A week ago I started to apply my vitamin C and salicylic acid serums by using your technique. I put 2-3 drops on the back of my left hand and I take my right fingertips to distribute the product on my face and neck. It seriously helped me a lot. Before, I was just rubbing the product between my hands and padding it onto my face. It always felt like the product was already absorbed in my hands than on my face. So it was a big waste of product and really not affective. Thank you Dr. Dray 😊😊😊
Huh… tbh I just drop my serum straight onto my face lol (just making sure to not touch the dropper to my face). It’s not vitamin c or an exfoliant though.

Another is toothpaste! You really just need a tiny amount to lather, just like dish soap. The most important thing is the brushing itself to disrupt biofilm and bacteria. Covering the entire toothbrush with toothpaste is excessive
Good advice! Years ago 60 Minutes did a segment about how much toothpaste to use and the dentist interviewed said that you only need a pea-size amount of toothpaste on your brush to clean teeth. It was good to hear and I've done that for years. Saved money and no longer get stomach aches from using too much toothpaste. Thank-you for mentioning! Have a great day.
Great content as always - but as someone who has struggled with makeup application for DECADES, I could not help but notice that your eye shadow is ON POINT in this video! So pretty!
Definitely!! These are much needed practical advices!! I personally have been relying on gentle body products more. I find that that saves a lot more money than we give credit for. I like using Johnson baby's shampoo/wash and salicylic shower gels as facial cleansers and they last me a long time. And they're multipurpose.
Previously I used to feel sad for using the tiny amount of product that I used which have me feel thriftly , in a bad way , mainly cause of how much volume/amount of product I would see people over the internet use, but after this video I don't feel bad anymore, and think that I use a decent amount of product.
You are so right. Too much product is often used. I saw where someone said a stick of deodorant lasted them 4 months . The same product lasted me over a year !! I just rub it up,down, up. Once a day. How much do you have to use to use it up in just 4 months ?? My goodness ! I've been using too much cleanser. I've gotta be more realistic about how much is needed. What a great idea to talk about this subject, Andrea.
I find that toners are much easier to apply when I do so to damp skin. They tend to evaporate and absorb fairly quickly which makes it rather hard to get it on the face evenly before it dries down, but when my skin is damp, it takes a bit longer to dry down and I get more of an opportunity to make sure it's evenly applied. Of course, this can be a bit risky with exfoliating toners, but it's made my life a whole lot easier and has improved my skin's hydration, too!
I have the this problem in general because I have a bathroom vent heater on simultaneously the ceiling fan on (to reduce humidity) whenever I shower... and I kid you not, the trip from shower to toilet seat to put on my skincare, my face is already dry. 😂
@Dr Dray - I am so thankful for the simple examples you talked about for sunscreen reapplication. Most content creators are very black and white with their advice, but I love that you stay true to the reality that reapplication will depend on the individual scenario (ex: rubbing your nose due to allergies- focus reapplication to that area). Simple concept, but it seems difficult for a lot of content creators to grasp or communicate effectively.

