I double cleanse using the Marcelle fragrance free micellar water, then wash my face with the Neutrogena Ultra gentle creamy cleanser or the Hydro Boost cleansing gel. My skin is very sensitive with mild rosacea - a simple cleansing routine keeps my skin happy 🥰 Take care everyone 🌹
I also have rosacea and find that micellar water is a great first cleanse for me too. I just rub it around with my clean hands, no towel. I get too red if I try to use a cloth.

For me-Bioderma or Simple Micellar water, then Neutrogena ultra gentle cleanser or Cetaphil gentle skin cleanser (whichever is cheapest at the drugstore). It’s been years since I tried another cleanser. I’ve been curious about an oil cleanser, esp in the winter. The only one I tried years ago was dhc and it was not good for my skin. I may try dr dray’s recc of the Kose oil. The idea of giving myself a little massage with the oil at the end of the day is appealing.
I placed an order at Stylevana the day after I first saw you use/discuss the DHC oil cleanser-I ordered the DHC cleansing oil & a headband (to keep hair out of my way when washing my face) with it in a set, wrist guards to prevent water running down my arms, & the Isntree cleanser as well! My order just shipped! Looking forward to using less or zero makeup wipes-they always felt gross to me anyway! I also picked up some Ponds cold Cream from my local Walgreens. Trying to simplify my routine while having rosacea & these products are Dr. Dray approved!! 😊❤
I double cleanse nearly every day, regardless if I'm wearing makeup or water resistant spf. I just find it so soothing. Since starting my second round of accutane, I sometimes wash my face in the morning with just albolene and pat off with a makeup remover wash cloth. It feels soo good!
I live in Taiwan and have been double cleansing since teenage years~ I have combination-oily skin and use water-resistant sunscreen every day. Double cleansing really helps break up all the particulates from the air, cosmetic residue, and sebum production, and I've never had an acne breakout~ Kose - Softymo IS MY FAVORITE!!! especially they sell these refill bags, so I can keep reusing the bottle~
Good molecules has a good cleansing balm as well. I was pleasantly surprised with it. I’ve used a number of different balms and I’ve never been disappointed. Also, for anyone else who cares, I don’t like oils…too hard to get off, so I end up rubbing too hard-defeating the purpose.
I’m having a similar issue with gentle cleansers in the shower. Currently using neutrogena creamy gentle cleanser and because it doesn’t foam up, I’m constantly rubbing it and probably using too much-defeating the purpose entirely 😅
I use Kose and it's oily and for me I just use warm water and I don't have to scrub hard to take out the oiliness and I will definitely look at good molecules
Ever since I discovered oil cleansing, it had completely changed my skin. I have oily acne prone skin and used to think oil cleansing would just make my oiliness worse but I was wrong, if anything I’m less oily now and don’t break out as often. My favorite has always been the Sioris cleansing oil but a recent favorite has been the Softymo one too
@@aabish108 Personally I prefer cleansing oils. I find that most micellar waters either leave a film on my skin afterwards or require a lot of friction and that just irritates my skin. And for me, cleansing balms require a little more work to melt and can get very messy if you don’t scoop out enough. In my opinion, the best cleansing oils are the ones that are very watery, almost to the point where it doesn’t look like an oil, because it’ll spread and wash off easier. I find that a light massage around the nose and cheek area is enough to unclog sebaceous filaments and that helps prevent whiteheads and blind pimples
I love your videos!!! Gotta say, a friend of mine recommended me the Beauty of Joseon cleansing balm almost a year ago, and I've been repurchasing ever since!!! It's so good and always leaves my skin feeling super duper soft (I have sensitive combo skin) I'm glad more people are talking about this one!!!
Because of your channel I discovered the magic of the BoJ cleansing balm. It is so luxurious that it is a perfect way to end a busy day and just transition to relax mode
the kose speedy or regular oil cleanser and the shiseido perfect whip face wash have been my go-to combo for so many years. whether i'm just wearing sunscreen or a full face of makeup, the combo always gets rid of everything without any residue. I've tried micellar water and cleansing balms, but nothing compares to oil cleansers when it comes to cost and ease of use. I wash my face at night in the shower so I never worry about getting the oil all over my bathroom floor 😊
Paula's Choice cleansing oil and also Clinique's Take the Day Away balm are both excellent, too. I used to use jojoba or mineral oil first, then my regular cleanser, but now that cleansing oils are formulated to be cleansers, I don't waste time with a 2nd step. I really want to try that yam root line! It looks so gentle that it could take the place of the oil cleanser!
