    Mignon Fàcile: Mignon easy to use.
    Mignon Silenzio: Silent Mignon, to not disturb people around you (even though all of the Eureka mignon are quiet)
    Mignon Perfetto: Perfect Mignon (I think it is called like that 'cause of the fact that it can be great for all types of coffee, not specific for a single type of coffee brewing method.
    Mignon specialità: specialty mignon. Amazing for specialty coffee due to the very focus espresso range grinder.
    Mignon magnifico: magnificent mignon. Top of the line.

    As always Mark great video ( compliment to AJ as well ). We purchased the facile grinder and it seems to be holding its own . Currently using it for a corse setting for poor over coffee . The facile appears to produce a consistent grind. We are patiently waiting to purchase the quick mill pippa espresso machine once back in stock at Whole Latte Love . Thanks all the help and guidance during the buying experience in home espresso. Cheers

    Hey Marc! 👋 First of all, amazing videos!! Really great presentation of the Eureka Mignon Line! I believe I'm interested somewhere between Silenzio to Perfetto or even Specialita (this will be my very first grinder). I'm mostly into espresso, but occassionaly pour-over/drip/aeropress coffee. I'm wondering, does Silenzio offer the same grind consistency as Perfetto? Since they are 55mm grinders should I expect same results from both of them?

    Marc, I purchased a specialita from you paired with a Profitec Pro 500 PID in October of 2020. I quickly fell in love with it but the grinder has had more issues than I can count. Near impossible to dial in due to the smallest adjustment wheel with poor marking scale, having to waste tons of beans while making finer adjustments, having the machine stop dead on me while going finer, grind size drift, inconsistent grinds with clumping, tons of retention (using dry medium roast), and seeing grind size adjustments many shots later even after purging many grams of beans. I disassembled it, cleaned and vacuumed it, and still no luck. I switched beans multiple times and even gave the same beans to a friend with a Breville Oracle and he had no issues. I actually went out and gave you a second chance and purchased a Ceado E37s from you and my espresso making has been enjoyable ever since. I reached out to tech support after complaining about having a $700+ paperweight after sales at WLL recommended it. I was hoping you could do something for me in regards to my specialita. They told me it's out of return period and if tech determines nothing wrong with it they will charge me labor to verify that. I spent over $4000 with you guys now, and really am in a pickle taking a bath on what WLL said was a great grinder for the money (specialita). I don't know if I got a lemon or if this grinder really isn't all that good. I would much rather not have an espresso based $700+ grinder for cold brew which we barely drink. Any thoughts? Looking forward to hearing from you!

    • @BensCoffeeRants
      @BensCoffeeRants 3 года назад +4

      Sounds like you got a lemon, isn't there a 1yr warranty at least? Maybe try a 3rd party repair place and see if they can get it working better, and resell it, or just sell it cheaper and be honest about the issues you had.
      The markings / adjustment is kinda irrelevant, just move it one way or the other for finer or coarser, it's not very convenient if you're trying to remember what settings worked for what coffee or brew type. One of the downsides of the grinder (along with the poorly designed hopper). The hardest part is figuring out how much of an adjustment you're making with any new grinder. I think it actually works better as a single dose grinder. Less waste, easier to adjust without any beans in it, and a 3d printed or PVC pipe funnel is less messy than using the standard hopper it comes with.

    I have the specialita (chrome not gold haha). Great grinder. I love how quiet it is. I can make myself a coffee in the morning without waking the family.
    The only negative is that it can be a little bit messy as there is no catch tray. They way I get around that is that I will stop 3/4 of the way through a grind, give a quick tap to flatten the mound, then finish the grind. They great thing is that it will allow you to pause without losing your time.

    • @Wholelattelovepage
      @Wholelattelovepage  3 года назад

      Hi John, Thanks for the kind comment and question. It can switch back fairly easily. Total grind range is contained in one 360 degree turn of the grind adjustment. There are markings on the adjustment wheel to assist. Exactly is relative but you'd get very very close.

    I was leaning towards the Gaggia Brera "bean to cup" unit but decided to replace my old Krups burr grinder with a Eureka Facile and see if my Delonghi EC680 (now used as non-pressurized) can show me some love. My neighbor has the Gaggia Classic Pro with a Silenzio (they're so nice and quiet) and says he doesn't use the timer all that much. So when I saw this "timer-less" version of the "Silenzio" I had to pull the trigger.

