Consumer interest in small cars for people who “like to sit up high” has been so strong that it appears makers have actually tried to properly engineer these vehicles for the crop of offerings. And no glow-up has been stronger than the Chevy Trax, a former punch-line of a car that lined the back of the Hertz lot like lint in your pocket, which is now the runaway leader in the segment. Careful who you make fun of in grade school!
The 2024 Chevrolet Trax starts at a Millennial-friendly $23,699 (including the whopping $2,000 destination fee) and for that money you get a lot of car. Well not in terms of size, but I digress. The Trax would be the runaway winner in its segment if it wasn’t for its strongest rival: the Buick Envista.

I’ve seen both on the street and the trax looks better to me.
love the look of the Envista, we love ours! what a deal for under $30000
I bought an Envista Preferred two months ago and love it.
i got mine last week
Does not having a back wiper bother either of you?
No.
I’m semi retired and have worked part time at a jeep dealer for 7 years.A compass with the same equipment as my envista is 34k.My envista was under 26k. I know the Jeep has awd but For 8000 more I don’t need it.
Does it have cup holder in the back seat?
Just looked at both of these cars this past weekend. Loved the Envista!
Oh yeah, I love the yellow Trax and the yellow trim inside. I might have to find me one of those. I have a 2017 Chevy Cruz and I have loved it.
None of the other reviews mentioned rear visibility out of the back of either of these choices. This feature is very important to me and I thank you for mentioning it before I have to run to the dealerships to find out for myself. That approach just isn't convenient for me. Again, thanks!
Wife has had her new envista for four months now and already problems with the radio and all readings on dash going black which is a known problem by Buick now.
Don't worry I have a 2rs Trax and my android auto always disconnect by itself. On my next service I'll have them check it out. Only had mine for 5 months.
Good comparison but what about powertrain longevity? 1.2 turbo with a timing belt concerns me & only 5 year 100000 kilometer powertrain warranty.
And it's a WET timing belt! Yikes !
Glad to find this channel. Just subscribed.
Was needing this comparison and liked how you both explained it.
how much quieter is the envista than the trax? is it night and day difference?
Hello, Thank you for the review. Does the Trax have AwD? I am trying to decide between the two.
Neither the Trax or Envista have AWD. You’d have to step up to the Trail Blazer or the Encore GX if you want AWD.
Like you guys but do you suggest to buy an Envista for the sole purpose of having the Watts suspension. You spent 1/4 of the review on the subject. So what to do?
I looking to downsize to a crossover subcompact for ease of city parking to replace a 9yr old Camry LE. Comparing these to Honda HRV, Mazda CX-30, Toyota CorollaCross. Agree with post that the Encore GX FWD 1.2L CVT should have been included in comparo. Going to wait to see what Buick & Chevy changes for 2025 models. Hoping they add rear wiper and offer 1.3L 3cy turbo with same 6sp-Auto on Envista. Looks like from online articles on GM/Chev/Buick-Korea 1.3L available inTrailblazer, EncoreGX have a timing-chain vs 1.2L's timing-belt. Sharp vehicles all three.
Would not the encore gx be a better comparison?
No, because the Encore is AWD
Yeah ok, that’s fair. I just remember when the trax and the encore shared a platform.
Notice that all the positive comments for Envista and Trax end with..."for the price"
The DRL’s for all Buicks just seem so high and disjointed. Would like to see it integrated with the grill more for a more sophisticated face.
Normal transmission are quite nice compared to a belt driven CVT.
1.2 turbo charged engines are not very nice regardless of what they hooked up to.
there is no vehicle on the road at the price point and superiority to the Trax 6 17 2024
At the 16:26 mark you comment about the d-shaped steering wheel of the Buick, but the video shows the d-shaped steering wheel of the Chevy. Personally I am not a fan of the d-shaped steering wheel at all.
Great review. Hate lousy audio
Good review!
Not sure why there’s a need to compare. The Envista beats the Trax on everything except on pricing (Trax is cheaper) and cargo space (Trax has more).
I r been debating between the 2.. trading in a cx5… these worry he with the 3 cylinder engine.., but the Toyota cross I like has a cvt so either way none are perfect
If you can removed the trax roof racks and spoiler it would look better.
Okee dokee. Just catching up on the headlines.
if they are the same price, no question just the Buick
But they re not...buick more
It’s called acoustics.
Buick vs Mazda
are these both made in china? i hate what theyve done with the buick logo.
They are made in South Korea
No they're made in North Korea @@kevinjoseph2906
