CAR OF THE YEAR?! - 2024 Buick Envista - Review

- The all-new Buick Envista is Buick's new entry-level model! This subcompact SUV is based on our 2023 GCCars Car of the Year Awards winner: the Chevy Trax. Powered by the same 1.2L 3-cylinder but restyled into a sleek sportback SUV, the Buick Envista is set up for greatness. But can Buick follow in the footsteps of the Chevy Trax and produce another homerun, or will Buick's changes cause the Envista to fail?
Here as the mid-trim Buick Envista Sport Touring (ST) with a few options, this entry-level SUV clocks in at only $32,784.00 CAD here in Canada - roughly $24,250.00 USD - and slots in-below the Buick Envista Avenir. With this pricing, the Envista undercuts the Hyundai Kona, Kia Seltos, and Mazda CX-30 by a wide-margin with only minor drawbacks except for one: no all-wheel drive option. But is AWD really necessary? And would you really pay $8,000 more for a different subcompact SUV only to get AWD? Find out in today's review!

I love it . A completely honest and enthusiastic real-world review. I'm a truly old guy, 72, who's looking to stay with GM but can't find anything that I like to replace my 2016 Impala LTZ. This little Buick seems to fit the bill. I live in a semi-rural area so we will be doing a fair amount of highway driving so I love the fact that the cabin is quiet. Thanks for telling us what what this model is really all about.
Thank you for the kind words!
I love my Envista. Maybe im old. Im only 32 and a stay at home mom. This car is marketed as a city car and to average 30 or 32 mpg. My average is 39.4 mpg. Its a great car. Comfortable and a pleasure to drive my kiddos around. When these kids are older and out, i plan on getting something more sexier...the wildcat look like what i would want but i dont want it to be electric.
What car did you have in mind?!?
I agree, the Envista is great, especially considering the roominess and fuel efficiency. Here's hoping that Buick will offer something fun once the kids have moved out :)
Have an Envista. I get 5.4 l/100 km on hwy. Best hwy 4.6. Comfortable and efficient. Cannot beat the value. Love mine!
I've been a Buick lady, since 2013, when I purchased my Buick Verano new. I'm now age 69. I'm planning to soon test drive the Envista Avenir and perhaps put an order in for a 2025 model in Ocean Blue. I'm in Los Angeles, California and only recently have the dealers had Avenirs in inventory to view and test drive. I'll likely have to order my Envista to get the interior and exterior colors that I want. Also I'm a little leery about ordering the first model year of the first generation, so I'm fine with waiting to get a 2025. I really love the look of this CUV but wish it had a little more power for freeway driving.
Definitely a good idea to skip the first model year! I think the Envista Avenir will be great for LA - the blue will look great!
I think it's hot. It looks expensive even though it's not. I'd probably consider this over any other vehicle if I were to buy new right now. I'm 46, but I've thought the Buicks have looked nice for a while now. The last Regal was pretty nice! I think this SUV will start bringing some younger people into the showroom.
Here's hoping that this is the start of a new chapter for Buick that revitalizes their brand image. I've gotten multiple compliments about the Envista during my week with it. Not something that usually happens with a Buick.
@@GCCarsCA I love mine. Got it about a month ago. Have the Avenir.
First word(s) that came to mind were Old People....and I am 66. It is likely not possible for Buick to change that perception in my life time.
It definitely won't be easy... if possible at all. I think Buick has a worse brand perception issue than Hyundai did 10 years ago.
When I hear "old people + cars" the first thing that comes to my mind is "powder blue"... if they can offer the Envista in a powder blue color, they will forever keep the old-people buying their cars!
Ocean Blue is close enough. I'm a senior and a female. I love his color.
I like positive packages ;), but if you want some of the missing things get the Avenir.
😂
Yo jesse, this is where you go after getting that Medium Double Double🧨
Amazing channel bud
Lmao thanks bud 😂😂😂
Looks surprisingly good for the price point its at. They will have to do some advertising to change the brand perception though.
Agreed, the Envista can only succeed if it's the start of a brand turnaround in terms of public perception.
Looking to purchase this vehicle just worries about its winter peroformance since it’s awd. Don’t want the boys laughing at me at work 😂
That's understandable! 😅 Are you located in an urban area, or somewhere more rural that sees a lot of snow? If the latter, you might want to go for something with AWD, but in 90% of the cases an Envista on winter tires will outperform an AWD vehicle on all-seasons. 👍
Thought this looked sharp enough to go to the Buick website and check it out. No AWD option in the states... ffs man 🤦♂
Get the Encore GX then.
Just get a good set of winter tires 😝
That's the one drawback. But it's also around $8,000 (CAD) less than any competitors with AWD, so you can get great winter tires which will be better in the snow than AWD with all seasons.
@@Paul-cx4gm But the Encore does not have the sleek look
@@karenkirby6044 Yeah I know :(
