Witnessing Starship Launch at Playa Bagdad, México!

  • On November 18, 2023, SpaceX achieved a remarkable milestone by successfully launching their second Starship rocket, complete with a successful stage separation. My girlfriend and I had the incredible opportunity to witness this launch from the northernmost tip of Playa Bagdad, México. To the best of my knowledge, this spot is as close as one can legally get to a Starship launch. This experience was particularly special to me, as it marked not only our first-ever viewing of a rocket launch but also my first visit to México. As someone who is deeply passionate about space and proudly half Mexican, the significance of this moment is beyond words. I hope you enjoy this video as much as I cherished being a part of this historic event.
    Hello future space traveler. This is the rocket that eventually made life multi-planetary. Can you believe it!? So where are you watching from? The Moon or Mars? 😃

      not to mention how far out the diamonds go! not efficient should be way less diamonds and not so far away from nozzle, i think thats like 1.5x the length of the ship, when it should be about Quarter to 1/3rd.
      mach diamonds are pretty, but they mean the motor is not running at 100% possible thrust for the given atmospheric conditions. A perfectly expanded nozzle will not contain much mach diamonds and deliver the maximum thrust.
      This is good news however, because it shows there is still alot of room for improvement and thrust :)

    He should have named the starship the BAR (big ass rocket) and then he could have said you would be able to pass the bar if you make a rocket

    Does it sounds like giant flare to you? The closer to rocket it sound more like tearing like sound while farther away like staccato of extremely loud pops and bangs. Does your ears ring after or just get sore?

      Great question. Even though we were 2.7 miles away from the launch site… surprisingly enough it did not hurt my ears. Nor was it uncomfortable. Obviously it’s loud but you are in an open space next to the ocean. Also it seems like their new water deluge systems helps dampen the sound when first launching off of the launch pad.

      Yes acoustic energy is enormous. I would compare to around at least multiple firecracker going off each having up to a least 50kg of pure flash powder which is extremely loud. Think about m-80 how loud it is having only 3g of flash powder.

      It was loud but not so loud I needed earplugs although I did bring them just in case. 😊

    Is that the border patrol across the water? Was there a huge presence of them considering how close the facility is to Mexico?

    • @GATEWAY2MARS
      @GATEWAY2MARS  6 месяцев назад

      I only saw one or two trucks of the border patrol at most. At least from what I could see. Lucky them though. I’d probably take that job just so I can see all the work being done at Starbase

      Yeah... I was in the moment and barely even know how to react since it was my first time seeing a rocket launch. Huge respect to people who actually dedicate themselves to this and capture some undeniably beautiful footage.