    • @Wholelattelovepage
      @Wholelattelovepage  3 года назад +5

      Hi m, Thanks for the comment and question. For strictly espresso I'd go with the Specialita for sure! It has larger 55mm burrs compared to 50mm burrs in the Perfetto. The Perfetto is aimed more at multi-purpose grinding. It's a good choice for those who bounce between espresso and other brew methods with the entire grind size range adjustable with a single 360 degree turn of the grind size adjustment knob. The Specialita is more focused on espresso grinding. The grind size adjustment is more precise - it takes many full turns of the adjustment knob to get out of the espresso range. Hope that helps!
      Marc

  • @amoryfiore3937
    @amoryfiore3937 3 года назад +1

    Hi Marc, great review! I love a good espresso and will certainly take some time to experiment to come up with the perfect shot, but I am not going to be obsessive about it, so I would consider myself a sort of middle of the road enthusiast. With the Perfetto, how important is the loss of grind range for someone like me? It would be great to have an all purpose grinder but I don't want to make a huge trade off in grind quality for espresso. Thanks! Amory

    • @Wholelattelovepage
      @Wholelattelovepage  3 года назад

      Hi AF, Thanks for the kind comment and question. If not obsessive the Perfetto is a great choice for those grinding for multiple brew methods. It put's the full range of brew method grind size adjustment in one turn of the knob. You give up precision in fine tuning in the espresso range - the proper grind size is available, just much smaller turns of the dial produce a larger change in grind size. Hope that helps!

    Very useful video, thanks for the great comparison. I drink espresso and Moka pot daily and whilst the Perfetto is easier to switch between grinds, it's difficult to find in the UK. I realise the grind for Moka is courser than espresso, so if I was to chose the Specialita, are you looking at a lot of turns to the dial in order to move between these two brewing methods? Looking at buying my first grinder so appreciate your advice.

    Hey Mark, love your videos. I purchased a Profitec Pro 600 and a Eureka Mignon Magnifico from WLL. I am very happy. Doing business with your company has been an outstanding experience.
    I have a question on grinder maintenance. There is nothing mentioned in the manual. Does my grinder need periodic cleaning and maintenance? I do see videos on RUclips regarding this but if the manual doesn’t mention it, do I really need to be taking my grinder apart? Thank you.

    • @Wholelattelovepage
      @Wholelattelovepage  Год назад

      Hi David, Thanks for the kind comment! If you use the grinder on a regular basis you don't have to take it apart. That said, over time some coffee gunk will accumulate in the grinding chamber. More likely when grinding oily beans. Some users do to take their grinders apart for cleaning as the oily trapped gunk can go rancid. There's no published schedule for frequency but I recommend 1x month for typical home user. Or maybe clean if you know you will not be using the grinder for more than a week or two - vacation etc. Nice thing about Magnifico and other Eureka Mignon grinders is they are very easy to take apart and no loss of grind setting when doing so. The screw to get the top plate off is behind the press on logo plate on the rear side. Pry that off and remove screw underneath. Then the top plate will come off giving access to screws that hold the top burr plate on. Remove those, lift off the plate and use a pick and vacuum to clean out any gunk. Reassemble and you are done.
      Hope that helps and thanks for your patronage!

    Recently purchased a Facile in Canada. The quality of the grind and taste in the cup were superb (compared to my dual purpose Vario). I was extremely pleased with my grinder. Within the first week (+/- 25 x 18g), I started to notice clumps and a day or two later, the grinds stopped coming out of the chute altogether while the motor was still running. I tried to remove the burrs to clean the chamber and ended up stripping a screw from being too tight. I used a spoon to reach inside the chute from underneath and the amount of grind that came out was significant. But still wouldn’t work once cleaned out. This wasn’t expected after only one week of use. I was lucky that I could get a full refund. It’s unfortunate because I’ll loved the machine. Maybe I’ll try the Specialita one day.

    • @Wholelattelovepage
      @Wholelattelovepage  3 года назад +2

      Hi Marco, Thanks for the feedback and sharing your experience with the Facile. Sorry to hear of your problems. Sounds like the grinder got clogged up and may have had issues with continuing to grind while clogged which caused the problem. Always best to stop the motor ASAP if no grinds are being dispensed. The initial clumping is indication of a partial clog potentially from grind being set too fine and/or very oily beans. You did the right thing trying to clean the grinder! Stripping screws (assuming it was the screw head that stripped) is often the result of using a screwdriver that's not the right size for the head. Good that you were able to get a full refund and loved the grinder enough to consider going with a Specialita down the road.
      Marc

      @@Wholelattelovepage assuming the chute would need to be cleaned regularly. Would you recommend the Specialita or something like the Profitec Pro M54 with an easy clip chute cover instead of the screws of the Mignon? Are they both similar in grind quality??

