early 60s british music was some of the best of the whole decade. Gotta love Joe Meek.
Yes I agree with you right there, I just learned about Joe Meek not too long ago it’s different but that’s why he’s a genius. Heinz was his prodigy
I'm glad The Beatles popped that bubble.... Joe Meek rejected them 4 times. So much for spotting talent 😂😂
This is the first time I came across a video with Steve Marriott playing the drums. This just goes to prove my opinion that he is one of the greatest if not the greatest frontman in rock and roll with the greatest voice ever! If you like Peter Frampton then you can thank Steve Marriott because he just stood there like a scaredy-cat until he watched what Steve could do and he learned his on stage performance and everything from Steve Marriott😢❤
Well said
Rod Stewart and Robert Plant owe Steve Marriott alot too. They learnt from Steve, but never as great as Steve Marriott.
I do like Peter Frampton, but mainly because he played absolutely brilliant guitar with Humble Pie while Marriott was doing his own inimitable thing. The two of them were a perfect combination.
@@sandypompilii6901 Mere pretenders ! Nothing more ! SM had more talent in the first joint of his small finger then those two put together ! FACT !
Steve Marriott be like, 'Lemme up front, I'll show them how it's done.'
It is really young Steve Marriott...! 🕵🏼♀️👍🏿
Hard to believe how mean people are towards this beautiful production made for young girls. Made for girls but I love it too and I am straight as an arrow I assure you. So, obvious these men were instructed and likely laughed a lot when they saw themselves.
Hahahaha
And he then evaporated into a cloud of pink dust.
It’s like been in a dream! Young Steve Marriot bless him and David Hemmings! Wow
It is good though
Heinz was very underrated ((
Can't get my head around that two years later Steve had a huge hit with all or nothing!
Burt looks like a character out of the Tunderbirds.
great times from heinz63
The clip is terrible but the sound is SUPER and that’s what count !
The "drummer" is Steve Marriott who turned out to be the greatest blue eyed soul singer ever. Such a pity no one involved with the production of this film figured out who they had on the payroll.
Not just Steve Marriott..., but Ritchie Blackmore jammin' with The Outlaws, and even Mitch Mitchell in a non musician roll... It's ironic that arguably the best drummer in the entire film was not shown playing any instruments...
Wow! I love Heinz.
I guess you'll know by now that he was a ravin' iron.....
What does it even mean if I may ask?
I agree great music
Director: "NOW! NOBODY LOOK INTO THE CAMERA OR I'LL TURN YOU TO DUST!"
We used to listen to Heinz in the sixties. Lol.
Beautiful.
The bass player’s facial expressions make him look a future serial killer.
They all have a look of potential offenders.
LOl! ha..ha..you are right!
😂
Everyone has an opinion these days..I just enjoy things as they are and don't compare them. This was the style of British music back then, and to compare it with what came after is limited awareness in my " opinion "
Just a bit of history saved.
it would be amazing if we coulds turn back time to see all these great singers
Every band, in my opinion, always had a that one good looking guy. And Heinz really made the group pop out, I mean look at this kid with the bleached hair and charms!
Meeks lover.
He looks like a star definitely. I think his limited but very happy sounding voice is cute but it’s not for everyone
Loved it. They’re all baby-faced lmao. 😂Btw would anyone be shocked if I told you Ritchie Blackmore from Deep Purple brought me here?
What a find... Thank you, Deano Essex. Wasn't Steve Marriott young, I hardly recognised him. Michael Clark commented that it might be David Hemmings on guitar, yes it is, he is in the cast of "Live it up" but doesn't he look a bit like Billy Fury? Just googled the movie, and the cast and musicians are spectacular.
Definitely comedic, it’s not meant to be a serious pop video, it’s just an excellent parody of a typical ‘group’ of the era. It’s hilarious, great acting.
Try again 😂
Are they all on looney Juice? Haha the late great Steve on drums.
Great video - thanks! Quite heartbreaking to see Steve Marriott so young.
I had first heard about Heinz mentioned by a jerk of a Brit in an audio interview from 1971 of Gene Vincent. The interviewer said that he had seen Heinz play live in a show lineup including Gene. Gene defended Heinz, and said that who is the Brit to say what is good or bad music. Now having checked out Heinz for myself, HE ABSOLUTELY RULES! What a nice song, really dreamlike and fun. Now I'm gonna check out the rest of Heinz's music. Heinz is really an awesome gem from a special time in music history.
