I always have a smile on my face when you refer to your Schmutz on the clay. I am a Swiss German speaking person, but living in an English speaking country (Australia). Since listening to your Schmutz I have started to talk to myself when I see Schmutz on my clay...lol
Such a perfect word for it! Hugs, D🤪
I’m watching right now. And I want to give you a HUGE bear hug. I love this!!!!
👏👏👏👏❤️🎉😊
TOTALLY TUBULAR DONNA! ❤
I feel a name change coming on!
@DonnaKatoArt LOL
@@DonnaKatoArt cylindrical? LOL
You’ll be glad to know Donna that my Marxit tool is a genuine original Kato, bought sometime in the ‘90’s, and still one of the most useful tools I have in my studio… ❤
Thank you! So glad to know! Cheers, D
Me too.
And if I didn’t write you my care package with the ring I bought was WONDERFUL!!!❤❤❤
I am so glad you liked it!!! Hugs, D❤️
Thank you for explaining the gearing. My son gave me a similar explanation years ago, which changed how I used my machine on the daily, snd now my machines LAST much longer!
Yup! It makes sense, right? Cheers! D
I've been watching you for decades! I had a measuring tool I purchased from YOU~! but lost in in the Lahaina wildfires in 2023. ;( so much clay and tools lost. I started my clay journey with the gold double-oval bracelet. Remember that one?
Oh, no, you were in the fire? So horrific - unbelievable the tragic loss of life and homes. So sad. Thank heaven you’re alright. I don’t remember the bracelet ( which is kind of scary…). Big hugs, D❤️
I'm pretty sure I know where every one of those green scraps and plugs came from (lol!!!) in this episode. In fact, I was looking through your leaf canes last night for a project I am working on! This class is PERFECT for my last night's scraps!!! Thanks, Donna! You must have read my mind!
I love that!! Hugs, D
@@DonnaKatoArt 😄
Love these beads! I think I have enough Skinner plugs to make some beads from what I have. Also, I have a Kato bead measurer. Yay!
I have the Kato measuring tool too! We're so lucky we have it!
Yay, girls! Tubes!! I love them! Hugs, D
The toy is called a Chinese bamboo finger trap. Haven’t thought about those in forever. Thanks for the tutorial! Beautiful colors!
That is it! You’re so welcome! Cheers!
Thank you Donna, I love these beads and you explain the process so clearly.
You are so welcome. I hope you make many of them! Cheers, D
I'm so excited to try this. I just need to finish organising my clay corner in our cottage. Only been in 4 months and been busy with setting up our business and my dog sitting business has got busier which is lovely as I'm dog obsessed . I live in the beautiful village of Tighnabruaich, Argyll Scotland and we've been here altogether for about 16 months. Best thing we ever did was leave England and move here. I'm hoping at some point to offer polymer clay classes as we've so many creative people living here and I'm hoping to be one of the artists displaying at the open cowel studio tour in September so must get working on some items for that xxx
Hi Hazel! You’re busy! Sounds like a wonderful life there and beautiful. Big hugs, D
Donna, you have inspired me to dig out my box of polymer clay in my craft room and give these a go! Thanks for your huge volume of work and your continued designs and inspiration!
Cheers from Kat in Canada!
Oh, boy, Kat! Hugs, D❤️
Great project! Thank you for sharing!
❤️
Gorgeous tube bead necklace!, love these beads
Thank you!😁
These are so pretty!! Thank you so much for sharing. 😊❤
So glad you like them! ❤️
These are FABULOUS!! I definitely hope to try these this year. Thanks for your incredible inspiration & insight!
Thank you! I hope you make lots! Cheers, D
Love these!!!
Yay!
I love this tutorial! Thanks so much!
❤️🎉
Just beautiful x
Thank you, Cindy!🎉😁
Gorgeous!
Thank you, Pamela! ❤️
I wondered how you got those beads so even. I've tried doing tube beads before but the hole was always too big. Thanks for showing us how to do this.
