    Really nice vehicle at that price point. Smaller turbo engines seem to perform a little better than the horsepower would indicate. It appears to be a good daily driver at a fair price. Which is something that is getting rare in today’s market.

      But those smaller engines work harder, wonder how far over 100k miles will it get before it runs it's guts out. I mean we were told by GM to make sure customers know that the noise the 1.2L makes is a "normal noise"???? An it makes a noise.

    • @christopherdouglas8471
      @christopherdouglas8471 10 месяцев назад +4

      @@BrianWood74The question is, does it make excessive noise? Or is it just a different timbre of noise because it’s a 3 cylinder. Raiti made 2 points - 1 the cabin is very quiet. Period. And 2 - the transmission is well calibrated to keep the power coming on within the low RPM power band in the heart of the respectable torque curve. Unless you are coming from a 72 Buick Electra, I doubt many people will have any problem with the engine sound, or noise.

    No matter what you get under $35k, you've got to give up something. The way they allocated the $ that they spent building this car is really wonderful. We're getting the Envista Avenir for sure. Got to consider that ANY car you buy new will in 6 or 7 years will be under pressure with high gas prices as the government pushes people into electric cars (raising gas prices). For us, this is the last gas engine car we'll buy. It checks all the boxes for a mom driving kids around town. My wife is short and can't see over the hood of the CX-30 with the way they made the dash. This is an extraordinarily practical car. People complaining about lack of power need to buy another car.

However what was Buick thinking when whoever decided on 136 horsepower to be a selling point rather it be the reason it may not even sell. They should've put a hybrid engine in this beauty, I think it would sell soooo much better if it had a 4cyl hybrid

    • @martinmcintyre7623
      @martinmcintyre7623 6 месяцев назад

      I think you are partly right on this. Once vehicles of this type reach their second owners, the likelihood of regular maintenance goes way down. And with turbo/direct injection engines, it is crucial that you change the oil often and regularly. And do regular two-stage fuel system cleanings. Buick actually was rated #1 in J.D Power sales satisfaction last year. And with this vehicle being a FWD (four good winter tires on a FWD is safer than all-season tires on an AWD), you eliminate the complexity of an AWD system which can also fail. It might not be the fastest car out there but fuel efficient. And a great value for the money. So if you do have to fix that out-of-warranty turbo engine, at least you will have a little money in the bank to do it.

    As much as you hate rear wipers, they are still a necessity. The rain will not just fly right off, and in wintry states, even as you're driving, snow can and will still stick to the window. Plus, the vast majority of people don't clean the snow off their windows before getting in, but they would put the wiper on to clean that portion.
    Now, rain and possibly some snow can fly right off if you put RainX on all the windows. I do every 4 months or so and love it.
    Also, with the sloped roof, im surprised GM didn't give this the rear view camera mirror. At this point, GM should have that in every model they make.

      Notable that Joe found the Evista quicker than advertised, and praised the transmission, ride comfort, handling and subdued noise levels. Give Buick credit for at least keeping ICE alive. I would not even consider this as a PHEV..

    Nice looking car. I like the idea of Buick providing comfort, value and a little bit of class. It is probably the only GM brand I would consider. Cadillac just seems gaudy and Chevrolet just seems boring. I hope Buick can make a comeback in America I would like to see them build a stylish, high value 2 door coupe/ convertible as a halo car. They have to develop a corporate image that is not just a fancier, better appointed Chevy. Of course in the era of electric vehicles, almost everybody is losing individuality and charisma.

      love the shape,great starter car for a young person,i agree it shoud have at least 160 hp and softer materials inside.they should look at the class leader and try to match it or surpass it. i have a 23 enclave and its a great ride. alot of people compare cars to cars that cost much more. a 50000 dollar car cannot ride like a 150000 dollar car or match the inside.

    The Buick is impressive and attractive, and the top trim price point is pretty darn competitive. As a current GM owner, I wander which vehicle, a GM produce or a Mazda product, will nickle and dime me to an abilivian after 14 years and 250k miles? Maybe GM trucks are built to last, if that's your opinion, but their cars, well, let's say, are not as consistent. Just a thought. My current GM vehicle I purchased brand new, and I've taken care of this car like it's the last car I'll ever own, and I've had to replace nearly "every" movable component excluding the engine and transmission, thanks to my own diligence. My friends who own Camerys, Accords, and Mazdas haven't replaced a 1/3 of what I've replaced in 14 years and 250k miles. It's the price point that always suckers me, sneaky GM. 😊

      Who in the hell wants to drive the same car for 250,000 miles for 10-15 years. I can’t think of anything worse then staying with an old styled vehicle with old amenities. I take pride in my vehicles, it’s like wearing a new suit and looking good a new vehicle makes you feel the same. Can’t imagine driving a high mileage rusted out piece of shit. What a terrible life that would be.