Jason Frey Check out this one :-) ruclips.net/video/mImc8cjZW04/видео.html
@Baz Bazdad Blibbity blobbity bloobity.....
A great song 🎼
Great shirt!
Platinum bombshell
Great stuff - thanks for posting!
Brilliant
Great movie.... :)
I saw this film in 1963 at the Crescent cinema, Leatherhead in 1963. Heinz Burt used to play bass in the Tornados. He played on Telstar,Globetrotter and Robot. H then went solo with "Just like Eddie" and "The Beating of my heart" both in 1964.
he didnt play on any of those tracks it was chas hodges of chas and dave
@@firsteerr Although Charles Hodges was one of Joe Meek's stable of performers, he never played on those Tornados tracks. He was part of the Outlaws backing group for other artists such as Mike Berry and John Leyton. Heinz was the bass player for the Tornados both in the studio and on tour until Joe got him to dye his hair blond and record "Just Like Eddie" to launch a solo career. Heinz was also part of the original Tornados when they got back together in 1975 to re-record Telstar in stereo on the SRT record label.
David Hemmings and John Pike were both actors. You can see John Pike in the theme-song of the Ivanhoe series with Roger Moore. He's the kid shouting : IVANHOE
Nice fact about John Pike! I did recognise David Hemmings, he was the photographer in "Blowup" a cult classic from only 3 years after this was shot; 1966!
@@WorldCitizen667 That's right. There a clip on RUclips from this movie with "The Yardbirds" in it
@@jverhulst817 Yes!!!
Excellent English Rock n Roll Pure Proppa😊
It looks like Gerry and Sylvia Anderson left the prop cupboard unlocked and their puppets got out and formed a band.
I love this video I can’t get over high Heinz is he’s tweaking and everyone else in the band there completely off their heads I can’t stop laughing
Great to watch the 1960's style of music film making long before Queen videos claimed they did it first. Catchy song.
I went to live in Morecambe in 1975 where poor old Heinz ended up as a VW salesman. It was sad but in line with the Tin Pan Alley culture of finding pretty boys with no talent and trying to turn them into stars while simultaneously getting them to sign rip-off contracts.
@darvinion I agree. :)"Silvo"
Precious, innocent times.
I.loved him so much xxxxxxx
Remember him well
I really like this guys voice it’s quirky I guess people just want perfect singing.
When pop stars moved by Supermarionation.
🤣
The close ups are creepy as hell.
You can't tell they're playing instruments and it just looks like they're having seizures.
Weird, but a nice song.
Looks like a David Lynch production 😁
The bass player, in particular, looks like a serial killer.
The lead singer is in wonderland on amphetamines probably. Joe Meek was a eccentric guy I’m sure he intended it to be a bit strange
He can sing this song in 57 different languages
Yawn
LOL
ALSO DIED AT 57, THERES VARIETY FOR YOU
The fact that Joe Meek made this thing work and get it on the charts is a testimony to Joe's Genius not Heinz. Where was Joe when I was young? I would have been your boy toy and so much more. Even if you renamed me KETCHUP (my red cheeky behind)
@@TobyRossFun HAVE YOU HEARD THE TORNADOES- DO YOU COME HERE OFTEN?, SOUNDS RIGHT UP YOUR STREET
Why does everyone hate this? It's so campy and psychedelic, what's there to hate? lol
Its a chuckle. 🤣
I've been a fan of joe meek since high-school. I'm 26 right now, idk what it is about joe meek but the way he produced music was ahead of its time you're right it sounds campy yet a psychedelic tone. Which is crazy cause I feel like he wasn't even going for that but that's what came about
Actor David Hemmings on guitar as well.
From The Movie Live It Up.Drums - Steve MarriottBass - John PikeGuitar - David HemmingsBacking Vocals
thunder birds, no strings on them
He was really something, wasn't he!
Steve Marriott on drums, obviously, but is that David Hemmings on guitar? (0:31)
Indeed it is! Also The actor John Pike on Bass
He looked so much better even with the bleached hair as a member of the tornados without opening his mouth, just the Tornado's pretty boy playing bass. it was perfect. This is schmaltz, Joe had fun though, glad there was something
It mite be dreadful but the music was great u can’t deny that
It's surreal, like watching a David Lynch film. Nice though 🙂
Love this
hahahahahahahaahahahahaahhaahahaha
That’s why it’s good.
Hes lipsyncn the words. Drummers make the best guitar players. Amazing. Very cool post
Of course it’s lip synced- have you never seen a film or a music video before?