I have ordered a few times from Stylevana, but after my last order I will never order from them again. Their customer service, if there’s a problem, is truly terrible! My order was in California (about four hours from where I live) for two months before it arrived. It seemed like it was lost and every time I contacted their customer service, they would only respond with the tracking information. Even when asking for a refund, I would get the same response. It eventually arrived, but I just hope all the sunscreens I ordered weren’t sitting somewhere hot over those two months. 😕
I’ve had issues with getting my orders from YesStyle during the summer. It is frustrating to run into that lack of customer service!! I’ve ordered from Stylevana but long ago so I don’t recall if they were any better. 🤦🏽♀️🤷🏽♀️
Stylevana is the worst company I’ve ever dealt with. I don’t think influencers know how bad the company is because they don’t actually have to pay for anything.
I've been doing a double cleanse for many years. I wouldn't cleanse my skin any other way. Before I first discovered it and was only doing a single cleanse, there would be traces of makeup on my towel so I know I wasn't getting my skin completely clean. I've tried many oils and balms over the years but really like Inkey List, Elf and Albolene. There are a couple that you've recommended today that I'd like to try. Thanks, as always, for all you do. Happy Tuesday, Dr Dray! I hope you have a tranquil evening. ❤
I tried the beauty of joseon cleansing balm and it burned so bad and turned my face really red it took about a week for the irritation to go away. I’ve also had the same reaction with the sunscreen. Beware if you have sensitive skin.
Double cleansing has made the biggest difference to the health of my skin. Makes so much sense…oil (attracts and) removes oil. I’ve heard it’s a good idea to massage the oil/balm for a minute or more. Thoughts?
It's definitely a good idea because the oil cleanser doesn't really strip the skin. I oil cleanse every day at night. And I can promise you I go way past a minute, heck, it's more like 10 or 15 minutes bcs I just get carried away, relaxed and love it when those nasty oil plugs come out of my skin 😂. Just make sure you're properly emulsifying that cleansing oil and washing in off, then use a good, non stripping water based cleanser next.
u can do up to 5 minutes if ur skin can handle it. i just do 2-3 minutes everyday bc that's enough for my skin. don't oil cleanse for too long if u have sensitive skin though - i once went 20 minutes in and it dried my skin out lol
I've been using the LRP or the Missha Makeup Remover. Neither irritates my eyes and I use both with just my hands and both work very well. I then go in with an oil cleanser, then a mild milk or gel cleanser. Also been loving the Stratia Velvet cleansing milk or the HaruHaru Wonder black rice cleansing gel. Many blessings!!!💖💖💖
Cleansing balms/oils are gamers for my oily acne prone skin. I know this because I stopped using cleansing balm for 6 months during my minimalist/no-buying stuff challenge, and my pores were a hot mess, with layers of sunscreen buildup, lol! 😂
@@Viridian88 the Iunik cleansing oil is an excellent alternative to the ones mentioned here. I have been double cleansing with oils for 16 years now, I used the DHC oil for ages and 3 years ago I discovered the Iunik cleansing oil, it is slightly lighter and glides in a beautiful way. it has just a mild calendula smell. If you want something unscented, Haruharu Wonder has its own cleansing oil too. They are both of excellent quality, they contain no mineral oil are so soothing. Do not worry if you have oily skin, cleansing oils actually balance your skin's oil production as they do not strip and your skin is not driven to go into over production to compensate.
I am using micellar water followed by cleanser (both very gentle and fragrance free) and my face is super clean after. I wear make up almost every day and my sunscreen is not water resistant. My skin is sensitive, prone to break out very fast if there are oils (most of them), essential oils, any ingredient that contains in the name: olivate, oleate, mystrate, isostearate and other few. I discovered this after about an year of trial and error in order to build a skincare routine. Was even harder to find a sunscreen suitable for my “special” skin. So is good that the rest of the world can use a cleansing oil/balm and I’m happy that some brands sell micellar water and it’s all for me. 😁 Every time I hear or read “room temperature” I’m wondering what this means. I saw reviews about beauty fridges and people said that is not necessary because you can keep all skincare and/or some medicine at room temperature. I live in Australia in a two storey house where summer can be very hot (48 degrees celsius) and even indoor temperature is quite high. I have AC but I also have a job and I use AC in the evening when I come back from work and in weekends I go out. So during the summer and even spring (now is spring here and we had few days with 38 degrees celsius) most of the time “room temperature” is over 30 degrees celsius upstairs. But I’m sure if you live in Siberia room temperature should be fine and you don’t need a beauty fridge. 🙂
Depends on what is on my face that day. Waterproof stuff=double cleanse. Love the DHC cleaning oil too! Picked it up for a song at Sam's. (But after that one time never found it there again). Definitely will check out Stylevana--Christmas is coming!

