There is actually a book series that this movie is inspire by. Santa was born a Russian Cossack, the Easter bunny is an Alien Bunny Warrior/Time Lord, Tooth Fairy is a magical hybrid, while Sandman piloted shooting stars to grant wishes. And Pitch did have a family, his daughter is MOTHER-FREAKING-NATURE!
I love this movie so dearly, specially Jack Frost. In the books, he is said to be the guardian of the lost as well, specially since he was inspired by Peter Pan. The author once said “Unlike Pan, Jack Frost knows there is an end to childhood, he knows that heartbreak and hurt are coming. But he will use memory as a weapon to keep the darkness at bay”. It so powerful ♥️ Ps: Jack Frost - Fun Easter Bunny - Hope Santa Claus - Wonder Sandy - Dreams Tooth Fairy - Memory
I think one of the reasons it failed was because it was released around the same time as two giant movies. Like the James bond movie and another one I forgot. It just got completely buried.
I always wished that this movie got a sequel. I was hoping for the return of Pitch and a redemption arc which ends with him taking on the mantle of Jack O' Lantern and becoming the Guardian of Halloween :D
I kinda have this cross over parallel thing were Jack skeleton would be that role, though I think he would go by his title the pumpkin king but that's just me
I had a crossover idea for this one and HTTYD. Toothless had become the moon when he passed, and Jack's family was descended from Hiccup's. That's why Jack was chosen. Toothless/The Moon was waiting for someone with a similar spark of fun as his rider to guard the children. Forgot to add, Jamie is part of the same family line. Jack's sister grew up and had a family, and Jamie is descended from her.
I've always seen him more as 'fear'- he protects people with a healthy amount of fear, but somewhere along the way he got it twisted and started to give and take more and more fear, becoming the boogeyman; not as a guardian of Halloween, but as a guardian of (a healthy amount of) fear ^~^

I adore this movie. Sandman was also my favorite but it makes sense he would be target number one. If all the kids only got nightmares, the amount of stress that puts on our minds is massive. Then the things they look forward to not happening (easter eggs, tooth fairy not coming) hit them harder.

I think Rise of the Guardians is criminally underrated. When the trailer first dropped. I was so hyped to see it. I kept missing the opportunity to watch it. Mainly because it basically disappeared; I finally got to watch it back in 2017
There are theories that the little boy Jamie is actually a descandent of Jack's sister. You can see Jamie and his little sister has some similar features of Jack's little sister's face, but then again it could just be the creators reusing the design for budget purposes. But this theory has added so much more heartwarming depth of Jack and Jamie's friendship. Jamie is basically a clone of Jack's sister and still looked after his family even after life :)
ROTG is literally my CHILDHOOD. I loved it, Sandman's death always made me cry, Jack's "death" scene made tears fall, and EB turning into a mini rabbit was always hilarious.
I love when the villain is someone that the hero could have been if they took different choices aha ALSO SOMETHING I LOVED that I hadn’t seen before!! Was the fact that SANDMAN was the- like the powerful one that pitch got scared of, an important key in the defeat, the job that’s usually given to the main character. I just think that’s neat.
I always loved this movie it was such an amazing storyline to include all the fictional characters, truly an underrated masterpiece Also I took the meaning of 'boogie' as dance, which lead to very funny thoughts
It didn't fail because it was bad it failed because not a lot of people really know about it, like shit I randomly came across this movie. No trailers, no ads or anything just was randomly searching "Christmas movies"
I love this movie. It is so whimsical and tightly written, and the characters are so heartbreakingly relatable. I love the theory that Jamie is Jack's sister's descendant. They look similar, and live near the same pond, and I think it adds an extra special touch that the legacy of Jack's sacrifice lives on, and even helped save the world.
I watched this movie as a child and it is now forever etched into my soul. It sucks that this film is as underrated and forgotten as it is. I love all the characters so much, the story is relatable and compelling, the music is enrapturing, I could go on and on about how much I love this movie. Also, I hope you get better soon, Welchy, take it easy and take care fo yourself!
When you take a break from studying , you're having your afternoon snack and you're about to search what you're gonna watch.. Welchy has uploaded 🥺💞 best combo!
i like the attention to Detail with Santa having a Russian accent, while St. Nicholas was German, the village he lived in was part of Rus (later Russia) at the time.
this was my fav movie when I was a kid, it had everything sad scenes that I can relate to, exciting storyline and it had every mythical figure I believed in. the thing is this movie is totally underrated I tried to share this blessing of mine with others but all of them refused to watch it I still love this movie and I believe it's the reason I was so imaginative.