    • @Wholelattelovepage
      @Wholelattelovepage  3 года назад +1

      Hi, If me I'd go with the Specialita. If you are getting clogs the Pro M54 is IMO more difficult to open up for cleaning. Removing the chute cover usually does not give enough access for clearing clogs/cleaning. Usually have to remove the top burr assembly. You will lose grind setting when opening, have to turn out the adjustment collar, do your cleaning and make sure collar threads are spotless before turning back in. On the Specialita, pop the Eureka emblem off the back to access and loosen the top cover retaining screw. Pop off the top cover and 3 screws holding the top burr plate and you're in with no loss of grind setting. Just be sure and use the proper sized screwdriver to avoid damaging the screw heads. Grind quality is similar between the grinders. Slight edge to the Specialita IMO for stepless grind size adjustment, lower retention and 2 timed grinding presets.

    • @Wholelattelovepage
      @Wholelattelovepage  3 года назад +3

      Hi neil, Thanks for the question. First, understand the Sette is an appliance grade product and the Specialita is machine grade. If you will be weighing shots the Sette is magical in delivering incredibly accurate weights right into your PF with no scale required. It's difficult to give objective judgement on grind quality with 55mm flat burrs and 40mm conical burr in the Sette. Subjectively, flat burrs are generally preferred for high-end espresso grinding. Beyond mostly plastic construction the Sette has some wear parts. After break-in you will need to install the provided shim(s) to restore the fine grinding range. After some use you will need to replace the felt friction ring between the macro and micro adjustment rings. Both of those things are very easy to do and the felt ring is a $1 part. The Sette is rather loud with its grind straight through design, it's susceptible to static especially in low humidity environments and during break in. It produces a very fluffy and well distributed grind. The Specialita is much, much quieter, has no wear parts and is fairly consistent with dose weights cycle to cycle based on timed grinding. I hope that helps!

    I own the Specialita for about 8 months now. I started noticing problems with it when I opened it to clean it. First I thought it was the misalignment and I fixed it but even now, I can only get my 20-25 second extraction when the burrs are touching each other. No one talked about this on RUclips and I don't know if that's normal or not. Where do you get your sweet spot?
    The local dealer won't look at it as long as it's still grinding and running. So that's useless.

    Hey Marc, do you know that on more expensive models Eureka has a special lid with a bellows like rubber extended belt that act as a blower to clean/empty almost totally the hopper and burrs as pushes the air into the hole machine? Also I would ask if you recommend me the Specialità for an occasionally French Press or Cold Brew grinding, since the Perfetto doesn't have so many settings for the espresso that it wold be it's main purpose. I'm choosing a better and easier grinder for my GAGGIA BABY 1997 White edition machine, it came originally with the MDF white color, but the doser is really retaining so much coffee and the stepped selector is not exactly microadjustable for very fine tuned espresso.
    Thanks a lot, and as always great job explaining all this wonderful line of Eurekas!

    • @Wholelattelovepage
      @Wholelattelovepage  3 года назад

      Hi AO, Nice to hear you have a Gaggia Baby from 1997 that's still running! MDF was a good grinding option years ago. A solid unit at good price but dosing grinders have fallen out of favor with home espresso enthusiasts and the MDF is a stepped grinder so precise grind adjustment is lacking. I am aware and have used the Atom Pro with bellows. IMO it's best used for brew methods other than espresso like pour over in a commercial setting: www.wholelattelove.com/collections/all-grinders/products/eureka-atom-pro-coffee-grinder-in-matte-black
      If you are doing both espresso and press plus cold brew I'd go with the Perfetto. It can be adjusted rapidly between espresso and coarser settings for other brew methods. The Specialita will require a lot of turning of the grind size adjustment knob to go from espresso fine to coarser settings and it's available in white: www.wholelattelove.com/products/eureka-mignon-perfetto-16cr-grinder-in-white
      Hope that helps!