You’ve got it, Deb. Just don’t apply too much pressure. If it feels like the hole is enlarging, gently pull the ends out! Hugs, D
great. thank you for sharing the details
My pleasure! 😊
And that’s why you’re the teacher and I’m the student. Lol I have so many bits of clay that need to be used up. My tube beads never came out that even or beautiful
I know you can do it, Denise! Hugs, D
These are awesome!
Hi Robbie! Big hugs, D❤️
I do remember that finger trap!
Lol! We always got them! Hugs, D
Hey Donna! Thanks for this beautiful tubular bead tutorial! I’ve been making some from scraps. Of course I did them totally wrong! So thank you very much; maybe now they won’t look too horrible anymore. My questions are: do you finish off the ends in any way? Next question: do you sand, polish and/or resin your beads? Thank you!
My pleasure. I don’t do anything to the ends and no coating or sanding, either! Cheers, D
I’m terribly sorry your Mark It ruler was unethically stolen by another clay artist. We’ve had the displeasure of a “friend” take our work from us. It takes immense effort to overcome the betrayal. I’ll be sure to steer clear of that other artist. Meanwhile, your talent has inspired me and I’m thankful for your generosity in freely sharing your knowledge.
It is disappointing when it happens, isn’t it? I expect it from China but not from another clay person…hugs, D
Love these, thank you so much for sharing this tutorial Donna! Green is my favorite color, so these are even extra nice hahaha. Reminds me a lot of Christensen glass tube beads, and I have a ton of mandrels (I used to do lampworking, my studio is all packed up until I can have a proper space again). Gorgeous gorgeous outcome! Do you take the mandrel out because they might adhere to the metal during baking? Does the hole ever close up at all when you take it out, if carefully handled and not squeezed of course. 💚💚💚
So glad you liked the tute! I take it out because I only have one mandrel! The hole doesn’t close up- don’t worry. Cheers, D😁
@@DonnaKatoArt Thank you, I had to join too - I don't join a lot (budget) but your info is just too amazing not to support when I can, thank you for sharing so much freely as well!
Thanks for this video :)
❤️
Súper video!!! Loooove it. Thanks for the share.🙏🏼💖I’m new with this art. It is my retired hobby now. One question, for how long you bake or cure this ? Thanks 💖
Hi Sonia! Welcome! Now, curing temp and time depends on what clay you use. Just follow instructions on the package! Cheers, D
@@DonnaKatoArt 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼💖
Which pasta machine do you use? I love your videos as they make the process so clear.
Hi Pam! Thank you very much. I use an Atlas machine, the short one, I think it’s the 150 model. Good, sturdy machine! Cheers, D
@@DonnaKatoArt Thank you.
I have never made tube beads. What size approximately should the bead be? Width and length will be very helpful. They are beautiful 😍
The length is 20mm. The width is really up to you. Mine are about 4-5 mm wide. These are a bit thicker than others I’ve made. For the necklace, I think uniformity is more important. Hugs, D!
My tool is a Kato tool. I have had it for years and bought it as soon as I saw it. China steels big designer's stuff and tries to claim it. Most Americans know where the goods they buy are made. Especially these days. I for one will pay more for something made in this country and I research before the buy. Thank you for this video. So cool.
Thank you, Kathy! Hugs, D
@@DonnaKatoArt I am always busy doing this or that. I do so many different arts and have since I was a kid. My mom and dad always taught me to not be afraid of anything. Just try it and be happy with what you can accomplish. I even hang dry wall because of him and do the mudding. I am old now so not so much anymore. Now when it comes to polymer clays and I get the time, you are my go-to instructor. You keep it simple and not crazy complicated. If I want complicated, I can do that myself after I learn the basics. You have a beautiful gift, and I for one am grateful that you choose to share it with all of us. Again, thank you and peace.
You know, my parents were the same. We’re lucky, Kathy. Very! Thank you so much. Big hugs, D
@ Our parents were Depression children and they taught us to do a lot with very little. Have a great day Donna and a big hug back at you.
Fantastično