As someone with dry skin, I am definitely guilty of using several pumps of moisturizers depending on how thick or how hydrating/moisturizing it is. Same with serums/essences/toners. But it's also why I stick with body moisturizers from the pharmacy. So far my faves are from Mustela hydra bebe and Avene trixera body and face fluid.
@@ericavigil9567 most of the moisturizers i used are body or body+face moisturizers. Cheaper that way. The moisturizers i mentioned are such examples. Through the day, you should replace your moisturiser with sunscreen (which is also a moisturiser). Watch Dr Dray's daily videos whilst doing your skincare routine....Don't allow yourself to watch otherwise. I normally watch RUclips videos cast to my loungeroom/bedroom TV. Dr Dray's videos will inspire you, whilst being your daily treat "me-time" treat. At night, take your cleanser/eye make-up remover etc. into the room in which you will be watching (sitting down). Once the boring cleansing part has been done, you can rinse your face/neck and then apply the serums moisturiser etc. Even rinse your face in the kitchen if it's closer than the bathroom and complete your routine wherever it's most convenient & comfortable for you. Keep your skincare products & hand mirror in a small basket so you can take it to the most convenient room. Put a high stool in your bathroom so that you can sit down if you do all/some of your routine in there. I hope this helps. 👱♀️❤
Some great practical tips here. In terms of mental motivation, it can help to spend a few minutes just one time to work out what you want to achieve by actually doing your routine. What are your goals? Write them down. For example, "I will have healthy, hydrated skin that glows", or "I will be more protected from sun damage". Write down how this will make you feel, and really try to imagine feeling that way. Think as well about what will happen if you don't do it. For example, "My pores will be clogged" or "My skin will be at risk from sun". Write this down too, along with how those things would make you feel. Keep your list somewhere handy and refer to it whenever you don't feel like doing your skincare routine, to motivate you. Don't beat yourself up though, if you really can't manage it on occasion. I'm sure we all have those times, and being hard on yourself can be counterproductive. And finally, focus on the fact that you deserve to do these things to take care of yourself, for you
Eye creams… I realized I was buying the same ingredients in my eye cream as my face moisturizer from Paula’s Choice. However, the eye cream was much less product for the price. I know this is typical of most eye creams. $
I bought the sample bottles of Isdin Melatonik after Dr Dray,s presentation. Each bottle has lasted 3+weeks. I see decrease in my wise spots. And as newly 70 yrs od, I am quite the wiseguy.

Excellent video! Thank you! My favorite second cleanse hydrating night time cleanser went out of stock. I wasn't in the mood to try a new cleanser and hoped that it would come back in stock before I ran out. I have oily sensitive acne prone skin and sometimes my skin freaks out when I try new things so I just went sparingly with the cleanser using only one small pump each night. That was a mistake. I guess it wasn't removing enough of the oils and makeup because I started getting acne breakouts and bumpy skin. Thankfully it finally came back in stock and I went back to using two pumps. This experience taught me that it is very important to use the correct amount of product and to learn what that is
At least one esty I watch, Go See Christy, suggests placing toners/essences in fine mist spray bottles and using that way instead of pads/cotton balls.
Thank you Dr. Dray for the RICE GRAIN example. Now I know how much eye cream to apply. However what if I don’t use an eye cream around my eyes? Per your recommendation from another of your videos, I used Cerave moisturizing cream on my eyes yesterday then topped it off with Cerave retinol serum around my eyes.