Fun fact this is based on the the book series the guardians of childhood by William Joyce the author who wrote the book or books that rolie polie Olie was based off of happy Easter by the way
This movie was adorable, I love it so much. I think of it the same way I think of Megamind. Megamind was amazing and it's a shame it didn't get the recognition Despicable Me did buuuuttttt if it did, there would be the possibility of it getting shitty sequels and the franchise being, imo ruined. But I love that Megamind and Rise of the Guardians are getting at least some of the praise and recognition they deserve right now. Also, totally watch Guardians of Ga'Hoole! It's not a perfect story but it's so beautifully animated and cute and seriously beautifully animated like it had no right to look that good being released in 2010. I watched it a little while ago after trying to figure out where this one Owl City song was from and it was from the soundtrack of that movie. I love it so so much.
I’ve seen the owls of Ga’hoole like twice but I didn’t know owl city had a song in the soundtrack and I just found it now and it’s so cute and it’s so fitting that owl city would have a song for a movie about owls I love it
i remember my siblings and i watched this together last christmas just cause we wanted to stay up and be festive about it, after the movie we were like Wow What The Fuck why was that really good. why does no one talk about how good this is
TOTALLY UNDERRATED!!! I watched this a couple of years ago with my kids during Christmas and it's now a regular holiday (Christmas, Easter, snow day, etc) movie. I tear up every time we watch it!
To be honest when I watched this for the first time I didn't expect much. But I also just loved this completely new concept. Surely, something different than another princess movie 😅 Great video and reaction as always! 🤩
I always thought this was a good movie 😊 I'm not entirely sure why it flopped but I'm pretty sure it had something to do with the budget and the fact that some were offended by the movies' interpretation of Santa..... personally, he was my favorite 🤣
I think it’s because the same year the movie was released in there was 2 big works released in it too and the same month of the movie have a lot of waiting movies and works
Honestly, Bear in the Big Blue house slapped. Tutter the mouse was my favorite. And Bear sticking his muzzle into the camera was such an awesome fourth wall break
Saw this movie when it came out in theatres and to this day it is one of my favourite films! It's a great stand alone film so I'm not mad that it didn't get a sequel or anything but I'm sad that it doesn't get the recognition. Like the characters are so much fun and the story (be it simple) is engaging and there's a clear plot line from one scene to another, it builds off of itself. I hope more people watch it and be pleasantly surprised!
I'm so down these days and you really cheer me up. Today is the death day of my Grandfather and I'm just depressed. So thank you. And this is one of my favorite movies ever
I'm so happy to see this especially since I recently became OBSESSED with this movie again. There's a book series which this movie is inspired by which I'm hoping to get, and I'm so upset there's no sequel they could've done so much, maybe looked into the backstories of the other Guardians or got a redemption arc for Pitch or something, I think that'd be cool to explore And god the dynamics of the characters all work so well, they're all so unique and fun including Pitch and his energeticness, I don't think I'll ever get over this amazing masterpiece Also there is even more angst in the books, Pitch was originally a good guy but was manipulated by hearing his daughter's voice, like how Jack heard his sister's voice, and he became corrupted North was born an orphan in Russia, his village was in danger by Pitch so he went to try and save it Tooth's only alive relative left is her sister, the others are dead And Bunny fled to Earth after becoming the last of his kind, the last Pooka left because Pitch killed his entire race
It's funny you mentioned Elsa because there was once a community of Jack Frost and Elsa shippers. Idk if they are still around but I do very clearly remember them 😅
This is such an underrated movie; I loved this movie! I suggest maybe watching “Epic” which is another under-appreciated animated movie with a beautiful plot.
The owl movie is The Guardians Of Ga'hoole. XD William Joyce made a picture book with absolutely gorgeous art titled The Man In The Moon. He also made the book series of this titled The Guardians Of Childhood. There's 5 in total, with Jack being on the final book. I'm guessing Jack died when he was about 16. He DID try to attack Pitch, but they didn't see that. They just knew he went to take the girl home, then he comes back late and he has his teeth, but no Baby Tooth with him.
i also watched this for the first time in recent years in a spur of the moment decision. It was really enjoyable for something i only remember being advertised for such a little time
As a child I hated Pitch but when I grew up and I rewatched this movie as an adult, I actually felt really sad for Pitch, I thought it was heartbreaking how his fear is represented by a childhood bed. It makes me wonder. But anyway, he makes me sad as an adult.
