best tutorial i've seen so far, thank you. the presenters in all the other videos have higher pitched American voices, so your preset was a perfect starting point for my deeper Australian voice.
I've watched so many of these EQ videos lately... Honestly it's great to have so many varying opinions and ideas to mess with and choose from. Although it's difficult deciding which EQ to go with. 😆
Damn after my 3rd video of settings guide, i stock at the same SHT haha I really dont know wich one to use because there so many good guides out there :(
Great settings. Used them as a base and adjusted them a little bit to suit my voice a bit more. I personally set my de-esser to 25% because I found it too harsh sounding with it much lower than that. I tried the 50% de-esser you mentioned in your video out of curiosity, and I agree with you there. A 50% de-esser sounds really unnatural and weird. I personally found it best to go in 5% increments if you want to add a de-esser and find the right de-esser that way.
This is just what I needed! I followed your other GoXLR settings video before this, and I love how defined it sounds. One question I have is how would you configure the settings on the GoXLR Mini since it's a 6 Channel rather than the 10 Channel?
thank you so much for the video, the mic settings are PERFECT! i feel like i need a bit more gain but i can gain them in a gain filter in OBS unless you wouldnt recommend that
If you need more gain just add in more gain during mic setup, like in the video I said, your quiet moments should be in the middle of the "quiet" sections and the loudest you get normally shouldn't clip. Then in the compression settings adjust the makeup gain so that in your OBS your voice is averaging in the yellow/red area. For example me speaking quietly is around -10db and me yelling is -1db
been looking around for better settings then what i had. this helps get my voice where i wanted it to be, but now my problem ive noticed is that when i exhale through my nose its blowing out my mic. used to not have my mic as close to my face as i do now lol. xD
My Shure has been picking up my PC noise air movement in my room (I don’t have a studio or sound proofing lol) I’ll have to give these settings a go and see if that helps. Been watching so many videos like this
Great video. I'll be buying a goxlr soon. Maybe the mini not sure yet. Waiting on my gpu so I can finish my pc build. Socks you can't use it on Mac. I think I will go to gaming eventually and streaming should I just get the mini or the big version. Thanks.
There is no real reason to use a cloudlifter if you have the goxlr, but what you would do is set the goxlr to condenser and set the gain to around 30db if you had the cloudlifter in line. Otherwise everything is the same
I use mine at 62 db makes the sound a fair bit higher so my stream can hear very well with all the gunfire and all, is fine to use with the same settings but the 62db instead?
Is your goxlr audio monitoring sound boxy like mine? I mean the recording quality of my voice is perfect but during the recording when I hear myself talking the sound of my voice is so much worse. Is this normal?
hi , I wanted to ask you about how to get rid of the background noise while speaking like the keyboard sound or mouse clicking ?? I use the shure sm7b with the go xlr mini
I have a friend that streams, she is really struggling to stop the background noise, also the echo using this setup. Any chance I could link you her stream and get some advice?
I've noticed on my GO XLR that for Equalizer for example, when you have the menu shortened so you can just see BASS MID TREBLE and set these to say 6, -1, 4, for example then set the curve settings when expanding the menu that this the changes the BASS MID and TREBLE settings when the menu is shortened again and vice versa? its like what ever you set on the curve settings you talk about for EQ then moves the BASS MID TREBLE settings :S
When shortened the settings applied will just put that number across all of the frequencies under that region, when fully expanded you can adjust each frequency manually and then when it's shortened the numbers for bass, mid, treble will average out what you set the frequencies to.
@@Frozen-vv6rn I'd recommend to just return it to be honest i talked to the support and they said the mic doesn't pair well with the mixer. Or you could try the bigger mic cover that the shure sm7b gives you in the box if you're using that mic anyways gl. I got my money back from amazon maybe gonna try the rodecaster pro mixer
My professional experience with dynamic microphones is that the SM7B is much worse than the old Shure SM5B. I used this in the 1979s for twenty years. The SM5B is the best ever made by Shure. So it now used cost ower 1000 dol.
Watch my updated video on the GOXLR and SM7b: ruclips.net/video/9hz9VTD7rpk/видео.html
Had to come back and find this video after setting up a new PC. Honestly, your settings were what worked best for me. Thank you so much, Jolly.
DUDE! My Shure SM7B was sounding like crap before I found this video. Just applied your settings and it is night and day, thank you!!!
I just purchased the SHURE SM7B MICROPHONE and I love it!!! Also I purchased the Goxlr along with it!
Knocked out the last bit of my background noise while talking and hopefully my peaking. Legend.
Just bought the GOXLR and waiting for it's arrive. Will use your settings! Thanks!

great video dude, ive been looking for someone with a deeper voice like me to compare setups for this mic! great tutorial!
gonna try this when my SM7B arrives! Thanks!
Cheers man! Super high quality content. Wishing you luck with your channel in the future!

