    Had the ceado e37s for 2 years and was not happy with it at all. Grind was beautiful, only issue I ran into was the way it distributed the beans into the portafilter causing a mohawk extraction. I had to doze into a separate cup and then put it into the portafilter to get a somewhat decent extraction. Hope that helps for somone with the same issue

      Hey 4, Thanks for sharing your experience. Have to say it's the first time I've ever had a user report of continuing distribution issue. I wonder if the portafilter hook is positioned properly. Also might check the static control flap positioning. The flap is up in the delivery chute - a small flexible piece of aluminum on the output side of the grinding chamber. Bending the flap can change the trajectory of ground coffee as the angle of bend changes restriction on coffee as it moves to the delivery chute.

    I have had a Ceado e37s for a year now and it's excellent. I swapped the burrs for Kompak K8 burrs and the results have been faster grinding and more fines (likely due to the higher number of prebreakers). Overall more forgiving grind adjustment due to the fines. I would recommend that change to anyone having consistency issues with the grinder out of the box.

    I own a Eureka Oro SD and a new Sette 270wi. I spent months and months trying to get decent shots with the Eureka and failed. I tried everything including getting the bigger dial off of Etsy. It was really frustrating. I was also becoming disheartened at the number of new grinders that are ultra expensive and are much more about art than innovation (basically they are all the same 64mm flat burr designs). I decided to try the Sette. Wow am I super happy! No channeling. Much much easier to dial in, and very consistent high quality shots from fluffy and very well distributed out of the grinder directly into the portafilter. The persistently accurate dose by weight has completely changed my workflow making it easier! Is it loud? Yes, annoyingly so, but for 6 seconds. I can live with that since it is in my home and not a cafe :). I actually think this is a good video. My take away is a little different. It seems to me that the Sette 270 holds its own quite well, and although there is a slight difference in fines, it is a bit misleading to look at raw numbers as opposed to % differences between grinders. Basically for between 20 and 30% of the price of the high end, you can get 80-90% of the performance in a smaller package that doesn’t overtake the typically sized kitchen.

    • @Wholelattelovepage
      @Wholelattelovepage  Год назад +1

      Hey netlaw, Thanks for sharing your experience and take away. All the grinders here have their place and what are important features or qualities for one user may not be important for others. As mentioned I've used the Sette 270 quite a bit and I've always been impressed with the fluffy clump free grind it produces. You're right, it does not belong in a cafe. Very noisy, 10% duty cycle, lower build quality, etc. There is a difference in grind quality and that's more important to some than others.

    In light of a "standard" for espresso particle distribution, ~250 micron median/average, can you report what the burr separation is that produces this distribution for a given grinder & burr set? Not sure that has value for conical burrs, but fairly easy for flat burrs. My 83mm burr grinder is dialed in at 145 micron burr separation for example, but I don't have the equipment to measure the actual particle size distribution.

    I bought Eureka Mignon Zero for making espresso and v60. I have also tried making use of it to grind cold brew. Experience I have had changing between settings is that there is no clear way to know where I had last set it and when I need to go from v60 or cold brew to espresso, I could potentially over tighten. Is there a way to tell I have tightened back to the espresso range without going a bit too far where I end up grinding metal by accident? Or should I just dedicate this as a espresso grinder and deal with using separate device to grind v60 and cold brew? Also do you know if Eureka zero can do turkish? I never made turkish but it would be interesting to try if I know I have an equipment that can do it.

    • @Wholelattelovepage
      @Wholelattelovepage  Год назад +1

      Hey MLIB, Thanks for the questions. First, know that you cannot end up grinding metal in a flat burr grinder. Yes, the burrs can touch but they are designed in such a way that the cutting edges of the burrs will not touch. The outer flat ring areas of the burrs will touch first and prevent the cutting edges from touching. Worst case is you crank to too fine a setting, run the grinder and the burrs don't spin. If that happens cut power ASAP so as not to stress the motor and adjust to a slightly coarser setting.
      As mentioned in this video, with the smaller adjustment knob it's easier to overshoot a desired grind setting. Since you likely have to make more than one 360 degree revolution to go from espresso out to cold brew size or back it can be challenging to track how much to turn. I'd note or mark a knob position for your espresso setting then count the number of full turns from that position.
      Another option is to note how far you have to turn the adjustment from a zero grind setting to get back to your espresso setting. To do that, when set to your espresso grind setting without beans loaded, run the grinder and adjust to a finer grind setting slowly just until you hear the sound of the burrs touching (again you can't hurt anything if you're reasonably careful) then quickly back off a hair to coarser until the sound stops. That's the zero grind setting. Once you know how much to adjust from espresso to zero you can go to zero after grinding at cold brew sizes and back off from zero to your espresso setting if that makes sense. Just remember to be careful when finding that zero setting. Don't want the burrs touching and running any longer than needed. So hear them touch and always back off ASAP.
      The grinder should be able to do Turkish which will be fairly close to that zero setting. I'll mention I have not used it for that purpose and the grinder may be more prone to clogging at the extremely fine grind used for Turkish.
      Hope that helps!
      Marc

