Some people will complain that it's "stitched" together to resemble a one take scene but a lot of effort goes into it to make it look somewhat seamless.

      @scornelius8573 6 месяцев назад +2

Top notch? Really? Look again. If you dont know what I mean, just compare these vfx with some Weta- or ILM-Work from the last 10 Years.
In this case, espacially the cracks in the walls and debris are very badly executed.
I think in most movies where the big players Do the vfx, its so well made, that you dont even think about that its not real. Anyways, this sequence here is nicely made and fun to watch but we tend to overrate everything these days.

Well I suggest you watch a ton more… because you’ve not learned anything from what you’ve already seen.
This is probably the worst piece of crap I’ve ever seen, it’s not a continuous shot, but then neither was 1917. The editing is obvious and amateurish, the sfx are really really poor, the kind you’d find in a second rate video game cut scene. So you’re either an idiot, or it’s yet another of the 99% of comments on this clip that are about as genuine as Putin telling the truth about his slaughter in Ukraine

This might be the best disaster scene ever on film. And I'll tell you why. Because they didn't keep the camera focused on the spectacle like a lot of Hollywood films do, but on the main character and the terrified people around her. There was a sense of great realism here.
I wish I saw this in the theater. The sound design sounds really good.
The filmmaker did a fantastic job with the scene.

Hey! Russian guy here to give you some context on the scene:
The girl is named Lera, her father works at a space station (the man in the beginning who told her to look out the window), the boy with the mechanical arm is her best friend Misha, the elder people are some strangers who decided to help the unconscious girl out.
If you want to see the movie - here is the concept (without too much spoilers): as I said earlier, Lera's father works at a space station, which has some high-tech gear to help the workers out (which conveniently lets the father spy on Lera and remotely hack into any machines to make sure she was safe). Then the catastrophe happens, which also breaks the space station, leaving the father the only person alive. Instead of evacuating, he decided to help his daughter out with everything he can to guide and protect her.
Overall, I liked the movie. 8/10

I'm worried about some of you in the comments. Like you didn't even realize what you just saw. Has nothing to do with what's going on In the movie. It's that the Scene never made a cut. The camera man stayed on her for a very long time and (even tho they were using green screen and It could of possibly been Edited to seem that way) its a very Tough thing to do. Lots of good movies do these types of scenes. The most impressive ones are the scenes that don't use green screens and film in a real location with practical effects.
If you like these kind of scenes where the camera doesn't cut for long amounts of time. Check the The Children of Men Scene.

Being trapped in the elevator is more likely than being dropped any significant distance. Disaster movies tend to ignore that all modern elevators are equipped with brakes that engage if the elevator drops too quickly. These are relatively simple mechanical systems that don't depend on power. Taking an elevator during a fire or when a building is collapsing is still a good way to end up dead, just not from the elevator car falling.

In a panic of a potential building collapse you might reason that the high speed of a lift from a top floor of a high-rise outweighs the risk of being trapped in one, versus taking longer to get out in time via a stairwell collapse, plus some elderly/infirmed people might not be able to navigate the stairs so would have to risk the lift regardless. I'd still choose the stairs myself though.

@@Freecell82 I agree with this guy. It doesn't matter if its an earthquake or not, there's a good reason animals freak out when events like this happen. We are animals too, we just freak out a good bit later.
Odd comparison but when I worked in elder care one time during breakfast a dementia patient swallowed his own dentures, thinking it was bread. There was an intern in his room, supposed to wash him and check on him. She froze at the sight of him choking out, being trained for this though. Only reason that old cunt (which I very much love, his name is Adolf, I am Austrian, and I really fucking love the irony) is alive is me walking in to refill towels and getting his clothes for the wash. Told her to run for actual professional help and she ended up staring, frozen in what was happening. Pulled them dentures out with my bare fingers and made him puke all over me in the progress, but he lived.
Point is, fear and shock must never be underestimated. Fight or Flight is a real thing, but most people usually choose the "deer staring into headlights" vibe. In a situation like in the vid, your primal instincts are gonna kick in. Do not underestimate them lol.

People don't think, the vast majority of people go into panic. The hardest thing to do is remain calm and think before each action. You body and brain will be fighting to survive you end up doing things you usually would avoid