@@urasam2 lots of them. How much more programmed can it get? When I grow up I wanna sing and play guitar like Heinz.
@@MrMojabo Go for it!
Obviously miming catchy tune but they all look high as kites
Steve Marriott looks about 12 !
movie was on tv other day...talking pictures channel
they gave these blokes mescaline before filming.
holy shit,thats david hemmings?
Ja, er ist es!
kinda creepy....
Drogen? Es ist alles so wunderschön ! Der kleine Steve :)
Surreal both Heinz Burt's looks , his voice and the backing vocals . The Gene Vincent dramatics which are kind of hammy and the occasional dubbing miscue also contribute. The whole clip is almost David Lynchlike even though it has no grotesqueness and it would be awhile before we saw Lynch.
It’s weird but in a genuine way. It’s more authentic weirdness than David lynch
Looks like they're on some other planet catchy tune though
Lol... such a strange video, all that close up mugging for the camera...and the boy wonder that was Stevie Marriott on drums??!
a male Jean Harlow FUN
DON'T LOOK AT THE CAMERA !
Easier to say than to do when the camera is inches away from your face :D
The looking up is from Gene Vincent.
Its Steve Marriott on drums not on bass
Referring to Old McMetal, I just think you read it wrong, but i can understand how 🙂 Drums - Steve MarriottBass - John PikeGuitar - David Hemmings - Thanks for your comment though 🙂
When do you Improve Runcorn Cheshire
Love this track but the album version is different
Was that Lissa Gray singing in the lavatory again?
Indeed :-)
Probably Billy Dean on vocals.
🤔🙄🥺😯😳💜
Is it David Hemmings on bass? Looks like him
Indeed it is. 🙂
looks like german bubblegum
I really like this song but I will admit it’s very strange to see people in a band that young. Apart from Heinz these other kids looks about 13
What movie???😮
Live It Up. 1963
Is that the late Dave Clarke five lead singer too?
James, that's what I thought.
No... Heinz Burt, David Hemmings, John Pike and Steve Marriott
Mike Smith wouldn't stoop down this low
It's like a horror movie.
Why does he keep looking up?
To be honest i really couldn't tell you exactly, but maybe the mic was hanging from a boom. It's something they did and maybe still do in studios. :-) Thanks for your comment
It could be but likely that he keeps looking up becuse they were told that the girls liked that look. If you watch very early Cliff Richard videos he is looking up almost all of the time. In those days girls bought most of the records.
.... weiter oben sitzt AUCH NOCH PUblikum
SLIM WITHMAN machte es auch oft so.
Sie's Dir an: Ghostriders in the sky
Gene Vincent pioneered that style.
The kindest thing I can say is nice shoes Heinz!
reichlich wenig Info, Fräulein Deano .....
(Däumchen "runter")
wegen info daumen runter?
Heinz’ looks mashed.
Unfortunate edits - I hope they're not Joe's?!
lol do say.. what ,, he thinks some kind of hot teen idol
Are they robots?
Nee, Roboter stehen (wenn überhaupt) heutzutage auf der Bühne. Und machen Musik mit dem Klingelknopf.
I like Techno-unplugged!
Well spotted.
Satanic !
They look like they are all on something and it's not Lechlade! Terrible double tracking on the Vocals.
Heinz's voice was so weak that Meek used double tracking. On his first single Heinz's voice is hidden beneath another singer's, who was brought in to sing the main vocal. The two were mixed together to cover Heinz's awful singing.
I honestly think it sounds good. It’s kinda eerie but in interesting way.
thinking of Meek and Heinz going at it....Nope
That’s the slant they put on it now. Heinz’ family denied it
@@ARyan-nf5my Of course they would Helllllo!
DIRE
Very campy
I wouldn’t call this camp it’s surreal
creepy video.
To creeps yea I suppose it would be wouldn’t it!..
its a gay day heinz
Ay,??
Heinz was Joe Meeks boyfriend.
@@danielsalinas6683 platonic
yes,Heinz was straight but Joe Meek lusted after him
@@danielsalinas6683 only for the pay
They all look as creepy as hell.
Jesus Christ, pass the Seconal, Granny! Thunderbirds aren’t go…
Gosh. I really wanted to like this. But it's bad. Very.
Freakish.
Burt Heinz went solo after the death of his band mate Joe Meek?
He went solo well before then
Joe Meek was never a band mate.
Joe wasn't his 'band mate', he was an independant producer, who produced the song.
