automobiles. Thank you very much and best wishes always.
Thank You !
43:24 Probably TVS Flame as far as I can remember 🤔
Waiting for that Pulsar Classic.. with 2003 Pulsar Looks and 2023 Pulsar 220 heart.. 🤔
honda cbz was the precursor the pulsar .. that was the original fat tyre mod bike and was faster than any of the biks of that era ..
Love this! Please do more.
How nice it would be if Bajaj manages to do what the pulsar originally did for the two wheeler market in India. Give the indian market something which they have never experienced, maybe like a triple engine for the masses or an inline 4. We have so many well established home grown companies but all of them are still making single cylinder bikes. Maybe it's time to step it up. Look at the success RE is having in the european market.
Indian two-wheeler market is evolving and it is different than the European market.
@@evoIndia True true makes sense. Maybe it was just my wishful thinking lol
43:20 that was the TVS FLAME
44:34 "NO". That was the HERO HONDA GLAMOUR Fi
Adil sir - the chetak 4s was introduced in early 2000s and not in the 90s.
I want to know why Bajaj ignored the Gearless scooters market. almost 2.0 lakh Activa's r sold every month. any specific reasons fr it ???
when will the KTM big bikes coming to India??
Anybody know about Kawasaki Bajaj Prowler 125? 2 stroke, 125cc, 5 speed, brembo disc brake
Bajaj platina 99cc (2007) VFM durability Reliability Engine....But now After 2017 only Scrap engine
one big story they tried to attack Enfield by calling it an elephant but RE is actually an elephant 😂😂😂 and in 300-650cc segment it absolutwly dominates, not the dominar or duke390 or husky401 or triymph 400😂😂😂
Podcast on Yamaha in India
Video on Hyundai story
Because IPO is coming 😂😂
Good idea.
why did AS200 fail?
Bajaj is struck with too many discovers and same pulsars. They may be financially successful but with their experience and resources they should have launched a 500-700cc engines by now, instead of giving multiple spark plugs. They should also improve their gearboxes, rode the new N250 and found it unrefined...
No that is where they would deviate from their core. Their core is providing performance at budget .
Think will they want to compete with big guns it's not about capability it's just you are entering in an over crowded region where no want a value for money bike.
What a shame only 4500 views.
Rajiv is blunder maker, discontinued discover then again launched it again discontinued it. There was time when people considered discover 100 and 125 as a premium commuter and it also delivered the expectation of the people! Completely giving up on scooter and just gifting the market to Honda. Rajiv's blunders are countless.
It's always easier said than done.
@@evoIndia Bajaj could have easily kept the scooter market in their hand, gifting the market to honda made Activa 2nd best selling 2 wheeler in India. Dilution of discover with n no. of models in the same displacement confused buyers, discover was like switch of Bajaj when ever they feel like they used to switch on or off. Discover 100/110 always had way better sales than platina and ct100.
@@avishekchakrabarty2560scooter market was already being lost to Honda when Bajaj had Sapphire & krystal as their automatic 4 stroke scooters. And chetak 4s as a manual 4 stroke scooter. They had to re think and re invest their strategy and eventually shift towards bikes. Now think about it, how much Honda can do in the 150cc upwards bike market which Bajaj is effortlessly pulling with its pulsar range.
❤
♥
Want TVS history also
The First Fuel injected bike in India is Glamour not Pulsar.
Why is Bajaj reluctant to go into multi cylinder engine arena.
Becus they suck
f pulsar 400 is close to or better than the performance of duke then it going to sell like real hot cakes ..
Stay tuned for the more info and reviews.
WHAT?? 12 to 15 Years waiting period?? I will Never Believe that , This is a BIGG Lie
It’s true
Yeah, it sounds unbelievable . But this is true.
Whats in a scooter that a motorcycle can't do? Smaller wheels, less engine efficiency, aweful dynamics, way more maintanance...ek chota sa kam ke liye bhi 10 bolts kholne padte hay, firvi log scooter k piche pade hay! Bazaar jana hi sirf jivan ka maqsad hay....😂kya? Pahele ek company aisa dikhao jo kuch naya kiya ho khud se...plz hero honda mat bolna...😅
The most over rated bike maker. Avg products, with close to zero reliability projected as vfm offerings. It was and is always a price game for bajaj. Nothing else. India is still a test market for Bajaj. The way they discontinue models at will is just ridiculous. DTSI is another marketing gimmick, cars around the time were happily munching miles with just one spark plug. 2 decades later they realised it and now all their bikes come with a single spark.
Bajaj is in a bubble
Baja in a mess