Thank you Dr Dray for being here on youtube for so long and still offering much needed information to us! I love double cleansing. Unfortunately I find that cleansing oils and balms trigger a rosacea flare for me. I now use the Avène Tolérance extremely gentle lotion cleanser as a first step (as recommended by you in a previous video) and I follow with the Vanicream cleanser. It works like a charm! Hi Jackie!! Happy Tuesday! I hope you had a lovely day and that you're doing well. It was cloudy and chilly here. I like to come home from work, put my E.l.f. cleansing balm on, and just let it sit for a while while I do dishes or whatever. Then I rinse it off/do 2nd cleanse and start my skincare. I just love the way it feels, and it has nice ingredients. I don't know if I am helping or hurting anything by doing that since the sunscreen and makeup are also still on my face while the balm sits.
So interesting, I just use olive oil and thats it. I don’t buy anything special. I use it as the first step and to remove my makeup too. Works like a charm.

I really like the inkey list oat cleaning balm. Most of the time I use it on its own, sometimes gently wipe with a towel if I’m feeling a little greasy
I was disappointed in the oat cleansing balm. Felt gritty and pretty tacky, not easy to spread. Irritated my skin. I do better with the cleansing oils I guess.
The right cleansing balm is definitely the key! The only ones I’ve ever found that rinse totally clean, super easily are the Neutrogena makeup remover melting balm (blue container) & the Hado Labo cleansing oil

I have the Good Molecules cleansing balm and I actually really love it (I’m almost out of it). I just want to switch it up to see how I like a cleansing oil vs balm.
Double cleansing stains my sink, woulnd't be surprised if it clogs up the pipes too. So I do stick to micellar water or use cotton pads or wash cloth to remove the oil cleanser when I'm not lazy.
I love double cleansing, my skin has improved a lot since I started a few years ago. I only use cleansing oils, they work better for my dry skin then cleansing balms do. I really enjoy the Bioderma Atoderm Cleansing Oil. Does have a light scent but works well for my dry skin. I even use it as a morning cleanser sometimes.
I love a double cleanse! Hada labo cleansing oil followed by Prequel glycerin based cleanser. The prequel is new, I was using vanicream cleanser to avoid burning 🥵
Deep cleansing oil for me and also trying the new Prequel glycerin cleanser. I was skeptical at first w the cleanser if it would really clean my skin and it did and it feels hydrated and soft compared to my usual LRP foaming cleanser
I can only imagine the pleasant sensation of an oil-based cleanser because I still haven't used one yet, but in time I shall, and I'm sure that my current-based opinion on that matter will be 100 percent positive. I can't wait to try my first oil-based cleanser, and of course I totally agree with the double cleanse both on the scalp and the face. Thank you, Dr.Andrea for informing us about the benefits and the great importance of a double cleanse and possibly incorporating it into our everyday skincare routine 😊❤😍.

