    Amlactin is awesome. I hated the smell at first too, but then I read the bottle (🤦‍♀️🤣) and it says it must be shaken up before use. Now I shake it up well and the smell is greatly reduced. I use it on my neck and body. Love it. Also sometimes I will spot treat with a teensy amount on a qtip dabbed directly on my milia as needed. Helps the milia exfoliate away quicker.
    Thanks Dr Dray for the information as always 😊

    Can you make a video on all the little “critters” that grow (sometimes thrive!🙃) on the skin? For example, I get confused between malesezia yeast, demodex mites, staph aurelias, etc. how can we figure out if we’re overburdened with this, ask our derm to test for it, and how it shows up as overgrowth on the skin? Can you have overgrowth of all? What’s the best one to target first?

  • @KPDanni
    @KPDanni Год назад +13

    AHAs have been my skin saviour since starting Differin to combat acne (which is prescription through a derm in Australia and is $80 AUD here 😪😭), I use the Pyunkang Yul Peeling Gel every 1-2 weeks and it is AMAZING, the weeks I don’t use it I use a gentler AHA toner, like the Krave Kale-lalu-yAHA. Without AHAs the dry, flaky skin from using adapalene is almost unmanageable no matter how much moisture I incorporate in my routine.
    But because my skin is sensitive and dry the most I can tolerate any AHA is twice a week.
    Hope this helps anyone reading the comments 😅

    I like using the Alpha Enhanced Renewal Cream 12% Glycolic Acid. On alternate nights, I also use Tretinoin for a few nights, then the L’Oreal Vitamin C on another night or two. Between these three, my skin always looks very even and clear. Occasionally, I will just use a nighttime moisturizer before bed. In the morning, I just use a daytime moisturizer plus sunscreen then makeup. None of these products has caused any irritation to the face, but I did begin using them slowly at first.

    Helloooo I'm so glad you shot this video, thank you!
    I've been wondering if I can use it with tretinoin. I've been using it on different nights
    1st night Mandelic Acid (with a mix of salicylic acid)
    2nd night tretinoin
    3rd night just rest
    (originally i had no AHA/BHA, and I would use tretinoin every other night, so I can use up whatever products from before.. trying to simplify my routine)
    mornings vitaminc c -> sunscreen
    have used up all my eye cream which I am happy, and I haven't found the need to use it really.
    I just wonder if AHA/BHA is necessary if ultimately I will build up to use tretinoin every night..? I definitely bought it on a whim cuz I was breaking out horribly and tretinoin wasn't working... but then my stress pimple/acne cleared up before I even started using it =.= bad decision on my part..
    Thank you so much for your videos, I've learned so much!

    I have been using mandelic acid as I remember you saying that hyperpigmentation could be induced. I always wondered if I switch to glycolic acid when I finish, if my skin would be okay. I also try to not use an AHA when applying retinol on my face some evenings. I started using Neostrata's new formula of Vit C with a PHA and my skin so far is liking it, I think it was some low levels of AHA's in it as well. I think mostly having a clean diet, exercise and water always helps too on the side for collagen and firming of the skin. :)

Dr Dray said that she doesn't use AHAs on her face (apart from when she tries out products), so maybe I won't make it a priority. Although Dr Dray is still very young in comparison!

    can 7% glycolic acid toner be used with 0.5 retinol serum?
    if the goal is to get rid of enlarged pores, secondary to fine lines, should AHA or salicylic acid be better?
    love your videos! so informative.

    AmLactin was a bit irritating at the beginning, but I'm glad I continued using it, my skin is soo soft and has definitely improved the hyperpigmentation in my inner thighs and armpits, I swear by this product.

    I use the neutrogena stubborn blackheads in the morning. It’s got glycolic, polyhydroxy, mandelic and salicylic acids in it, so it’s an aha/bha all in one type thing. Gotta build a tolerance to it, fyi.

    Glycolic acid is my favorite active. It produces faster results than retinoids. I always look for products that give me an acid tingle. I love the Alpha Skin Care serum, although I have graduated to Organys 20% glycolic acid serum (more of a toner, though) several times a week.
    I may try retinol again, but I have had products before that either disappointed me or made me raw (Differin). Right now I am using ascorbic and glycolic acids in my skincare to excellent results, but I think I can get away with trying retinol again. I'll just use vitamin c in the morning, and retinol or glycolic acid at night.
    Thanks to all that free time I had from the covid lock down, and Dr. Dray, I now consider myself an armchair dermatologist.

      What glycolic acid percentage did you start with?

    • @megaliberty
      @megaliberty Год назад +2

      @@flowlikewater6576 I started with the Alpha Skin Care Serum at 14% glycolic acid. I used it every day without any issues. If a formula is too strong for you, try using it every other day, or twice a week, or even once a week. Your skin may peel if you don't exfoliate often.

    I use the ordinary peeling solution once a week on my face and their 5% lactic acid daily on the face. On the body I use alpha skin care skin care renewal body lotion 12% glycolic aha daily. It has made the skin on my body so smooth.

    My husband has been using Amlactin on his face, as directed by our PCP, to help prevent the psoriasis lesions he gets in his brows and around his eyes and he's not had any issues with it. I've tried it myself on the keratosis pilaris on the backs of my arms but I don't at all like the way it feels on my hands. We recently got the new Aveeno Tone + Texture lotion with PHA and it feels the same. I don't know what makes these exfoliating lotions feel that way but I can't stand it. 😩

    I started using the cerave night serum on my arms and legs to help fade my summer tan. I do notice smoother skin especially on my knees.I think it helps with fading my tan but not too sure if it’s the serum or fall clothing. Should be safe on the body right ?