At least here in New Zealand I remember this movie being advertised into the ground. It felt like every add break was advertising this movie. But I’m not sure how good the advertising was because I know my sister at first didn’t want to watch it. So we didn’t go to see it at the movies. But when I got it out from the DVD store she fell in love with it. As did I. It’s one of those movies if you watch it you love it but it may take some time to get around to watching it 🥰
watching this movie at the cinema around christmas time together with my parents and my then best friend and her parents is one of the best childhood memories I have. Seriously this movie is an absolute masterpiece. Even back then I absolutely fell in love with the story and world building♥️
Lol Welch Bear in the Big Blue House was mine and my brother's fav show when we were kids it rlly did slap :D so cool that you know it, i thought it was long forgotten
Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole is an interesting movie... You should consider watching it in the future! As for this movie, Rise of the Guardians, we watch this ever Easter! It has become a family classic for us! Oh, and Welchy? David doesn't suck. My hubby's name is Daivd, so I happen to be quite partial to it! 😉
Was already so excited for this commentary, then got hit with the Bear in the Big Blue House nostalgia. That show was the BEST 😂 hope you get to feeling better!! 💛
i remember watching this as a kid and I never knew it was a forgotten thing, I remember it like the back of my head when i was like 5-6 and im 18 now it's so crazy! ahhh I'm glad you have similar reactions I did when i rewatched the movie as an adult
You know I have watched this movie hundreds of times and I truly never realized baby tooth had heterochromia possibly because she has small eyes and other than that I am glad you liked the movie
I'll never forget this movie. I really loved it as a child, so I lent the DVD to my dad for him to watch. The next time I was at his place - over two years later, after his funeral - I found it sitting on the coffee table in his living room. In pristine condition and with no dust on the case whatsoever.
I am actually extremely grateful for your reaction on Rise of the Guardians. There aren't many reactions to this film like there are for any other Disney or DreamWorks movie. So I'm definitely gonna come back to watch this many times, Thank you. This movie has been my #1 favorite ever since I saw it in theaters. That's 9 years and half of my life dedicated to it. And unlike Megamind or Road to El Dorado, this movie never got a big fan base over the years. It's got a cult following, every movie does, but it's not nearly as big. (I guess that's part of why rotg just feels so personal to me.) So it's really nice to see that it's finally getting some attention since it's release. Which was released the same month as Breaking Dawn part 2, Wreck It Ralph, Life of Pie, Lincoln and Skyfall. Giant movies all released in November 2012 so rotg ended up being incredibly overshadowed at the time. It's understandable but it still sucks because I may have never seen Skyfall or Lincoln but in my opinion, Rotg is better than all the others. Not only the movie itself but just how much detail and work went into the animation, the characters, their personality, homes, and backstories. Some may say that you can just read the original book series to know their pasts but Rotg and the Guardians of Childhood books are NOT the same universe. Part of which because only 2 of those books had been released during the films production (Tooth's book being released just a month before the movie). And if one were to get their hands on the concept art book (which I have) you'd know that the creators made different backstories for them all. The designs of the Guardians homes each hold indications of separate pasts from their book counterparts. North has a tapestry of when he befriended the yeti, Tooth's mural hints at her heritage (human father and hummingbird mother)(not sister of flight) and the sculptures in Bunny's Warren indicates a long lost civilization of rabbit-folk tribes. Just so much love and work put into this movie only for it to flop because of it's release timing and cause DreamWorks to nearly go bankrupt because of something it didn't do. Thus being shafted to the back of DreamWorks' library because they thought the film was the problem and instead banking on giving Trolls and Boss Baby the sequel treatment instead. It breaks my heart. So once again, thank you for making a reaction to this film and helping to bring it back into the light it more than deserves to be in.
Definitely underrated 😁 thanks for watching this one really enjoyed your commentary as always, a favorite film and favourite content creator can't go wrong with that 🥳 hope you and everyone has a lovely day x
I love this movie so much! A family favorite 😁 I am pretty glad you watched this movie 😄 because it is seriously very underrated and unheard of. 😢 I remember that it came out at the same time as the last movie of the twilight saga and another famous franchise. 😭 The voice cast was composed of pretty famous actors and based on a best seller novel, so it had the elements for a good marketing. I am still sad that it did not receive the love it deserved at the moment of its release 😐 Anyway, great video! 👍 Your commentary was funny 😂

You should watch Guardians of Ga'Hoole, that's the owl movie you were probably thinking of. They are both great movies!
Definitely! Great suggestion x
Yes this ⬆
I mean, the movie is fine if you haven't read the books...