I wear black hats, big polarized sunglasses and hoods all the time no matter the weather outside. I apply sunscreen before going out only on the more exposed areas like nose cheeks neck and back of hands. If i go out early before noon i typically apply the required amount. I just do not like how quick drying spf is it makes it hard to layer even over itself
I do not wear any type of cosmetics and have really dry skin. Cleansers tend to make my dryness so much worse. What type/brand of cleanser would you recommend I use? I use the GoPure line of skincare, but their vitamin C cleanser tends to make my face feel really tight. Any suggestions welcome 🤗. Also would love if you did a GoPure review if you haven’t already. Thank you so much for taking the time to share such great information. I am totally loving all your videos.
I oil cleanse with mineral oil or neutrogena unscented body oil and use vanicream face wash or cerave cream to foam cleanser. Cerave stings sometimes. I’d recommend either the gentle cleanser from cerave or cetaphil if you’re super dry but if you like more of a lather try the vanicream one!
I use a fairly minimal amount of pretty much everything I use except sunscreen and...eye cream. I started out using a rice grain but as time has gone on, I just found that I like to use more (which is why I buy >$15 CeraVe eye creams).
Try to find products that have a good spread (everything from serums to moisturizers to shampoos). Makes a huge difference in how much product I use anyways! Unfortunately, they do tend to be more expensive. But last a lot longer.
I've tried oil cleansing even if I use a tiny little bit my skin gets angry, my skin doesn't like no oil at all and it's frustrating because I keep hearing that oil treats wrinkles smooth skin and gets rid of discoloration but my skin just won't tolerate it, it's very humid right now so anything I put on my face I end up getting little tiny whiteheads around my jaw and I'm sorry but I have to get rid of them so I use one of those tools to help pop them away it's disgusting! If I was to put oil or anything greasy on my face my face would be covered all over with those gross whiteheads! I'm at the age where I'm trying to treat wrinkles and aging, but I still get acne I still have so much discoloration and it's like I feel I can't take care of both anti-aging and acne at the same time!!! I don't want to sound ridiculous but sometimes it feels like my own skin is bullying me as ridiculous and weird as that sounds ☹️😢😥
Oil isn't going to do a squat for your wrinkles or pigmentation/discolouration that's just complete rubbish from beauty influencers. They're emollients and little else. You and I don't need oil my friend unless you get dry patches of skin all over your face but I doubt it if you're that pimple prone like me. I don't go near oil as someone with oiler skin prone to blackheads or pimples. I'm 42. I use cleansing oil, that's it. I wash that off thoroughly and then use a second proper cleanser afterwards (and other products to help combat pimples/blackheads like a BHA Salicylic Acid to keep my pores clean in the AM and Niacinamide + Zinc from The Ordinary in summer especially plus my tretinoin). I'm also highly selective about what oil I use, I typically use mineral oil because it's cheap and non-comedogenic. Are you using a comedogenic oil? Olive Oil, Coconut Oil, Macadamia Oil things like that I avoid like the plague. Look up for low to non-comedogenic oil. If you seriously can't tolerate even cleansing oil then fragrance free micellar water? I use completely oil-free products other than that. There's no way I'm going to leave oil on my face I will get pimples immediately. You're not really missing out on anything without oil in your other products. If you're worried about aging then number one thing is retinol or even better, tretinoin or Differin in the PM, sunscreen and some antioxidants in the AM (CoQ10, Vitamin C, Vitamin E). Oil just no. Useless. Discolouration Vitamin C and tretinoin also help with pigmentation and brightening and evening out a bit so it's a two in one product there with both of those. You could also try Azelaic Acid see what that does to even your skin tone, hard to know what your discolouration issue is if it's rosacea, sun spots, freckles, PIE who knows. Search Dr Dray for specific skin issues. I find Azelaic Acid helps my redness and helps a bit looking more even-toned. If you have sunspots/age spots the best there is hydroquinone. I recently got rid of a huge sunspot on my cheek in a week (not kidding) with concentrated spot-treating blew my mind I couldn't believe how fast it went I'd been working on that sucker for a decade. Though, that's for short term use only and you may not be a fair skin tone. I am so spot treating with HQ doesn't leave weird white patches for me I am white. If you're maybe medium to dark skintone you might wanna see a dermatologist to see about your options there...OTC if HQ isn't possible, maybe Kojic Acid, Alpha Arbutin, something like that plus as said over time the retinol/retinoids will slowly help with hyperpigmentation too. Occasional AHA peels might also help. Choose your moisturiser wisely too.
As Dr Dray said in the video, some oils contain antioxidants (which you can get in plenty of other products that aren't oil anyway so who cares) and otherwise help smooth rough patches of dry skin on your top layer of skin. That's it. That is all they do.
@@taranullius9221 I have two cousins that have been using oil and it's transformed their skin they both look amazing and I'm jealous I can't use those oils they don't suffer with acne like I do but I want my ugly skin to transform like theirs
P.S. Azelaic Acid can also help acne as well. In Australia we sell it specifically for acne at the chemist it's a line called "Azclear" that has a cleanser and leave on which I use. The leave-on is quite high it's 20% Azelaic. The Ordinary has a 10% Azelaic leave on, finacea is a 15% gel/cream that usually gets prescribed for rosacea but I'm not sure if we get that in Australia. I cycle my cleansers between an active and a gentle so I don't get too irrorated with my tretinoin use.
@@taranullius9221 I've heard that that can treat acne but here in my city I haven't seen it in cleanser form only in moisturizer form, I bought it in moisturizer form because it says it helps with discoloration I've been using it for 3 months so far I haven't really seen much difference but if I can find it in cleanser I would like to try it