      @Wholelattelovepage  Год назад +4

      Hey TJH1, Thanks for the comment and question. The Mazzer Mini is a decent grinder - especially 10 years ago. Very solid build. But they drove me nuts trying to clean. The internal threads of the collar adjustment are open to ground coffee and usually get gummed up making grind size adjustment difficult and/or jumpy. Cleaning them out is difficult. Also, the top burr rests on 3 springs internally. Ground coffee accumulates in and around the springs making for another difficult to clean area.

    Is there a video on how to calibrate a new Ceado E37T Grinder

    • @Wholelattelovepage
      @Wholelattelovepage  11 месяцев назад

      Hi ray, I do not have a video specific to calibrating the E37T grinder. But, it's easy! For most, calibrating means finding the finest possible grind setting. To do that simply grind out all the beans then run the grinder and keep adjusting the grind size finer with motor running until you hear the unmistakeable sound of the burrs touching. When you hear that quickly back off to a slightly coarser setting until the sound stops. That is your finest possible grind setting. Some call that Zero. Understand it's unlikely this setting will correspond to zero on the grinder's scale. That's true with all grinders unless they have a scale which adjusts separately from the grind size adjustment. Also know it's okay for the burrs to very briefly touch when calibrating. The cutting edges of the burrs are slightly below the height of the burrs outer non-cutting surface so they will not be damaged.
      Hope that helps!

      Hi L, ECM makes 64 and 54mm flat burr grinders. Comparing to grinders with the same burr size from other manufacturers one can expect similar grind quality. Some of the ECM grinders have a worm gear grind size adjustment mechanism which is very precise. In my use, the ECM grinders are slightly more prone to clumping in the grind output.

    • @Wholelattelovepage
      @Wholelattelovepage  Год назад

      Hey Sand, You'll need to remove the portafilter fork first which is secured by internal nuts. Accessing those is a little involved. Need to remove rubber feet to expose 4 screws on the base plate. Remove those, then the plate. One of the nuts holding on the fork is somewhat accessible. The other is mostly blocked by a tray with circuit board etc. The tray is held on by a number of screws. You will need to remove screws holding tray and push tray out of the way to gain access to the second nut holding the fork on. It's fairly involved with different sized screws internally, ground wires secured by one, etc. Do not attempt unless you are comfortable with mechanical/electrical work. This is an at your own risk, probably void warranty kind of deal.

    For future reference, you may want to consider using dBA when measuring noise instead of dB. dBA is a weighted measurement meant to more closely approximate perceived loudness of the human ear, whereas dB is the objective energy of an acoustic wave. Your ears perceive loudness differently depending on frequency. Thats why a low pitched sound may sound quieter than a high pitched shrill sound even though they may have similar dB levels.

It is very repairable and Breville provides good support (in most areas) and information. It is rather loud and I have experienced static issues from time to time.

    I'm sorry you didn't include the Vario. I think its an uncompromising value

      Hey rcp, Sorry it was not in this video. It is a good value and I've recommended it in the past as an excellent multi-purpose grinder.

    I have the E37 T and I can assure you; it's end game.
    Caution: it's really heavy and very large. Almost too much for some folks.

    I recently got the encore espresso but is really inconsistent, cant give the same shot twice and im very disappointed in the espresso line

      Hi s, Thanks for sharing your experience with the Encore. While it can do espresso it's not at the same level as the higher end grinders in this video.

    In depth... every metric measured and compared... except the most important one (and arguably the only one that matters) : how does the shot taste? 😂

      Hey i, Thanks for the comment at the end of the particle analysis at about 16:50 I did comment on my subjective take on flavor differences with the flat burr grinders presenting with fewer bitter notes, more round and greater clarity.