I have combination skin with VERY stubborn sebaceous filaments and none of rather aggressive cleansers and peelings with all sorts of acids could deal with them. With double cleansing, using some basic mild products, my skin is really clean now and my pores never looked as good before!
@@jesicarosaline atm I use cerave foaming oil and salicylic acid gel, but before that I used random local hydrophilic oil and foam and they worked perfectly well

Went to order. Had to go through the process twice because of some glitch. On the second attempt, they did not offer the free shipping order that I saw the first time. I left the site without ordering. The pop ups drove me a bit crazy, too.
Habo labo is my favorite cleansing oil. I will try a new one here and there but i always go back to it. And Of course it was recommended by dr day years ago.
i am loving the Cereve oil cleanser. If I'm using any water proof make up like eyeliner or mascara, I will triple cleanser but I go in first with the Clinique cleansing balm. I can never use cleansing wipes as they do irritate my skin.

Those wrist guards to prevent water running down your arms are a game changer!
Proseacea has a lot of good Walgreens reviews
I double cleanse nearly every day, regardless if I'm wearing makeup or water resistant spf. I just find it so soothing. Since starting my second round of accutane, I sometimes wash my face in the morning with just albolene and pat off with a makeup remover wash cloth. It feels soo good!
Same on both, I just use the inkey list balm instead of albolene.
What’s a makeup remover wash cloth?
Purito has a great cleansing oil. Works well on mascara and leaves no film. Makes skin feel soft to me.
I just started double cleansing and this video is exactly what I needed! Thank you! ❤️
I have been loving Farmhouse Fresh - Make it Melt cleansing balm. Bonus, portion of proceeds goes to rescue farm animals. ❤
Hi friend! I have combination-oily skin too! What color bottle do you use? :)
@@TuskTheRipper96 The pink/baby blue one~
I was hoping for a video like this! Please keep reviewing Asian beauty! I love the videos where you pick a category and review a few products. 🎉
I love the DHC cleansing oil. Can't see myself paying $19.49. Sticking to my budget Ponds Cold Cream.
Softymo is my favourite the way it rinses off is awesome!
My all time one-and-done cleansing oil is Tatcha's THE CAMELLIA CLEANSING OIL. It's pricey, but well worth it.
I was just going to mention the Good Molecules cleansing balm - so good!
My favorite has always been the Sioris cleansing oil but a recent favorite has been the Softymo one too
Oil cleanser/ cleansing balm/ micellar water which one is gud for double cleansing for oily acne prone skin?
I love Ponds Cold Cream to double cleanse followed by Cetaphil Gentle Cleanser 😍
I had the worst breakout after using it 3 times. How long have you been using it?
@@seldomblank4611 For about a year. I take it off with a warm wet towel followed by Cetaphil.
I’m 69 and for the past 40 yrs have always come back to the Lancôme eye makeup remover (in the blue bottle) melts off!
This Dr saved my skin from getting worse. She is indeed a hero to the people.
I agree I feel so blessed to have found her channel
I just use an oil cleanser or cleansing balm - no 2nd step - and that has solved all of my skin problems!
A lot of people complained about them in a past video regarding the long delivery wait
@@missmoonstone6260, I've heard that the influencers get their products very quickly. They don't have to wait for months on end like we do
I've been doing a double cleanse for many years. ❤