      Hi, Thanks for the kind comment and question! If you grind for other brew methods from time to time then the Perfetto can work. Much easier with the Perfetto to make major changes in grind sizes. But, you do give up a bit of precision controlling grind size as the whole range is contained in one 360 degree turn of the control. If only grinding for espresso then the Specialita has more precise control with many full turns of grind size control knob required for big changes in grind size. Hope that helps!

      @@Wholelattelovepage does specialita have a courser setting for cold brew?

  • @bsdickinson
    @bsdickinson 3 года назад

    Hi Marc. I have a Specialita. You mention and I think the book does as well that it's important to have the grinder running when making adjustments to grind finer (not required if going courser?). Assume that is to minimize stress on the motor if there are beans between the burrs. Can you adjust to finer with no beans in the hopper/burrs and if yes, should it be running or not? Want to be sure I don't harm the grinder but don't want to unnecessarily sacrifice beans. Bonus question: is the advantage of 54mm vs. 50mm burrs increased/faster throughput? Thanks!

    • @Wholelattelovepage
      @Wholelattelovepage  3 года назад +2

      Hi Brian, Thanks for the questions - and I'll go for the bonus!!! Yes, it is important to have the grinder running when adjusting finer and there are beans in the hopper. No problem adjusting coarser with beans in and grinder not running. Also very small adjustments finer are okay with beans in. I do it all the time in between shots when dialing in. Like I have a shot running 20 seconds and I adjust a hair finer to add 5 seconds or so to timing for the next. You will not see a manufacturer recommending that as there is risk - mostly from users who will read incorrectly and think it's okay to make major changes to a finer setting. That can cause a grinder to lockup with partially ground beans trapped between the burrs. With no beans in hopper you can make any adjustment without the grinder running.
      Bonus: General advantages of larger burrs - Faster grinding, more consistent particle size, more heat absorption/cooler grinding, less tendency for grinds to clump at espresso sizes, longer burr life.

    I have a Perfetto and use it mainly for espresso. Sometimes I use if for other brewing methods (French press) which is the reason why I went for the Perfetto. But in reality it is a bit of a pain to switch between grind settings (at least from coarse to fine) because you do have to take into account that the lingering coarser grinds will be dragged down along with the fine grinds for a few shots, and they will be interfering with your espresso extraction.

    • @Wholelattelovepage

      Hi RV, Thanks for the feedback sharing your experience. You made the right choice with the Perfetto. Micrometric adjustement of the other models makes switching between espresso and other brew methods a tedious process. Takes a lot of turns to make major grind size changes. When changing grind size one does have to burn a little coffee. In my experience the Mignon line retains less partially ground coffee than most competing grinders with similar size burrs.

With no beans in the grinder continue adjusting to a finer setting until you hear the sound of the burrs just touching then quickly back off until that sound goes away. That's zero or the finest possible grind setting. Don't worry about the burrs briefly touching. The non cutting outer edge of the burrs are higher than the cutting edges so they do not touch.

      @Wholelattelovepage  3 года назад

      Hi Linda, Thanks for the question. All the Mignon grinders are doserless. If you do not need timed grinding the lowest price option in the Mignon line is the Instantaneo which is not shown in this video. It has the same 50mm burrs as the Perfetto and Silenzio but does not have the "silent" tech which all the other do so it's louder when grinding. Next step up is the Silenzio 50mm, does have "silent" tech, it grinds manually on demand or has simple timing (not digital). If you do not need digital timing either of those is a good choice. The other 50mm Mignon is the Perfetto. It's a bit more all purpose with one 360 degree turn going through entire grind size range. If doing just espresso it's probably not the best choice as grind adjustment is not as precise. If going 50mm burr and don't need precise timing IMO the Silenzio is the way to go and comes in a range of colors: www.wholelattelove.com/search?q=silenzio
      From there you go to the Mignons with 55mm burrs. They grind a bit faster and most will tell you bigger burrs = better grind. All of the 55mm have digital timed grinding. Entry to 55mm is the Specialita also available in a range of colors: www.wholelattelove.com/search?q=specialita

      @Wholelattelovepage  Год назад

      Hi Chris, It's always a compromise if you try and use a single grinder for both espresso and other brew methods which use a much coarser grind size. Espresso grinders tend to produce more fines at coarser grind settings. And brew grinders don't have the precision or grind quality for espresso. Beyond that changing back and forth between different grind sizes is a bit of a pain. It can be difficult to easily return to your dialed in espresso grind setting. But, depends on how particular you are and how willing you are to give up some ease of use. If your budget is $1000 you might consider a lower cost Baratza for your press grinding like the Virtuoso and go with one of the Eurekas for your espresso grinding.

