  • Hey everyone! So, I found out in Nov 2022 I was suffering from severe iron deficiency after getting my lab results from my yearly physical. Learning this news put many things into perspective with my health, diet, and most of all, HAIR! Not only am I recovering my hair, but I was also recovering my health and mental health as well and learned this year that its crucial for me to take care of myself in all areas, and I'm here to share that journey with you and the things I will learn along the way.
    With many recommendations from the comment section and online research, I started taking liquid Geritol on July 21, 2023.

    *Caution* : Since it's taking iron every day, try to drink *a lot* of water to avoid consequences of constipation. (Number of pounds in weight and divide it by 2 = number of ounces to drink each day to avoid it). Iron *WILL* make you constipated and may cause a painful rectal fissure, that rips every time you have a bowel movement if you become too constipated. (Try Colace as a stool softener if needed as well).

    Have you also tried incorporating more iron rich foods in your diet? Three times a week I make an iron rich smoothie with beets. Steam them with the skin on and when they cool down, peel them (you can use gloves). Add one or two beets to a blender, then I add mangoes, peaches, strawberries or guavas. I like fruits with a strong flavour so you can't taste the beets and then add fruit juice or milk.

    • @HereDiianas
      @HereDiianas Год назад +1

      But heme iron which is what caused hair loss, fatigue or anemia is only found in animal food like red meat or sea food like mussles. Eating fruits or vegetables will not improve anemia or iron storage. That is why many vegan especially female have to give up on that diet because they are unable to get enough iron.

      Yeppers. I would not recommend it for children especially at 12 years old and or under 18 years old and the reason being it will increase your desire to have sex. Trust me taking this over the counter med that was given to me by my mother increased my desire at age 12 to want to have sex even though, "I didn't give into my desires," it was a struggle. And still at age 12 I eventually stopped taking it and the desire went away within two weeks or so, afterwards too.

It was 13 this makes lots of sense. I did more reach ferritin(iron) needs to be at 70 for hair to stop shedding and to thicken up. Also eat more red meat. Also, limit caffeine intake. It significantly reduces the absorption of iron. Hope this helps I’m still struggling but we need to keep going.

      @t1m3z_hard_w0rld_chang1n see your doctor! I was experiencing the same thing. I bled for two months straight. 2015 I had to have a surgery that was supposed to elevate or stop it, it did neither. I also had to have a blood transfusion because I loss so much blood. 2021, same surgery, same results minus the transfusion. Tired, thinning hair (used to be long, thick & healthy) FINALLY I said NO MORE!! I TOLD my Doctor, moving forward, the ONLY thing we are talking about is hysterectomy!! Had that done in October...BEST DAY EVER!!! Cramps would be soooo bad, flow was sooo heavy , blot clots that I could feel when they passed & Lord I would be like, is that my liver 😢 (sorry to be so explicit) don't wait too much longer. I had a male doctor & a female doctor viewed my chart, thank God for her!! She told him, "yeah it's time for a permanent solution for her!" I cried when I heard her say that because that excessive bleeding was causing my organs to not receive the proper amount of oxygen as well. I apologize for being long winded, however, don't just keep going like that. A full hysterectomy might not be the answer for you. I was 53 when I got it done, on the verge of menopause, however, to be considered in full menopause, you have to be one full year without a cycle & I didn't see that happening. I had my tubes tied in my 30s, so pregnancy wasn't a fact in my decision. My life & health were. Talk with your doctor.

Go figure. In all honesty it’s cheaper to buy iron pills. Geritol is not cost effective at the dosages in one bottle. You can go through a $12 bottle in two to three wks. Just saying.

    This just popped up on my feed and I am glad it did. I don’t have any issues with low iron or anemia, but this is always good to know because I’m always taking supplements to supplement the foods that I can’t eat or I may not eat or what have you. Someone mentioned to get your thyroid checked, and I am a huge advocate of that. I would definitely recommend that but more specifically tell your doctor that you would like a thyroid functioning test. This test will check your T3, T4, and TSH levels. The tests measures the amount of thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH), thyroxine (T4), and triiodothyronine (T3) in your blood. This test is different than the basic test that they run during your annual check up and will not detect that your thyroid is malfunctioning.
    I know this from experience personally, I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism and I went 10 years without it being detected .
    it doesn’t hurt to have a test done and it will save you years of trying to figure out why is my body malfunctioning and no one is telling you if that’s the case.
    Congratulations on your channel. Peace and blessings ❤❤❤

    I take this vitamin to. My nails got stronger and long. I just cut them down. I was reading some of the comments from other YT. Some of the comments state about getting pregnant while taking the vitamin 😮. All I can say...glad it's a thing called birth control.