I don't really like this movie and I'm surprised someone else knows about it I never hear people talk about it
That movie was a part of my childhood, I loved it
ROTG is literally my CHILDHOOD. I loved it, Sandman's death always made me cry, Jack's "death" scene made tears fall, and EB turning into a mini rabbit was always hilarious.
I would like to personally thank u for brining more recognition to this gorgeous movie
😊
Apologies if you notice how unwell I look or acted, I was close to my death bed filming this 😂 However, Happy Easter everyone 👊🏼
S'okay dude. If memory serves, last guy who died today came back without a problem.
Honestly didn't notice it at all! Hope you're doing better now!
Happy Easter welchy
Happy Easter, love ya, feel better
Didn't even notice, wouldn't have known at all if ya hadn't said anything!
I love when the villain is someone that the hero could have been if they took different choices aha
ALSO SOMETHING I LOVED that I hadn’t seen before!! Was the fact that SANDMAN was the- like the powerful one that pitch got scared of, an important key in the defeat, the job that’s usually given to the main character. I just think that’s neat.
I always loved this movie it was such an amazing storyline to include all the fictional characters, truly an underrated masterpiece
Also I took the meaning of 'boogie' as dance, which lead to very funny thoughts
I'd say he did the 'boogie' atop North's globe as the lights were going out. 😂 Perhaps the secret reason his nickname is the boogieman...😆
Wait, this movie failed? Never wouldda guessed, having been on tumblr when it came out. It was very popular there.
I had no idea that it failed too
It didn't fail because it was bad it failed because not a lot of people really know about it, like shit I randomly came across this movie. No trailers, no ads or anything just was randomly searching "Christmas movies"
@@zerochilling0442 oh
I watched this soo many times when I was younger
I love this movie. It is so whimsical and tightly written, and the characters are so heartbreakingly relatable.
I love the theory that Jamie is Jack's sister's descendant. They look similar, and live near the same pond, and I think it adds an extra special touch that the legacy of Jack's sacrifice lives on, and even helped save the world.
Welchy: “I was so disappointed that there’s no owls”
*_1 second later_*
Welchy: *“Forget about the owls!”*
Literally just understood why Pitch’s lair had a bed over it. Jesus I’m dumb.
Omg same hare I literally just saw this comment and it clicked 😂
I Never got it. Is it because he‘s the Monster under your bed?
When you take a break from studying , you're having your afternoon snack and you're about to search what you're gonna watch.. Welchy has uploaded 🥺💞 best combo!
Appreciate you
@@Welchy We appreciate you too!! (◕ᴗ◕✿) Happy Easter!
0:13 Trollhunters is such a good series. I highly recommend it. It’s the one underneath Rise of the Guardians. It’s so good❤❤❤❤
i like the attention to Detail with Santa having a Russian accent, while St.
18:37 when jack frost said "when moon tells you something believe it" ... Marc Spector aka Steven grant aka Jake lockley took it personally
I love Moon Knight
This is the only Santa I like lol
1:37 literally just unlocked a core memory 😭😭
Bruh, I had a sippy-cup with that brand.
My guy, your accent and genuine positivity towards my favorite cartoon just helped me go through a really rough time, and I’m grateful for that
Oh, this is TOTALLY underrated, I really love this film! I’m not sure why it failed, maybe because of sabotage like with Treasure Planet?
I think it’s because the same year the movie was released in there was 2 big works released in it too and the same month of the movie have a lot of waiting movies and works
@@HoneyPooOoO So similar to Treasure Planet.
@@DarkFoxKirin But not intentional.
Honestly, Bear in the Big Blue house slapped. Tutter the mouse was my favorite. And Bear sticking his muzzle into the camera was such an awesome fourth wall break
16:08 was the most adorable reaction I have ever seen loolol
This movie is impeccable I will die on this hill comfort movie
Saw this movie when it came out in theatres and to this day it is one of my favourite films! It's a great stand alone film so I'm not mad that it didn't get a sequel or anything but I'm sad that it doesn't get the recognition. Like the characters are so much fun and the story (be it simple) is engaging and there's a clear plot line from one scene to another, it builds off of itself. I hope more people watch it and be pleasantly surprised!
10:11
Actually, bunnies do like carrots. But they prefer the green stem and leaves, as opposed to the orange root (which is what we eat).
I love how they put the entrance to Pitch's hide out under a bed because the boogie Man live under your bed!
I'm so down these days and you really cheer me up. Today is the death day of my Grandfather and I'm just depressed. So thank you. And this is one of my favorite movies ever
Aw wow, I’m so sorry to hear that. I know the feeling. He’s in a better place now and I’m sure he was so proud of you!
