My neighbor's teen-aged son and I worked part-time at a big brand store so his parents asked me to bring him home after work. So often on the ride home he often heard carole king's music being played because as a Gen x-er, I grew up on carole king's songs. So during the Christmas season, while playing carole king's Christmas cd, he asked me for some of her cds since he liked her voice becaue it calmed him down So that Christmas and every after , he always gets a different carole king cd for Christmas from me and it's really a joy to have the opportunity to expose a new generation of people to the beauty of carole king's music. Peace.
One of the first times I met Carole at a party, we were sitting around just chatting. I told her I was surprised to be having a conversation with someone who wrote, or co-wrote, some of the songs that kind of helped define our generation. She smiled and said, "I am just a fireman's daughter from Brooklyn".
@user-fk5fs7ff7j As a West Vitginia friend of mine would say, "I'll tell ya what's true". Probably close to twenty years ago, that's what Carole said to me.
Being a fireman's daughter from Brooklyn (her mom was a teacher) helped her write this song. Before air conditioning, people in urban places like Brooklyn would climb on the roof to escape the heat. BTW, she is a genius -- she entered kindergarten at age 4 and skipped first grade.
Just saw this was recorded the month my wife and I married. One of our first purchases was Tapestry. Wore out the album. It was kind of the soundtrack of our early years of marriage. Just celebrated 51.
Happy Anniversary! I bought Tapestry on the spot when I heard "It's Too Late" playing in the record section of a department store back when it was released. Timeless, as is your love.

This song brings back great memories! My dearest friend lived in Philly on 3rd and Bainbridge back in 2017-2020 and we would go up to the roof. We would bring some food, beers or wine, cushions, a blanket, and the Oontz Bluetooth speaker. A great view of the city skyline and sky. Such wonderful memories!!!! I'll cherish them always. ❤
