At $700 those aluminum upgrades should’ve been stock and included. Now would that fix all the rolling and poor handling issues?? Who knows but perhaps you would feel better about your purchase instead of realizing that Traxxas went cheap on some of the parts they put on the truck. Plastic hubs on a $700 truck is ridiculous! That’s so they can make more money on the aluminum upgrades and now it becomes an $800-$900 truck! Like you said it’s a Traxxas so it’s automatically gonna have a higher price tag! That means we the consumers have to deal with their greediness! I will say it seems very durable! It has potential but at what cost?! Great video! Keep up the great work!!
I added the shock extensions to the front, aluminum chassis brace, aluminum shock caps and collars, velocity metal axles and 17mm hubs. New springs. Changed the shock oil out for something better. I made some adjustments in the app to fix some things. Turned the TSM off completely. It really hinders the way it drives. You need a lot of throttle control with this. This thing is now awesome. I have great control in air and on ground now. The metal axles and hubs give you more rotational force helping control. I haven’t broken anything and thing is a tank. The body is the best traxxas makes. Is thicker than the xmaxx shell and takes a beating. I’m running 6s all the time. This thing is my favorite RC now. Even over my Mojave 6s and xmaxx. I wish people could drive mine as it is worlds better than it was out the box. It did cost another 120$ to get it there. So I’m about 770$ into it total with what I paid for everything. Should come this way for the 700$ tag. I highly recommend this thing if you’re ok with tinkering and changing some things. You also have to know that if you’re just a grip it and rip it type, you’ll probably not like it as much. But if you take your time and learn to really use the throttle well, this thing is a beast. I’m having a ton of fun with it and has proved to be more durable than the Mojave 6s or the xmaxx. I’m going to try to get some videos up showing it and how good I got it dialed in next week when the weather is actually decent.
I reframed from buying one. I ended up getting a 30 degree north DDT-7 v2. Hobbywing g2 800kv combo. This should smooth my cravings for short course trucks until my losi 5t arrives in July or Aug 😬
Watching it roll across the ground under the "worth $699?" text gave me a good laugh. Good run down! But I think most people skip the big drawback: it handles like a brick! No question that it's durable as hell, but it has to be because it lives on its back! We have the same issue with 10th scale slash. Something just off with Traxxas geometry or some such.
Love your final thoughts. Very informative and accurate. I feel the same way even though I haven't tried it yet lol. But I value your opinion brotha Jay❤👍🙏💪😎
Several shop owners have told me this is not selling well. I suspect the same thing is true for Traxxas directly. I predict the price will come down and soon. It is after all a reskinned Maxx with belted tires. The Maxx is only $569 so I expect this will come down to $599-649. They will want a little more for the belted tires and the larger body.
I got mine when they were running the free charger and batteries, which I did not have at that point I believe it was worth it. If you already had the batteries and charge I believe the vehicle is about 150 over priced.
Handling and drivability are crucial. Would you purchase a real car if it handled poorly and had an inflated MSRP? I never did, and never will. I drive an Audi S4 LOL. Traxxas is one greedy, arrogant company. I wonder if they checked social media to see that most of the comparisons with the 6S Mojave show how underwhelming the Maxx Slash is in those comparisons.
All due respect but anyone who jumps an r/c truck over a dirt mound aimed directly at another mound consisting of concrete rocks really can't make a realistic durability assessment. There are such things as realistic expectations. This truck survived but I'm not sure what that means. My observations are that this truck belongs on the ground with a mildly loose surface doing the drift thing. It looks completely out of it's element in the air. Kind of like watching Shaq on a trampoline.
Question is have you ever driven short course trucks and taken these vehicles Off-road? I take these vehicles and take them through a DURABILITY test and test them sometimes in elements that may not be the normal driving conditions to see how they hold up. the last thing you want to do is spend $700 on a vehicle and then decide to take it on a jump and it breaks. It held up well and I a NOT the only person to drive this truck like this....many others did worth condition than this!
I’m feel’n pretty certain this truck is a poor jumper. Worse than most trophy truck designs. It’s built tough for sure but it’s still Shaq on a trampoline. ;)
If it came the way they showed it on their video, it would have been an awesome truck. Came with no front shock spacers and white maxx springs. Watch the first 25 seconds of the video. You will see what I mean.

It should have at least come with some of the sway bars and stuff I agree
Wish it had the locking pins from the factory vs screws
truck is like 1000 cnd. 🤦🏻🤦🏻🤦🏻🤦🏻

Widemaxx a arm kit and the top aluminum brace is ALL THIS RIG NEEDS! HOPEFULLY traxxas does it SOON!
I picked one up, lots of fun! It is a great deal right now you get 2 3s batteries and the charger for free. So that about a $250 saving with tax.

Yeah they made it tough no doubt but the handling as we see can be improved maybe they'll do some updates later on I don't know
Hope they make a roller with a clear body cause I honestly like the max platform as a sct

tks man!
I just picked up mine in Rock n Roll color today!!! I can't wait to rip this thing!!!
Lmk ur thoughts
For your insight and thoughts. Another great vid👍🏼
I appreciate that!
8:06 you're giving it a no star rating? man, that's harsh... j/k, good overview, thanks for the video. 👍
😁
I just paint my sledge ignition orange finally I got a new body

Mojave spanks this every day of the week. Describing a car as "fine" definitely doesn't make me want to buy it.
Hey I'm not trying to tell anybody to buy this. I'm only telling you my experience and my thoughts of it.
I'll save my money for a different rc.
I got mine when they were running the free charger and batteries, which I did not have at that point I believe it was worth it. If you already had the batteries and charge I believe the vehicle is about 150 over priced.
Hey Jay Tee... Can you please push Spektrum rc to create a firma 300amp for our limitless and felony?
I wish I could

Thanks, JT!
You bet!
I love mine
Mojave is the best out there, and Traxxas came up with this, not a lot of thought gone into it 😢
Hey all
Not a chance at this price, I am in Canada, where it is 40% more, no way, and I will stick with Arrma
40%😫😓😞😣😖😱
Yes it’s a quick fix for Traxxas being left behind

Hello Jay Tee
hey man
this isnt sold in the uk, i might import one with amain
UPDATE: they won't let me, i have to go to the states to get one :(
dang
$699, no thanks. I’d get a Mojave 6s for less. I’d consider it for $349 and man those graphics are terrible.
$449 Would be today's price. 😂 But yes, the graphics SVCK!
Or they would have had the Bluetooth add metal axles in a fan on the motor❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I would have bought one if they were 599
Everyone knows how i feel about this truck its a fail from Traxxas imo

Traxxas Maxx slash would of been better if they made a xmaxx slash
Funny how traxxas used to have too much pride.? Never giving discounts
Lately they’ve bin bending a little
Cinder block 🧱
Maxx Slash Ultimate coming soon at 1k. 🤦♂️
🤷🏾♂️
Not trying to hate I have both Traxxas and Arrma vehicles but this price is pathetic.
Honestly none of these cars are worth it, they all need upgrades out the box.
$699 👹
The first Apple-1 computers were sold for $666.66 in 1976 🤣😅😂
😲
@@JayTeeRC The devil is in the details.
@@JayTeeRC BBC put up TV licence fee 6.66 %................. mmmmmmmmmmm This was taken from another channel and it had hundreds of likes.
@@shelly6482 Phoned up Traxxas to ask them why it was $699 and they put the phone down on me 😀
1138$ canadian to the door.
🥶
Looks like it jumped like shit
Every body is hateing .. What would a tekno at that size cost ?? 2k ?
