Eureka makes them both as I understand it with the Faustino being a contract manufacturing thing obviously.
I'm torn between these 2 grinders. Does 55 vs 50 mm burrs really make a difference in this case. Leaning toward the Rocket otherwise...
Hi Gail!!! I love how you explain your videos...I have to buy a coffee grinder but I'm between the Eureka Specialita and the Rocket Espresso. I don't know what to do. They both have positive and negative things. Both can be programmed in one or two cups depending on the time (seconds).
The rocket is cleaner when it comes to grinding coffee, as the Eureka always leaves coffee residue on the table. Also, the burrs of the Rocket are 5 mm smaller (compared to the 55 mm of the Eureka) and it has a 50 watt's motor that is less powerful than the Eureka.
I've read reviews from Rocket where customers say the screen is problematic (very sensitive and sometimes gives problems) and needs to be fixed quite often. On the other hand, I've also read that the Eureka has a timer that is quite difficult to set, but I don't understand why this is said when the grinding set is the same wheel system.
So, which grinder would you think is the best and why? Can you honestly tell me what you think about both of them? I'm sure, that clarity will help me take the decision!
I went with the Eureka Mignon Specialita as I liked the digital measure doser even though I love Rocket espresso machines.
I believe they're essentially the same grinder, as Eureka manufacture them both! Would love to see these against the Niche reviewing flavour profiles...
Not the same, the specilita has 55m burrs, think maybe same as the lower end models of eureka with the 50mm burrs
@@fikofikret1522 the silenzio lol
Gail. Thank you for the wonderful review from here in the U.K. just purchased the rocket Fausto. I’ve preordered the rocket cinquantotto. Can’t wait to get it at the beginning of July. Just wondering if these will go together well & when can we expect a review of said machine.
Thanks
Why not the specialita? Has 55mm burrs instead of 50 and is cheaper.
Are both of these significantly better than the rancillio rocky?
Hi Gail, when you say home use grinder, what is the con of using it commercially?
It is not designed to be used in a cafe. If you do a few espressos in a day it is fine. But if you use those grinders commercially you brew hundreds of espressos in a day and the motor and grinder is not designed fot that (overheating and other problems).
Damn you guys have weird metrics across the pond. =D
My Specialta definitely does not sound like that. Mine is very quiet. They're both nice grinders though.
Lexi021009 my eureka mignon sounds exactly like the faustino ie. super quiet
Is it closer to the Faustino? Thanks
The Specialita sounds really weird in this video. Mine is more like the Faustino
It's the hopper cover rattling. Just set up my specialita today and was surprised about the sound, with the lid off or pressure on it, its nearly silent.
And the position of the mic. Much closer when she tested the Specialita.
I have questions on this machine I received just going on a week ago, and it is impossible to get a hold of anyone at your company--phone line disconnects before ever getting to a live person, emails were only answered a couple times. HELP and thanks.
On which one?
Feel like there's something loose on that Specialita :/ mine definitely doesn't make that sound lol.
Agreed, my specialita is very quiet. Given both grinders use the same motor and basic chassis, i'd imagine noise should be identical.
100%
agreed, there is something wrong inside
The hopper cover is rattling.
Can you help me with some suggestions for grinders -- something that will do espresso and french press grinds (more favoring espresso if i had to choose) for under $200? Was looking at the brevielle smart doser pro, but would like a step up from that. thanks
FilmMagician get a hand grinder for that budget. Nothing electric can get you great grind quality in that price range
@@thejupiter2 there is probably nothing fit for espresso in range around 200$. Even manual grinders cost way over that. Only if you find something previously owned and you decide to replace the burrs by yourself.
@@thejupiter2 I think u have some problems with your tastebuds because first there is almost no decent espresso grinder voor 200 bucks and yes there is a huge difference between a 200 grinder and 500 grinder.
The plastic lid on the Specialita tends to vibrate and increase the noise. Swapping it out with a rubber or wood lid reduces the sound level. Yes, it takes a bit of DIY measuring and cutting to make a new lid. Side note: the Specialita is difficult to dial in the grind at first, lots of trial and error since the knob turns infinite rotations, the numbers on it are meaningless. I never owned a Faustino, so I can't compare the setup process.
Did you end up sticking with it? I'm wondering if Mignon series is the way to go for 2-3 shots a day without changing beans for home use. People swear Ceado is the way to go, but it's too expensive. Niche is taking too long from back orders, which is a no go.
In case you haven't found one yet, there are some great Etsy vendors with a fix for the bothersome infinite turns/knob for the Specialita. Makes it WAY easier to use.
Gail is back!? I thought she retires already isn't it?
For noise level, I've actually seen another Seattle Coffee comparison of the same two grinders with the Rocket being noisier right here ==> (ruclips.net/video/tBXjtdPiNZM/видео.html) but it was the newer faustino 3.1 and a chrome specialita
It’s SPECIALITÁ! I can’t hear you say specialíta anymore. The stress is on the last A.
I bought the Faustino, less than 13 months old and the screen has stopped working, just ordered another to sell it, ordered the Specialita because of the button has proven more durable according to reviews and repair guys I spoke to, and you only touch the screen to adjust when dialing in new beans, not every shot. We will see. Best machines with small footprint and height I think.
Love from the UK haven't seen this yet
My specialita does not sound like that. Ever
Diese inch-maße machen mich irre. :-)
Gail is like the espresso wizard version of Ellen
Comparing Gail to Ellen is an insult to Gail. Ellen’s kind of a bitch in real life.
Touch screen control on a higher end machine like this is a joke. Who decided that buttons are a bad idea???
I had to send mine back twice because of the led. However, it's been working great for over a year now and I love the feature.
Does the touch screen have common problems? That would be a a deal breaker. I was thinking about trying to order from Europe.
@@wmendez3 you can always use the on demand button
no EK43????
I'm suprised by how quiet the faustino is
They're both pretty quiet, this video isn't really an accurate representation of how loud the Specialita is (can be observed in other review vids).
The specialita lid vibrates if you put a bit of foam or rubber bands it is as quiet as the Faustino
Buy the Fausto instead of Faustino, it will last you so long that the difference in price is not that big of a deal.
Fausto is nearly double the price, £759 (fausto) vs. £415 (faustino), and takes up more room, and a larger hopper. Guessing Fausto is more suited to commercial/cafes, not domestic.
@@feralferret In my country the price is: £657.88 vs £497.42 about £160 difference and that's not that big of a difference.
CaptainAwasome Difference in UK is £344, so it is a big deal, nearly double the Faustino, and I used cheapest prices on Google to compare.
@@feralferret You can get the Fausto for 598.36€ and the Faustino for 393.00€ @ www.espressocoffeeshop.com/
@@grocerylist buy the eureka with bigger burrs will cost 395 euros
