I started with the blocker plate...BIG MISTAKE. Lasted two weeks before leaking out the up pipe. Went with screamin diesel Y bridge/up pipe, PCV reroute. Been 80,000 miles and zero issues. Happy diesel:)
@@minitrucks if you google the one you recommended. You’ll see it at the top for 215$ Actually looks like the Y bridge is 2 pieces too! Which would be cool. Says it uses a 3” cold pipe too!
The up pipe is 100 something but could be a $1200 job real quick when the bolts dont want to come out in one piece. I say weld your y bridge pipe and try to plug the egr branch off the up pipe and block it. The chances for bolts to break are too high. 12 point bolt heads
And for those thinking about the pcv, it's a non-issue once the egr is deleted. No intake crud after 5 years. The oily residu is there but heh, more lube.
Here is the thing if you have a STOCK truck a block off plate is just fine if you have a tuned truck and act stupid then you will need to upgrade or you will crack your pipe. Now to all the guys who have deleted your trucks the problem with this is eventually states that are not pushing smog testing or visuals right now that is going to change. Eventually these trucks that are supposed to have a EGR is going to be expected to have it on when you get inspected. Now if you want to be that guy that puts it on and takes it off every time then so be it but if you delete the pipe then you will be doing a lot of work in the future every time you need a inspection. So you may want to look into the blocker plate and if the truck is tuned drive it like you have some sense and you will be fine.
Could I change the up pipe on my lly and put a blocker plate on the egr then leave everything in there? I live in CA where they do visual inspections for smog every other year and not egr cooler and components is a dead giveaway.
I've had my y bridge intake blow out multiple times, and the cheapest solution is to pull the y bridge out and jb weld the 2 together. put a thick coat of jb all the way around and you'll never need to worry about boost leaks again. Not the most professional way but I've done it on multiple duramaxs and I've had no issues with it. so before spending $400 on an aftermarket y bridge its worth giving it a try
@Wretched SVT T.V. update, it didn't hold... I ended up removing it and getting it tig welded and then it was fine. if you wanna go that route then you can use any delete really, I used the cheap one on Amazon.
Also keep in mind where you live if you require emissions testing and if they do a visual inspection you may have to put it back to stock in order to pass your emissions so you want it to be as easy as possible to get it to pass
Hey guys. I just bought a 2005 LLY. My truck has EFI live and a blocker plate. My truck has 230,000 miles. I have it scheduled to do a full delete in 2 weeks. It’s going to cost me $740 for the delete. Is this a good thing to do if I already have the plate and EFI? Also it seems that you guys recommend doing the y-bridge and the up pipe at the same time. The up pipe is another $380 and not sure on the y-bridge. I have only had the truck for about a month and I am absolutely in love with it. I want to bullet proof it as much as possible while avoiding duplication of process (shop hours) wherever possible. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks for all of the videos. Is there one with a basic explanation of how all of these systems work. I have driven gassers all my life so diesels are a whole new ballgame for me. Thanks in advance. P.s. I just realized I’m posting from my daughter’s channel. Lol. My name is Jay.
@truckmaster Long time subscriber here your videos are great! with an LBZ with egr issues and in need to a turbo and since I’m there might as well fix points prone to issues so looking at the HSP kit. Does the HSP kit come with a pipe just like that nice blue one on this video? If not what brand do you recommend? Thank you keep up the hard work
First off thanks for your service to our Country, I thought on one of your videos you said that there was an issue with your new Y bridge. I have about $1600 saved up and just bought a 2006 LBZ this weekend . I want to do the complete EGR delete , up pipe and a fass system so is there any issues with the Y bridge,if so, is there a better way?
Hey I love all the videos. I just got a 2007.5 Duramax. I want to do a full EGR delete. That's y I'm going thru videos. I'd love to but the full delete, and a turbo from your buddy Ryan. I watched the video on your drop in turbo. After I'm able to buy everything, you should help me install it. That be awesome, my whole family follows you and they would be stoked!!. My wife has really bad cancer, going on 4th year of chemo. So if I find the extra funds and time,I'll let ya know. Thanks for all the great help. Mike
Need advice. Have an 07 Silverado LBZ. At first it was purchased as a 2nd truck to keep miles down on my 2015. Well, had to have two knee surgeries and was out of work for many months. So new truck was sold and now it’s just the LBZ. Since I now have no desire to own a new one anymore I want to make my LBZ best I can. So far I have the EGR block off kit, just removed cat and muffler from exhaust system plus did EFI Live tune. So your suggestion would be all new pipe. Looking at MBRP 4” from downpipe back. Just had it painted. I’ll try to post video on my channel. It’s stock height with stock wheels.
Can you possibly shoot me a link where the pipe with brackets attached is found? You were saying if pops off under pressure and I'd like to have a quality part to hand my mechanic. Thanks in advance for any helpful parts links, much appreciated
Truck Master yeah man it’s hard I got a lot to talk about a lot to say but no time to do so I’ll hopefully make an update here soon when I have some free time!
