Glad you are on the mend. The flu ran through our shop like wild fire last week. We are just up the road in Gastonia, NC. Love the oil test keep them coming, I appreciate the time you put in to them. I know Cottontop3 had a video on how he mixes, and he was using the Motul. I have been using Opti-2 two cycle for many years (20+ years) in my chainsaws Stihl and Weed Wackers. This stuff has never failed me. I use my saw when a tree falls or if big branches fall to clean things up around the yard (not much use). The weed wacker is always used. I just purchased an outside wood boiler so I will be using my saws a lot more now. I just bought a new MS462 non-M-tronic and I have an MS260 and An MS170. I am very mechanically inclined, and I will take the mufflers off the saws and take pictures and send them to you if you would like. I have never looked inside the motor so this will be interesting for me to see as well. Because I will be running my saws a lot more now, I want to make sure they stay together.
Thanks for what you do Richard.

This is my go-to oil for years now, no other oils that I tried kept my milling saw top end live this long, pistons seem to develop visible skirt wear/thinning after about 1500-2000 hours on the mill (ms 880), or carbon scoring on these castor oils. Ran everything 32:1, but motul offroad seems to be able to handle high temps well and it burns really clean. I run it in my 500i and 881 now, same ratio.

Hey Richard, another great comparison vid. A suspension test is a great idea - these motorcycle oils are so heavy & thick and you def need to agitate them good to get them into the gas - you'd think they'd fall out of suspension easily?? Royal Purple HP2C with great results
    Maxima K2 Really clean burning
Torco GP7 , Reminds me of the Mobil MX2T
Benol , For a castor oil was surprised how clean it burnt. I Mix up a gallon or 2 a year for the "aroma".
I still have the 800 off road , Red Line 2 stroke racing oil , Klotz R50 , Bel RayH1R . left to burn through for my testing.
Word of caution - when I filled up with bean oil juice after K2. There were snots developed in the carb screen. had to give it a quick carb spray to dissolve the boogers.

Up here in Canada the Stihl oil is made by castrol. That’s what I run for the last 15 years. I’ve never had any problems. My dad also runs castrol oil in all his 2 strokes and never had any problems ever either. His 1990 Husqvarna 50 special seen a lot of use over the years cutting firewood for his main source of heat and logs for cabins, even on an Alaskan mill and that saw won’t give up. With that being said my other go to oil is amsoil dominator. Used it in my Honda ATC 250R. We always just mixed 50:1. With that being said I believe castrol is a lower grade of oil and there are alot better oils out there. That’s just our experience.

Ya my father always ran exclusively sithl premium since probably the 90s lol as long as I can remember. Mostly in concrete saws daily for masonry. Stihl saws would run hard for years with very little issue ( usely their own fault for not changing air filters lol) 50:1. Never considered using anything else. I chainsaw mill now and was gonna use ultra as per stihl recommendation. Now I don't know what to use lol

i had some motul 800 in a mixed 5 gallon of 93 ethanol free and was still mixed 1 month later in a shed. oil loves wide open throttle and i get splooge out the exhaust a little due to the high flash point, this oil is a race formula and hence the black cap, motul 710 is better for all around use like in a weedeater or chainsaw and has a green color and a much lower flash point. have use both in yard equipment and 250cc 2 stroke dirtbikes.

Noticing heat roiling off just after a high speed run can be high jet mixture
set too lean. Any excess heat is not immediately lost by reduced air flow at
idle. The saw needs a minute or two to cool down. It seems counter to what
people would think based on richer mixture doing better in cold weather, but
as hot weather arrives believing the high jet will need to be set leaner. That is
how it should work based on intake air temperature, ignoring cooling. Unless
the blower cooling and cooling fins are doing an extra good job so hot weather
doesn't matter, the high jet could need to be set even richer in summer heat
because of lost air cooling difference, to prevent cooking the saw. If a saw is
tuned for maximum performance for a limited time of use for testing or racing
that likely isn't the best mixture setting wanted for longevity of the engine being
run longer times doing different work at routine tasks. Best mixture all round
is a compromise depending on how that saw is being used. Got to tweak it.

Richard. We literally need you to spend more time describing the smell of each oil. The reality as I see it is: All of those oils are going to protect better than any of the factory chainsaw oils with the possible exception of Red Armor (but that's not really a factory oil imo). So, on a scale of 1-10, rank them by smell please. I'm not kidding. This is how important it is to me- if you tell me that the Honda oil protects as well as Red Armor and smells as good as Castor...I'm jumping ship on Red Armor and will start running Honda. Fuck cost. Gimme that sweet, sweet bean oil smell! With protection, of course.

What's your cost of dominator by the quart? Two of these are $20ish per qt/liter.

Appreciate the test but i have worked on OPE and 2 stroke motor cycles for years. jap 2 stroke bikes have been gone 17 years. kTM Husky GasGas and Beta are still making them. New 2 Stroke bike start at $7500 and probably go to $11,000 so the motorcycle oil makers do not skimp on oil. I would say the worst motorcycle oil made in the late 80’s are way better than any oil the OPE people have bottled. They make OPE not oil. Keep testing and you will see exactly what i am talking about. Way more than a piston and cylinder on a 2 stroke bike like power valves in the exhaust port with 8 plus moving parts to make them work that has to get oiled in really high exhaust temps and still get lubed and not gum up. Really the motor cycle oil is way over kill for a blower, trimmer or Saw.