And finally, focus on the fact that you deserve to do these things to take care of yourself, for you
thank you so much for all your knowledge. your amazing!🌻🌻🌻
Very informative! Thank you.
This is actually a VERY useful video! Great content
Very useful video!
I love PIQUE Tea I just ordered sordered some it tastes so delicious
Your videos are the best! I’ve learned so much and love your no-nonsense style.
Eye creams… I realized I was buying the same ingredients in my eye cream as my face moisturizer from Paula’s Choice. However, the eye cream was much less product for the price. I know this is typical of most eye creams. $
Always wondering about this. Thank you Dr. Gray👍
Great idea for a video. Very helpful 👍
Excellent presentation, thank you! I could have written the script for you, seems like common sense and exactly what I have been doing.
I’ve definitely been overusing the cleansing products 😅
Dr Dray I am going to start on my retinol pls wish me luck😊😊
Thank you for all the effort ur making to educate doc ❤
I bought the sample bottles of Isdin Melatonik after Dr Dray,s presentation. Each bottle has lasted 3+weeks. I see decrease in my wise spots. And as newly 70 yrs od, I am quite the wiseguy.
Thank you 😊
Amazed this popped up, I was wondering about this just this week

Hi Jackie! I hope you're doing well. I'm praying hard for the people and animals too that are being impacted by the hurricane. 🙏 My heart hurts for them. Peace and blessings to you. Sleep well, friend. ❤
Hello from Vietnam, my skincare queen.
You are super dr Dray 👍♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
I gifted the Pique tea Holiday music box and she loved it ❤️❤️❤️ thanks for recommendation
Good tip on how to apply toner! I was patting it in gently
I bet most people overdo some and not enough spf 🙏🇬🇧
Ok, I finally gave in after about a year of you talking about Pique tea and I bought a sampler package. I’m hoping they make a nice ice tea.
Great tips! I learned a lot
8:30 omg !! i actualy do this !! i tried maaany ways and this felt the best
This experience taught me that it is very important to use the correct amount of product and to learn what that is
How many layers of different products can you use before you completely dilute your active ingredients?
Hi Dr. D! Super helpful info today! Happy Fall, lows in the 40’s this morning, and lovin’ it. Thanks, and see ya tomorrow
You too! Glad for cooler temps!
I use less than a pea size amount of cereve cleanser and it's plenty to get a good coverage once lathered up
This helps so much ! Thank you for taking the time to do this video for us ! ☺️💜☺️
You are so welcome!
Very helpful - thank you
At least one esty I watch, Go See Christy, suggests placing toners/essences in fine mist spray bottles and using that way instead of pads/cotton balls.
Greetings d b hope u r well n Happy Wednesday😀👍💜….
Hi d b!

Thank you, this was so helpful
Thank you Dr. Dray for the RICE GRAIN example. Now I know how much eye cream to apply. However what if I don’t use an eye cream around my eyes? Per your recommendation from another of your videos, I used Cerave moisturizing cream on my eyes yesterday then topped it off with Cerave retinol serum around my eyes.
And she also named the type of rice. She's so awesome
This was such a useful video
I find that with a beard, I need way more product for everything haha...that includes tretinoin. I don't experience any irritation though..
Great informative content. I just ran out of. My maelove serine, and dermatology anti aging serums, and I know I used tooo much!!! Wasted money!! Will follow your guidelines ❤❤❤❤
Can you do a video or short on how much shampoo and conditioner to use?
Happy Wednesday! 😊

I’d recommend either the gentle cleanser from cerave or cetaphil if you’re super dry but if you like more of a lather try the vanicream one!
try milk cleansers like the one by sioris and use oil cleansers for makeup removal
i use the Simple brand cleansing lotion or the Water Boost Micellar Facial Gel Wash for my dry skin. I no longer feel tight or itchy after cleansing
I use a fairly minimal amount of pretty much everything I use except sunscreen and...eye cream. I started out using a rice grain but as time has gone on, I just found that I like to use more (which is why I buy >$15 CeraVe eye creams).
Thanks for this ❤
Try to find products that have a good spread (everything from serums to moisturizers to shampoos).
@@taranullius9221 I've heard that that can treat acne but here in my city I haven't seen it in cleanser form only in moisturizer form, I bought it in moisturizer form because it says it helps with discoloration I've been using it for 3 months so far I haven't really seen much difference but if I can find it in cleanser I would like to try it
happy Wednesday everyone :)