Not trying to be critical. Please do your videos facing the light, instead of with your back to a light source. Super hard to see the soot buildup, your face, and a half dozen other things you tried to show us. Thanks for all your good info tho! Keep up the good work!
Quick 2 questions. First, does an EGR delete or blocker plate cause a check engine light? Second, I've heard from another video a strong recommendation to get a new exhaust when doing the EGR delete? Anyone able to give a 2nd opinion on that? Thanks,
spend the money man full delete and up pipe....but if youre going to do that you might as well do full flow manifolds and up pipes. ProFab or PPE are awesome kits.
On my 2005 LLY i did a complete EGR delete. Because i get a check engine light because on the EGR valve being unpluged. Could i just remove the old valve from the manifold and plug it back in and just wire tie it up somewere. Would that shut off the check engine light. It might be a stupid question.
my 2006 lly duramax c5500 wrecker i can't seem to find any youtube videos you guys are doing it on pick ups but not these i have the heads off do to yep head gaskets all new parts are ready but i dont want to put the egr or the cooler back on any help would be great thanks
Not to knock your work but in the video where you installed the cheaper delete kit you left a bolt out of one of the brackets. I do enjoy your videos thought keep up the good work and I appreciate your service
So if I go with the y bridge like yours it won’t matter that it doesn’t have the hinges off the sides to tighten it down and prevent it from moving around like you stated on this video ?
New 2015 duramax owner, first time diesel owner. Not very educated on diesel engines, but from my understanding do I get the egr delete kit, up pipe and upgraded y bridge, exhaust and tune and I'm good to go?
the blocker plate instead of an up-pipe is no good because the belows on the lower end of your up-pipe will blow. now if you don't want to buy an lb7 up pipe you can cut the belows off your existing up pipe and weld a cap there since the belows is the weak point. so if you have access to welding then thats the cheaper option.
You can save some cash by welding the Y bridge to the elbow . If you can't weld have it done . Make reference marks for line up out of the truck. A good weld shop will do it for you as well , I say 100$ or less. Not knocking the other companies products just what I plan to do .
yea man unless you're building a race truck you aren't going to see benefits from a after market y-bridge so smart choice. you can also, instead of putting on an up pipe, you can cut back before the belows on your up-pipe and weld a cap on at that point, because it's just the belows that will blow out if you cap the up-pipe. and is cheaper than buying a lb7 up pipe thats just if you are handy at welding or are able to get a hold of one or a friend or w.e
That's true. I've been looking around a junk yards and keeping an eye on pull aparts for the lb7 up pipe . When I find one I shall start on my egr delete. Don't really want to weld to the cast up pipe . It's a bitch and depending on carbon steel content can crack with heat cycles . You can use nickle , inconel or some stainless to weld it but the process of pre heating and keeping it hot and post heat are hard to do at home for alot of people . I could do it at work but rather just have the lb7 pipe . Lol
Tbh I have talked my diesel mechanic he said the blocker plate was so much better than that completely removing the egr and putting the pipe bc he says it blows off
Does anyone know what the mysterious sensor is called on a 07 lbz y bridge I broke mine taking the turbo mouth piece off and I can't find any info on it
Is it at all possible to just bypass all that by just getting EFI live and have it egr delete it? Also, what were you guys talking about by getting the LB7 up pipe? We’re able to EGR delete that way?
Dominic Haymond you need to block off the exhaust gasses going into your engine. The up pipe going to the EGR cooler needs to be blocked. If you do a lb7 up pipe it will only go to your manifold. No egr cooler. So if you live in CA that will not be an option. So if you do block plates you can leave the egr system in your truck and just install blocker plates . If I lived outside of this hell hole California I would do a full delete witch means taking all that shit parts out like truckmaster did and be done with it.
So quick question I recently did a full EGR delete and cp3 replacement 2006 lbz I had it running in my garage for about 2 weeks often on until I could do my break lines before I pulled it out long story short I fired it up tonight for a Maiden voyage everything looked good on my ppe Standard but when I pulled it out about five minutes afterwards it died and will not start I am getting a couple different codes but just wondering if any of these will cause a nose start p0540 p0405 p0098 Any help would be greatly appreciated I watch pretty much everything you have but this is the first time I have set up an account to subscribe
Unfortunately there is no full egr delete kit with Y and elbow for the 05 lly. There are all these kits but all they have is the bridge. I know pro fab has nice bridge but again no elbow or the Y. There are full delete kits but 06 and up. If that’s not true pls let me know if there is an option. Otherwise I’m thinking of ordering a LBZ full delete and make it fit on LLY.
Egr = exhaust gas recirculator. It's just that, a system which routes a portion of the engines exhaust back into the engine in order to cut down on single pass carbon elements.
Truck Master, just want to be sure I understand this correctly. If I block off the EGR but don’t have a tune I’ll have to live with a constant Check Engine Light? Would that be the only issue to deal with?

I have a question. I want to fully egr delete my 08 lmm. It already has dpf delete and efi live/dps5 switch? So I was told when I bought it.. I'm wanting to go with what you did the y bridge setup. Where do I find this? Money isn't an issue I just want this thing to last.. I'm concerned about needing more parts than just the y bridge... Will I need to buy a full egr delete kit and a y bridge kit?
