I think it depends on what sort of battle you want to see and how the battle fits it's intended role. The outpost battle was also my favorite in the movie and was a badass scene that showed experienced soldiers holding their own against overwhelming numbers. The klendathu drop is the more memorable battle though because of the shock and how well it fulfilled it's role. That first battle showed the horrors of war that a rookie shoved onto the frontline's would face even in sci-fi against non-human enemies, and showed the film's satirical portrayal of a fascist government at it's finest. They didn't bother gathering intelligence because they viewed the bugs as inferior and incapable of thinking which led to them dropping tons of fresh out of bootcamp soldiers into a literal deathtrap with no support or experienced soldiers.
I agree. It was terrifying in a way the 1954 version could never be. I really felt like the aliens were truly...alien. Could've done without the Morgan Freeman narration, though. It could have been shown in other ways more suited to a 21st century audience.

Sorry, but that movie is terrible. The premise makes zero sense and the movie itself was just weak... which is sad because I really like Chris Pratt and Yvonne Strahovsky.
The defense of the docks is a battle that triggers desperation from its very start, when defeat is inevitable and yet every breach in humanity's tactics are explored by the machines (even when massively outnumbering its foe).
that is my favourite one. Love a battle where the protagonist army is backed against the walls, trying to hold against an insurmountable and oppressive tide of enemy army, where heroic sacrifice of individual soldiers shine, where the only thing making your battered body stand and face the enemy is because there is someone behind you, relying upon you. Brings tears to the eyes.
I think people take these kinds of scenes for granted. To think that our species went from simple monkes throwing rocks at each other to beings capable of crafting entire worlds that seem super “realistic” (in a visual sense) purely for fun
I've never seen starship troopers but is that based on 40k? those alien things look exactly like the tyranids and those soldiers look so much like the cadian imperial guard if not wow what a coincidence.
Chronicles of Riddick is one of the best SF movies ever (in my view) and I have seen nearly all of them. The Necromongers are superb villains. There could be an entire TV show based on them. They are a bit like the BORG, the Nazis, and a bizarre death cult combined. They have internal politics and rivalries. Then there are the Elementals and the Furyans. An entire universe of fascinating beings. I can't wait for the new film Furya to come out.
So... Actually, all of these were great choices. Each battle felt climactic in it's own universe and each had a good sense of scope and scale to them. And in some of them, I even noticed things I missed when I saw the movies themselves, like how in the Battle of Geonosis, I never quite... clicked on how the Seperatists Hailfire droids were tearing apart the AT-TE walkers with there long range missiles and really had to be specifically targetted by passing Gunships to be taken out. Little details like that add a very nice added layer of strategy and the grand tug-of-war of... well, War.
The sad part is that’s all true you feel like a wolf until you reach the battlefield you forget everything because you can’t take your own men being slaughtered some people are broken and refuse to fight so they die
The Avatar ground battle could be one of the worst strategies I've ever seen in a movie. They have a home field advantage, long range weapons, an abundance of trees & other foliage to use and attack using the element of surprise... But a head on charge against a wall of fully automatic weapons seemed like the best option?

He knew the only thing keeping his species functioning as a race was procuring the resource, that failing to procure it will result in the deaths of billions. He also knew that this race he is supposed to interact with is a violent species that already views humans as hostile and has since they touched down. Knowing that, let's evaluate his performance...From day one he: Displayed incompetence at his job, skipped working on his job in order to pursue a woman not of his species resulting in an armed conflict that he was specifically tasked with helping to avoid, betrayed his oaths to his country, the corporation that hired him, and arguably betrayed his species by siding with the navi when he knew his actions would cause the deaths of billions.
No, he's not the 'good guy'. He's actually a villain.
@@RedneckRapture the movie made it pretty clear that the corpos don’t give a flying fuck about “the good fight” lmao Jake Sully made the right decision. That’s the point of the whole movie. Are you sure we watched the same movie?
@@the_slimy_ape the good guy that betrayed mankind. Earth on that movie future depleted its resources, space mining and colonization were necessary to meet the demands of the growing population that overpopulated the planet. Unobtanium, the rock that were being mined on Pandora is a necessary mineral that are used in components for anti-matter reactors in spacecraft and factories. Essentials for mankind development over spreading to the stars.
The good guy betrayed humanity over a blue skinned primitive alien pussy.