@@Welchy thank you. That means a lot to me^^
OMG YESSS
I fully agree with the title 😌✨
NOW ONTO WATCHING~
To answer the question about leaving the kids on the ice, look at the credits and the end credit scenes
I'm so happy to see this especially since I recently became OBSESSED with this movie again. There's a book series which this movie is inspired by which I'm hoping to get, and I'm so upset there's no sequel they could've done so much, maybe looked into the backstories of the other Guardians or got a redemption arc for Pitch or something, I think that'd be cool to explore
And god the dynamics of the characters all work so well, they're all so unique and fun including Pitch and his energeticness, I don't think I'll ever get over this amazing masterpiece
Also there is even more angst in the books, Pitch was originally a good guy but was manipulated by hearing his daughter's voice, like how Jack heard his sister's voice, and he became corrupted
North was born an orphan in Russia, his village was in danger by Pitch so he went to try and save it
Tooth's only alive relative left is her sister, the others are dead
And Bunny fled to Earth after becoming the last of his kind, the last Pooka left because Pitch killed his entire race
If you look closely at Baby Tooth, the little hummingbird that follows Jack around, the beauty mark on her cheek matches Jack’s sister too.
It's funny you mentioned Elsa because there was once a community of Jack Frost and Elsa shippers. Idk if they are still around but I do very clearly remember them 😅
Yeah the Jelsa fandom is still alive!
This is such an underrated movie; I loved this movie!
I suggest maybe watching “Epic” which is another under-appreciated animated movie with a beautiful plot.
The owl movie is The Guardians Of Ga'hoole. XD
William Joyce made a picture book with absolutely gorgeous art titled The Man In The Moon.
It was really enjoyable for something i only remember being advertised for such a little time
This was literally one of my favourite movies when I was younger. I'm so happy you're reacting to it. (I hope you get better soon)
I grew up with this movie, it's such a good comfort watch. It's hilarious to see you watch it for the first time
As a child I hated Pitch but when I grew up and I rewatched this movie as an adult, I actually felt really sad for Pitch, I thought it was heartbreaking how his fear is represented by a childhood bed.
As did I. It’s one of those movies if you watch it you love it but it may take some time to get around to watching it 🥰
pitch was the ultimate sass king and i love it
I like how this Movie is getting attention again as a kid i used to watch it like every weekend bc i really liked it
13:54 I thought that was actually what jack saiddddd whyyyyy 😭😭😭~sincerely a high person
watching this movie at the cinema around christmas time together with my parents and my then best friend and her parents is one of the best childhood memories I have.
Seriously this movie is an absolute masterpiece. Even back then I absolutely fell in love with the story and world building♥️
Ayyy new upload! Happy Easter Welchy 🐣😆
Happy Easter lily!
I watched this when it came out in the cinemas and it was fr amazing! I was so amazed and like CRIED and stuff
I was in grade two when it came out- I’m in grade 12 now and it’s still one of my favourites
“you dare have fun in my presence” he jus like me fr
Was already so excited for this commentary, then got hit with the Bear in the Big Blue House nostalgia. That show was the BEST 😂 hope you get to feeling better!! 💛
Your “Bear in the Big Blue House” reference had me hit subscribe in a second! Been binge watching your stuff and I love it!
Ah this is such a fun movie I'm happy to see you react to it! ^^ ♡
The voiceactor for Pitch Black (Jude Law,) plays Albus Dumbledore in the Fantastic Beasts movies!
I love this! Thank you, Welchy! Been waiting for this one a while. It's so good!
i remember watching this as a kid and I never knew it was a forgotten thing, I remember it like the back of my head when i was like 5-6 and im 18 now it's so crazy! ahhh I'm glad you have similar reactions I did when i rewatched the movie as an adult
Never forgot this movie, it was and always has been one of my favorites and it's sad that it doesn't get as much love as it deserves.
Shout out to Peter Ramsey as the director. I love watching the BTS videos. You can really see how much time, effort, and love he put into this film. Shame it didn't get the appreciation or support it deserved.
I obsessed over this movie back in the day! And I crushed on Jack Frost so damn much~! Watching this reaction refueled my love for it.; your commentary was funny/fun to listen to.
Ohhhhhh my god Rise of the Guardians is literally the most epic animated movie!👌👏💖love the commentary! amazing and hilarious as always!☺️😂👏
For real Bear in The Big Blue House was my EVERYTHING.
I'm sad that not many people talk about it.
5:42 Why did I laugh at this photo? 😂
I had no idea this movie was underrated. My family has watched this movie for Christmas for most of my life. I love it a lot and it’s probably my favorite kids movie