Wish I could just pay someone to do this for me, I cannot find anyone and I'm considering it because I'm having all kinds of emissions problems on my '20 Duramax and the POS GM garages around here take a month to get you in and after waiting a month today they told me sorry we don't have enough diesel mechanics to fix your truck go to another dealer which there aren't any
After watching this video & reading ALL the comments, HOLY CRAP AM I CONFUSED NOW!? I have an LMM (08 2500HD) and I thought I had all this figured out.... YA RIGHT?? Soo, I live in Communistfornia and will need to be able to pass smog from time to time. (No road side "Inspections" though) I.... "WAS"..... just going to do the EGR Blocker plate(s) so I could easily go back to stock. Now, I'm not sure because I do NOT want a check engine light on all the time. (
+Phil G. If your truck is tuned for example EFI Live, that light will go away you can also use a finger stick to fool the ecm so the Light will not come on. But not sure if Cali’s smog test can’t notice internal codes
T/M, Thank You Sir. I guess I will need to look into this finger stick. I don't mind pulling the plates/Finger in or out for Smog Checks (every 2 years.... I believe?) I just do not want to have a Constant CE light on all the time. How about the DPF System, will I be ok to just pull the sensors and tie them up out of the way while running the straight exhaust system? Thanks again for all your AWESOME videos and help!
Phil G. I believe after ‘05 MY the fingerstick will not elimnate the CEL light. For the ‘08 + years you will need a dpf delete tuning. Like EFI Live for example and dpf delete pipe bare minimum. For EGR and cooler I would just do a blocker plate or leave on and the tuning will shutoff the EGR.. atleast for smog areas like California to revert back to stock easly for testing.
James, THANK YOU BUDDY!! You don't even realize how much you just cleared things up for me. So, if I went with a Tuner like PPEI, that would allow me to remove the DPF (Run my 4" Straight Pipe) & Block the EGR off and NOT have any C/E Lights on.... is this Correct? If I may ask, do you know what I'm to do with the sensors in my DPF? (Just tie them up & out of the way or completely remove?) Is this something I need to ask PPEI to do in my Tunes, or is it common practice to incorporate these options? Again, Thank you (ALL) for the amazing help.
Phil G. Just unplug the sensors and tape off the end of the plug and zip tie up out of the way. Any tuning that is Delete tuning you are good to go. Like PPEI, Anarchy, Dutamaxtuner, etc... iI live in California so I know the easiest when it came to deleting. My ‘09 & ‘12 Ram CTD was just a delete pipe and delete tuning. Took me roughly 40 min to revert back to stock for testing.
I live in CA so block plate for me. My check light comes on and degrades my truck. Need to get a finger stick because I don't have EFI to tune out the egr . Anyone done the finger stick yet?
Jose Aguirre I want to get EFI live but on a budget right now. Just did the headgaskets and want to do a built trans before I get my EFI. How long does it take to install the finger stick and how much of a pain is it to get it in out out for smog? # California problems
never waste time on the plate its junk..u will be going back to it really soon when it cracks..I know from experience have 2016 lml with both up pipes and down pipe upgraded full 5inch exhaust..very happy ever since..PLATE SUCKS

How were you able to avoid all these trouble codes?
+Isaiah Salazar efi live tuning my friend
Truck Master awesome thank you sir!
Which efi live do you have?
Where are u located
If you do the full y pipe and ego tune is your engine light going to stay on?
+Raymond Steed the light will go away if you install efi live
I have a question. I want to fully egr delete my 08 lmm. It already has dpf delete and efi live/dps5 switch? So I was told when I bought it.. I'm wanting to go with what you did the y bridge setup. Where do I find this? Money isn't an issue I just want this thing to last.. I'm concerned about needing more parts than just the y bridge... Will I need to buy a full egr delete kit and a y bridge kit?
+Grant Oxner you need the LB7 uppipe as a Addition but that’s it. Watch my ybridge install and uppipe install video
(Just tie them up & out of the way or completely remove?)
Is this something I need to ask PPEI to do in my Tunes, or is it common practice to incorporate these options?
Andre Maritz ,hi,I had the finger stick,to many problems with it,better to get efi live!
Jose Aguirre I want to get EFI live but on a budget right now. Just did the headgaskets and want to do a built trans before I get my EFI. How long does it take to install the finger stick and how much of a pain is it to get it in out out for smog? # California problems
Andre Maritz ,it’s easy, just pay close attention to the diagram, just get efi when are able to,night and day difference!
Only negative is smog wouldn’t pass 😔
That really is not expensive to do a propper egr delete
Dnt do plate. Just dont.
Full EGR!
never waste time on the plate its junk..u will be going back to it really soon when it cracks..I know from experience have 2016 lml with both up pipes and down pipe upgraded full 5inch exhaust..very happy ever since..PLATE SUCKS
Did you have the egr disabled in tune?
Full pipe