I settled on Farmacy Green Clean. It’s a perfect balm, really effective and rinses off well.
The hado labo cleansing oil is definitely a favorite but I really have to try the beauty of joseon oil & balm. They seem great.
they are great options!
Been using Lush Ultrabland for years, followed by micellar water then wash with African black soap before moisturising.
I’m kinda scared of oil-based cleansers as I’ve got oily, seborrheic myself. Which ones do you prefer?
All the cleansing balms and oils Dr Dray mentioned are very good. I have tried all of them, I enjoy using the BOJ cleansing balm the most.
@@babspumpkin549 Thanks for sharing, both of you. :)
I love minimalist challenges because they make you understand what you really need and what you can get rid of!
Every time I hear or read “room temperature” I’m wondering what this means.
I love to try different cleaning oils but always go back to the OG Hada Labo.
it is so good
Hi Dr. Dray, if you're able to answer-- is double cleansing still beneficial if you don't wear makeup? Or is it toomuch? Thanks for your informative videos!
it can help with sebaceous filaments
Thank you Dr Dray for being here on youtube for so long and still offering much needed information to us! I love double cleansing. Unfortunately I find that cleansing oils and balms trigger a rosacea flare for me. I now use the Avène Tolérance extremely gentle lotion cleanser as a first step (as recommended by you in a previous video) and I follow with the Vanicream cleanser. It works like a charm! Happy Tueasday!

Which cleansing oil is good for close comedones sensitive acne prone skin??
I like to come home from work, put my E.l.f. cleansing balm on, and just let it sit for a while while I do dishes or whatever. Then I rinse it off/do 2nd cleanse and start my skincare. I just love the way it feels, and it has nice ingredients. I don't know if I am helping or hurting anything by doing that since the sunscreen and makeup are also still on my face while the balm sits.
So interesting, I just use olive oil and thats it.
I don’t buy anything special. I use it as the first step and to remove my makeup too. Works like a charm.
Can I use it for my acne prone skin as well ?
Hsve done that with olive oil and also jojoba oil
Worked fine enpugh (not that I weae barely ever any makeup
I would be curious to try a balm instead though
Yes. @@ImShireen
Many cleansing balms leave a heavy residue and no "mild" cleanser will get rid of it. So not surprised it could break people out.
The right cleansing balm is definitely the key! The only ones I’ve ever found that rinse totally clean, super easily are the Neutrogena makeup remover melting balm (blue container) & the Hado Labo cleansing oil
i just purchased the peach & lily ginger melt oil cleanser and the mini DHC cleansing oil today at Ulta.
I’m excited to see how they work for me.
I have the Good Molecules cleansing balm and I actually really love it (I’m almost out of it). I just want to switch it up to see how I like a cleansing oil vs balm.
Sometimes I feel like my skin is too coated after the cleansing balm... and yay Stylevana code!!! 💜💜💜
Yeah, rinsing off is key
Double cleansing stains my sink, woulnd't be surprised if it clogs up the pipes too. So I do stick to micellar water or use cotton pads or wash cloth to remove the oil cleanser when I'm not lazy.
I enjoy using The Ordinary’s squaline cleansing balm- which was one that this channel recommended, in relation to saving money.
God Bless 🙏🏻😇
I don’t wear makeup, just skincare… do I need do to double cleansing?
Fantastic video. I’m a big fan of DHC oil and I’m just starting to explore cleansing balms. Thank you!
Happy Tuesday Y’all. Bc of rosacea I find cleansing face one time a day, in the evenings w my shower works best. I do a cool splash on face in the mornings. Any double cleansings w oils flare my rosacea up😮😢

I just started double cleansing but started using the albolene per your recommendation, and I love it. I need to try a cleansing oil next
I have combination skin with VERY stubborn sebaceous filaments and none of rather aggressive cleansers and peelings with all sorts of acids could deal with them. With double cleansing, using some basic mild products, my skin is really clean now and my pores never looked as good before!

Medicube cleansing oil is amazing. Removes the hardest waterproof mascara.
Softymo Speedy Cleansing pink one burns my eyes I prefer the yellow called Deep because it doesn't burn my eyes. As for DHC, my skin can't tolerate it possibly due to the olive oil which may not be esterified (I can't read the ingredients in Japanese). My skin itches and I get folliculitis afterwards.
I prefer balms. I'm messy and find them easier to use to remove makeup. Elf's version is great, but most balms I've tried work well.
I love the oils for double cleansing thanks Dr Dray.
DHC is also good but I still favor Lancôme 👍🏻