Have to be honest I've always preferred the Ceado E5P, E6P to the Mazzer when looking at 64mm grinders. I never liked how open the grind size adjustment threads are in the Mazzer and how the top burr rides on 3 springs. With use I found the grind size adjustment would become difficult and opening and cleaning was a pain with those spring carrier holes filling with ground coffee. The Ceados have better sealing of the threads. The Eureka grinders are well made and I consider them machine grade. Their grind size adjustment moves the bottom burr up so size adjutment remains smooth. Though well built, their not at the same level of the Ceado and Mazzer.

      Hi May, There's always a chance but I suspect it's not the case. I've used the Specialita and other Eureka grinders of similar design extensively and have yet to have a clogging issue. A common cause of grinder clogs is grinding far too fine. Grounds get partially packed into spots in the delivery chute impeding the flow of subsequent grind cycles. Sometimes this will clear by adjusting to a much coarser grind setting and running a couple of grind cycles. But there may be a partial clog remaining. In that case, it's best to open up the grinding chamber and manually clear the path out of the grinder. When you attempt to grind again, start at a coarser setting and work your way to a finer one. @Wholelattelovepage  3 года назад

      Hi Noah, You are welcome for the video and thanks for your question. Grinding fresh will most definitely upgrade your pour over quality! Grind size for pour over is not nearly as critical as it is for espresso. Tiny changes in grind size make a big difference in espresso. It's always a bit of a compromise selecting a grinder to serve both immersion brewing methods like pour over and espresso. If switching brew methods a lot the challenge is getting exactly back to your espresso grind size setting. And keep in mind grind size for espresso is not set and forget so you'll likely be making slight size changes as other variables change. Of the grinders here, the best for multi-purpose is the Mignon Perfetto: www.wholelattelove.com/collections/all-grinders/products/eureka-mignon-perfetto-16cr-grinder-in-white
      It's one 360 turn of the knob to go through the full range of grind size. The other Mignon grinders will require multiple 360 turns of grind adjustment to go through the whole range making it difficult to accurately return to a previous used setting for espresso. Assuming when you mention Breville you're talking the Smart Grinder Pro. That would be fine for pour over but IMO not a great choice for espresso. It tends to be slow and clumpy at espresso grind sizes and lacks precise stepless grind size adjustment that makes all the difference for espresso. Hope that helps!

      Hi YZ, Larger burrs generally produce a more consistent grind particle size. Honestly most would have a tough time tasting a difference as long as all other variables are the same. But, with larger burrs you will have better control of other variables like dose weight and less clumping. Better control of other variables results in more consistency in flavor shot to shot.

      Hi Samantha, Thanks for the question. So these are definitely better grinders than what you get built into a Breville. They use larger flat burrs and are more precise in dialing in grind size which is one of the most important variables. Do you really need to buy one of these? That depends on your expectations. For some users the built in grinders serve their needs and the built in grinder matches the capability of the machine.

    After almost 6 months of Perfetto, coming from a Wilfa Svart, I like it because I can jump easily from French Press to Espresso with a consistent grind but there are some features that I would like to be different: retention, its the worst part of this grinder, I can loose around 2 gr every time I put a single dose and even worse its the cleanning, its just a mess, I use an air blower to get rid of the coffee stucked. Metal hook its a bit annoying with my Sage Bambino porta filter. For Espresso I need to arrive until 1.5 (Turk position). French Press its not as coarse as I'd like to but its ok. I've order a single dose air blower from Etsy, looking forward if im able to improve rentention and cleaning all together.

      Hi Sergio, Thanks for the feedback. The Perfetto does make it easy to make major grind size changes - it would be a lot of turning on more espresso focused grinders. As I'm sure you are aware it's not a single dosing grinder so will have some retention. 2g is actually quite good for this type of grinder. The air blower may help. Might also consider some RDT is attempting to single dose to helkp get more grind out. Be aware aggressive use of RDT (moistening the beans just prior to grinding) could cause corrosion of burrs if they get wet all the time.

      It has a the full range of grind size for all brew methods available with 1 x 360 turn of the grind size adjustment knob and labeling on the knob various brewing methods for reference. The grinders you mention can work too but require far more turns of the knob to go from espresso to grind for V60. That said they are more precise for dialing in espresso with less change in size per turn of the adjustment. Just harder to make a quick transition from one grind size and back.

