Donna, the micas react differently to the skin than to the pads you used at first. Also, each powder has a maximum limit of particles it lays down before the excess stops adhering to the surface you apply it to. You may have reached the saturation point with the Chameleon and Lucy powders sooner than the other two, which is good. It means you need less to get full coverage.
Except Lucy's didn't have full coverage- it rubbed off enough for the black to show through. That's disappointing, especially considering the price point. I love all things Lucy, but.. I don't want to have to seal the powders.
A smaller version would be cute earrings as well. I love the Idea of using up clay reserves with black and coloring them rather than using your colored clay. Beautiful. ✌🏻🤍
hi! i love temu! okay, i've made mistakes, mostly with size and scale but not many. may i ask a favor of a fellow temu shopper? would you subscribe to my channel? it helps the channel and it helps me (somehow, i dont' really know how) so i am asking today. anywho, thanks in advance! hugs, d
At first i was concerned that the drill hole on curvy piece was too high & it would flip over from being top heavy, but instead it changed the angle of how it hangs (as shown on the bust) as looks super cool! Love it!
What a statement piece. I want to make it to wear on my milestone birthday coming up.Thinking about what to do with earrings to go with it. But since I am not a matchy matchy person, I could wear a pair that I already have.
A dear friend of mine Teru Simon who was my pottery teacher taught us that clay has a memory and its true. It will always remember the shape it held so i understand letting it set for a while before you commit it to its final resting state.
A few months ago I kept making spirals with my clay. I was thinking of pendants. I wasn't sure what in heck I was doing. But I love curling them at both ends like an "S". The end curls were going in the opposite directions. So I made one but didn't know what to do with it so I tossed it in my "orphan" box. I was so happy to run across this tutorial! Now I know what I'm doing. Thanks for the great tutorial!
Your favorite chameleon powder also appeared to get shinier each time you rubbed it. The others I can’t tell a difference but that one seems much shinier to my eyes. That’s interesting and also quite beautiful. ✌🏻🤍
You might try the eyeshadow sponge applicators for the powders rather than a brush to get them out of the pots and start the burnish. That’s how we do it on nails and cured resin. I then use my finger to burnish to a high glow.
Im new to mica and beginer sculpy clay user. Love that Video. I do i really do! ❤ i got 32 colors set of mica powder but im gona look for that chameleon color. Looks great. Thanks for that video. Subing.
@@DonnaKatoArt for 2 years i 3dprint figures and air dry clay simple things. Begginer painter. Now im watching Your videos and definetly going for polymer clay. Thanks for all trutorials. Hi Donna, how are you? I am new to your channel and I am enjoying and mesmerized by your creativity. Thank you for sharing! Where can i buy the material you used for the rubber necklace please? Thank you so much 😊❤
Lol, Donna, you hit all of my passions with this tutorial, jewelry, polymer clay, nails and resin. I have a great time trying supplies from one pursuit in another. I found out my Pearlex works well to chrome nails and my multichrome flakes and powders for nails look awesome on clay and, of course they all work in my resin! This was a fun class. I’ll have to pull out my Perfect pearls and see what they will work with other than clay! Thanks for reminding me about them!❤. Love this pendant.
I think you have a lot of fun stuff in your studio! Polymer clay is the great crossover material, so many things you can use with it. Have fun! Hugs, D
Well, I just bought a whole BIG set of Chameleon powders on Amazon after watching your tutorial! lol!!! THEN, I went and bought MORE stuff from your site to replenish tools and supplies! Christmas and New Year holidays are over and it is time to get back to my fun! Can't wait to make the necklace, plus a few variations on the one you did. I just love your stuff! 😃
D this is such a simple but beautiful design, thank you again for a fantastic tutorial 💜 I'll go and nip over to the classroom to check if this is there too 😊 hugs 💜
I know, Clare. This one is simple! I do like it so much. It's been bouncing about my studio for sooo long, I just knew it'd be a tute someday! Today! Hugs, D
The universe 🌌 aligned 😂 I just received 4 different colors of chameleon powders from Temu this week. I love the design. The gorgeous powders put it over the top!!
Thank you Donna! This was a much needed and appreciated tutorial. You helped me relax and realise you don't have to do something complex to make something beautiful. I'm relatively new in the PC community and under duress I started doing tutorials. I'm always stressing out about what to do for the next collection to impress everyone. My first (and controversial tutorial) was inspired from your tutorial on mica shift snails (of course I linked your tutorial in the description box). I watch all your tutorials and you're a breath of fresh air. Thank you!
Hi Donna, one of my favorite tutorials, thank you. I will make one. May I ask where you purchased the 4mm bead stoppers? I have searched Amazon like crazy and find many rubber or silicone O rings of varying sizes. They are listed as plumbing repairs etc. I absolutely adore you and your tutorials, look forward to them. You are so kind to share your skills. Looking into membership!
Reply to my own comment LOL I just read the entire thread and see someone else had asked about the O rings. I just found them in Pandahall per your answer. THANK YOU!
This is such a great and not too difficult idea, i love it ❤. On what did you bake it so it does not get flattened on the back? Backing soda? Foam? Or just regular paper ?
So pretty love this design! I use Minwax sealer and floor wax lol it's more affordable and long-lasting. There is no yellowing so far after 4 years. Resin too, but sometimes I don't want to fuss with resin. I also add the powders to raw clay then cure...but im learning and don't know a lot yet haha Thanks again, Donna, for another awesome tutorial. 💜
A tip about using floor wax ( I used to use Future years and years ago) while it never yellowed it does react to water turning white and cloudy so you may want to test it on a sample then let it get wet to see if it reacts. A couple of really beautiful projects of mine got ruined that way
Hi Donna. Thank you for this great tutorial. I was just looking to do a statement piece in polymer clay. Would you mind sharing the link for the temu Chameleon powder as I have looked for it and they seem to have hundreds of them.... thank you❤
Nothing like starting Monday with a new obsession 🤣. Stunning work❣️ I have the same from Temu, so my studio will now be covered in color shifting mica because I *always* make a pigs breakfast when working with powders 😜
Hi Donna. Need some help please. I joined your members class awhile ago. Recently I tried to access it with no luck. My old brain can’t remember how I joined or where I joined. Would appreciate if you can me send me instructions? I’m also in Florida on vaca so maybe I will get access when I get back to Canada. Going through withdrawal 🥰
Hi Lynne! Okay, you should check whether you're still a member of the classroom. You might not have renewed. I get notifications when some renew but not others. Strange. Anyway, this info can be found in your account under purchases or manage subscriptions. I have a hard time finding it myself! If you are still a member, then we have to contact RUclips and find out why you're not getting in. Enjoy the warm! Hugs, D
Hi Nancy, I don't know whether that's possible, I suspect you could but it'd be pretty messy and take a lot of pastels to achieve a depth of color. I'm just speculating, though. Hugs, D
It’s so strange! I’m using regular mica powder and I chose a color called peach pink and while I’m waiting for the clay to set I noticed that the color looks purple now. Weird!🤷♀️
Simple and beautiful…what more can one ask for?! Also, am I the only one who enjoy’s Donna’s humming and singing during the process? 😃