Thank you very much foe the tutorial, it was super helpful I was getting so much background noise before
Thanks for the tips! Killer.
nice video buddy keep it up!

Awesome video!! Where are your 2 switches under the mic set at??
Both completely flat
@@JollyLegend Thanks!!
Yup I love these settings
i just watched to compare settings but jesus christ can you read me bed time stories! your voice is just so relaxing lol
Haha thanks, ngl I was actually planning on doing something like that, like read out books or something that people could fall asleep to.

really helpful, thank you
Glad it was helpful!
I wish the setting for the Goxlr and the mini was the same settings lay out bc this sounds amazing but it doesnt look the same as a mini.
Does the Shure SM7B need a driver? Unfortunately, I have a permanent noise. It sounds like a "clang".
Would these settings apply if you are using a cloud lifter as well? and should I set my gate threshold higher if i am using a cloudlifter?
There is no real reason to use a cloudlifter if you have the goxlr, but what you would do is set the goxlr to condenser and set the gain to around 30db if you had the cloudlifter in line. Otherwise everything is the same
You are excellent so i becom a subscriber
cool
cool
best goxlr video
Thanks so much!!
How would you configure the GOXLR MINI since it’s 6 channels rather than 10 channels.
Nice video! Are you using a cloud lifter or are the preamps good enough on the goslr?
Just the preamps alone on the GOXLR, and set to only 50db, the GOXLR maxes out at 72db so it does not need a cloud lifter whatsoever.
I use mine at 62 db makes the sound a fair bit higher so my stream can hear very well with all the gunfire and all, is fine to use with the same settings but the 62db instead?
what would the EQ settings look like for the GOXLR mini
Is your goxlr audio monitoring sound boxy like mine? I mean the recording quality of my voice is perfect but during the recording when I hear myself talking the sound of my voice is so much worse. Is this normal?
What EQ settings would you use on the GoXLR mini? I have the same mic but with using the GoXLR mini.
Having a godly voice is the bonus tip, right?
Im having issues with the noise gate. I follow the exact steps but my voice keeps cutting in and out.
I ordered the SM7B. I will use it for live broadcasts. I'm using SSL 2+, do you think I should buy Cloudlifter?
yes!
hi , I wanted to ask you about how to get rid of the background noise while speaking like the keyboard sound or mouse clicking ?? I use the shure sm7b with the go xlr mini
Do these settings apply to having the mic on the left or right side of you instead of infront of your mouth?
Yes they should, you may have to increase the mic gain a bit but otherwise should be all the same
what about the buzzing in the background? i cant figure it out what could be ;(
Question. Can the goxlr mini also give me the same voice effect if I follow your setting step by step
Very nice, iv copied ur settings and its very very good :)
I have a friend that streams, she is really struggling to stop the background noise, also the echo using this setup. Any chance I could link you her stream and get some advice?
hello can i hook my dj controller onto line in and external speaker onto line out of the Goxlr?
Men,do you recomend an preamp for shure and goxlr?for stream games..?
You don't need a preamp with the sm7b & GOXLR
I've noticed on my GO XLR that for Equalizer for example, when you have the menu shortened so you can just see BASS MID TREBLE and set these to say 6, -1, 4, for example then set the curve settings when expanding the menu that this the changes the BASS MID and TREBLE settings when the menu is shortened again and vice versa? its like what ever you set on the curve settings you talk about for EQ then moves the BASS MID TREBLE settings :S

Bro looks like Steve from Minecraft LMAOOO
Ah yes my head is a fucking cube 🤣🤣🤣
Let me ask you something. The word mixer gives via equalire before or from mixer for past Compessor. I thank you.
Is it possible for you to compare this mic to a rode procaster?
Are any of the switches on the back of the microphone moved or is it just on a flat profile?
Just flat
i Hear hissing/wind noise on my goxlr through my headset do you know how to fix
me too

Look up an inline grounding adapter. Cheapcon Amazon. I had I had same issue and that was it.

Did you do post work or just goxlr?
This is just the GOXLR
Do you have a cloudlifter also can I use this incongunction with dbx286s
No I do not use a cloudlifter, you can use a dbx 286s but there isn't any benefit as you can do EQ, compression, gating, etc on the GOXLR.
You are a funny man i like you. You are great ;-)
Thanks! 😃
What about the back setting switch of shure sm7b?
Flat
Bro what camera you use? It’s clear af
Sony a6100
who do you voice act?
Doesnt adding so much make up gain kinda mess up your natural voice?" Idk heard somewhere.
Well it makes it more broadcast sounding, I personally like that sound but it's up to you how you do it.
Also does the go sod have a desser
The full GOXLR has a de-esser however the mini version does not.

I don't think the SM5B is suitable for streaming lol
Now do rodecaster