    Hey Marc. I've owned a specialita for a little longer than a month, and have a question. What is the intended purpose of having two time presets on the specialita? Is it be be used for alternating between double shots and triple shots? Or used when alternating between different beans? In both of these scenarios, I assume the grind size would also need to also be adjusted/dialed. In that case, why bother with having a second time preset, since grind size can't be saved? (I believe, if I'm not mistaken, that there is some variation/differences introduced when changing back to and from two grind settings. I.e. if I move from 2 to 5 and then back to 2 again. The 2 I end in is not the same as the original 2).

      Hi JA, with high quality precision filter baskets you should be able to use same grind size between singles and doubles. Like dial in size for a double and then try something near half that time for a single. Unlikely to be exact half time due to startup of grinding and other variables. But, should be able to find a time for that single that works without changing grind size.

      Hi e, I have not tested these grinders for Turkish. You of course want a super fine powdery grind and these grinders are primarily designed for brew methods using espresso grind size (not as fine as Turkish) and larger. I recommend running the grinder with no beans loaded and adjusting to a finer setting until you hear the burrs just touch then quickly back off to a slightly coarser grind setting. That's as fine as you can grind. Try that for your Turkish. Be aware grinding extra fine may result in clogs in the grinder.

      Hey Craig, Sorry for the delayed response! Yes, the Specialita is what I consider machine grade in build quality while the Sette 270Wi is appliance grade. The Sette grinder does have some wear parts. It in fact comes with burr shims that need to be installed after about 3kg of grinding to restore extra fine grinding. Also a felt friction ring between the macro and micro adjustment which eventually will need replacement. It's a $1 part and super easy to replace. I've used the 270Wi a lot! honestly it's magical in dosing weight accuracy. If you will be weighing doses it makes it very easy. When static is not a problem it delivers a beautiful fluffy grind directly into the center of a PF. But, it is susceptible to static. Especially in dry environments. That can be easily reduced/eliminated by stirring beans in hopper with a wet finger. Sette is also a lot louder than the Eureka grinder.

Baratza Sette 30 is ~$250 USD. It's another appliance grade grinder but grinds fast and clump free. The Sette 30 lacks the micro adjustment of the Sette 270 grinders. Why can I not get my facile to grind lighter roasts fine enough for espresso? Burrs touching still too coarse.

    • @Wholelattelovepage
      @Wholelattelovepage  5 месяцев назад +1

      Hi big, Are you sure burrs are touching? If they are you should not be getting any ground coffee out of the grinder. And, while it's okay for burrs to briefly touch with no beans in the grinder to find the actual zero point of the grinder you should never attempt to grind coffee with burrs touching. Any chance you believe you're at finest setting because you're set to "0" on the grind size adjustment knob? If so, know the numbers on the knob are for reference only and do not relate to a particular grind size or setting.

      @@Wholelattelovepage I solved the problem which ended up being extremely misaligned burrs from the factory. The burrs were indeed touching. Found a how to video did the marker test and ended up having to shim the top burr by removing the burr from carrier and placing aluminum shims under 2/3 of the burr. Re tested with with marker seemed to do the trick. Now am able to grind even the lightest roast to choke point of machine. Also this 100% corrected all my channeling and inconsistent shots.

    Having a hard time deciding between the settee 270 or the Facile.

    • @Wholelattelovepage
      @Wholelattelovepage  2 года назад

      Hi David, The big difference... The Sette is an appliance and the Facile is a machine grade product with higher build quality. That said, I do like the Sette 270. It's rather loud but produces a nice fluffy well distributed grind and it does it fast. It's a good choice for lower volume use. It does have some wear parts like a felt friction ring between the macro and micro grind size adjustment. Also comes with burr shims you need to install (easy to do) after about 6lb/3kg of grinding to restore fine grinding range. The Facile with it's more rugged build quality should outlast the Sette. It's grind size adjustment is just as precise as the Sette and some (most espresso folks) prefer grinding with flat burrs like in the Facile over the conical burrs in the Sette.

    Good idea keeping the name label on the bottom, this could've become confusing quickly

    I noticed in the manual it states to shut off and unplug when not in use. Is it necessary to turn it off?

      Hey me me, That advice is mostly for safety reasons. Like unplugging a blender when not in use to protect kid's fingers.

    So I guess the Facile is the same as the Notte only with a metal portafilter hook. Love my Notte. It's plenty of grinder for a good espresso.
