Kristin Chenoweth is amazing. She was a big portion of why this movie was so good. Her performance and singing were incredible

I was not technically sad, but I was pretty shocked when I found out when my sister told me.
These Descendants movies are definitely aimed at kids (unlike a lot of 'kids' movies and shows which could be for all audiences). I remember when this came out and I thought it was so freaking good but now I watch it and I'm like 'god, I could act better than half these actors and I failed GSCE drama' 😂
i was like 14 when this movie came out and i was obsessed because i thought it was soooo good and now i was ashamed of my past lol

I love these movies only because the base story has SO MUCH POTENTIAL. If they gave it a proper budget and some proper actors and maybe fixed some of the loop holes and didn't go too kiddish it would make a very good movie or tv show. Along the lines of Once upon a time but in the fairytale world and about their kids.
@@monkimallow i would’ve liked it if they didn’t modernize the setting so much; the timeline doesn’t even seem to make sense either since a lot of the villains lived during different times in the past
they have tones of songs to make kids like it. the idea of VK's is a good one,but should have been done aimed at YA,not kids. and they want more movies about it.

Descendents is one of those movies that if you think too logically and critically it just ruins it. Better to go in and just have fun with it. Even if it is overly cheesy at points and over the top, it's such a fun time.

For some reason I never questioned why only one guard was looking after all those artifacts.
Maybe because there are supposed to be only good guys in the realm (since all the evil ones are imprisoned at the island) so there shouldn't be anyone who wants to steal them.

Now looking back at this movie a few years later its god awful but also pretty nostalgic to the times where i didnt know what the world was really like and when i thought i was an actual disney princess-
It's because of Disney making The Descendants that Ever After High got canceled. Ever After High was arguably a way better version of this story. The animation was beautiful, the story lines were interesting, the characters were pretty complex. And Disney just stole the idea and cheaply created The descendants. F**ked up.

@@OrcaAnimus2292 it just felt like there was too much going on they started this program then they had to end it Mal and Ben were getting married Mal and company had to team up with Uma and Company they did that liar reveal thing and Hades was secretly Mal's dad the whole time and they threw in this plot line where Evie and Doug became super awkward despite seeming to be an already-established couple in the second movie

I wanted to let you know that I’m a recent subscriber, and your videos legitimately bring me joy. There are so many commentators on this platform that are trying to be be sardonic or pick apart the things they’re watching; but you always seem to come into it with an attitude of wanting to have fun, more than anything else. I really appreciate that.
The world is always so hectic. But thousands of miles away there’s a guy who likes to sit down and have fun watching movies, and that makes me happy.

The reason I like these movies is because they gave me exactly what I was expecting. Enjoyable cheese.
For me personally, it kinda has that Kingdom Hearts vibe of taking an admittedly silly concept and playing it 100% straight for enjoyment. You can tell everyone is having fun even when they're not the best, which helps gives the movies a charm to them for being what they are. Plus, it also makes perfect sense to both play into and make fun of Disney tropes because these characters were quite literally raised on them.
Damn, I always forget how great the comedy in this movie is! Such good one liners and the characters bounce off each other really well!
we definitely watched in the same era as Disney hence, I recommend you also watch Lemonade mouth. It's just years after HM3 and i believe it's one of their underrated gems. It's a musical too and did not flop as hard as teen beach. (no shade)

Evil Like Me is a nod to Kristen Chenoweth (Maleficent) in her role as Glinda in Wicked. Right down to the flying and vaudeville-style musical number.
The sport with those wooden sticks and the ball is called hurling. It's an irish sport and it is DEADLY. There isn't a kill zone unfortunately😂
There is a lot that comes before the film. There are four novels; The first one the isle of the lost is pretty much the story before the first film which explains how Mal,Evie, Jay, and Carlos became the iconic core 4. The second film is the best of the trilogy. As far as the core 4’s other parents you meet one of them in the third descendants movie. 💜💙💛❤️🍎
Rip cameron Boyce….. he was one of my favorite actors.. he also did a role in Hey Jessie and he was HILARIOUS i would laugh so hard

Descendants used to be my favourite movie when it came out, I have actually watched all three at least 10 times each. Not by choice, it was just the only thing on TV

What J is, a thief, athletic Jock and ladies man, kinda simple... So instead of making Jafars son similar to him or a parady, Jafars son is basically Dumb Alladin! How??
Yeah he seems more like Aladdin’s son.
Except for the theories that Jay might be Aladdin's son (which doesn't make sense unless you read the book, the second specifically)... There was another theory that Jafar raised his son to be the evil counterpart of his archenemy... And to stock the shelves in his junk shop (by stealing)
*And Jafar only let his son sleep under a shelf stacked with heavy TVs and any night he could be crushed to death in his sleep.

The guy that directed this series worked with Michael Jackson on his “This is it” tour. You can see some of Michaels influence in the dancing. If you get to the third one you’ll find out who slept with Maleficent.
This is one of those types of movies that's really fun when you dont take it too seriously. Like obviously its not the best movie out there, but its just entertaining

Thanks for giving me a huge permasmile like the dang Joker! I am so excited to hear your thoughts on the Descendants movie(s?). I've watched each one at least 10x, and the number of watches only grew as each movie got released! It may be a guilty pleasure, but I love that people like you, even ask cool and sweet as you are, are willing to give the original, at least, a fair shake that our four main VKs didn't have before the start of this film. Plus it's a lot of fun to see reviewers like Bobsheaux have a conniption, but I think you can more easily keep your cool enough that we viewers don't need your address and 911 on speed dial.
If you decide on doing parts 2 and three, (also amazing vocals and songs in general) you should know that cam will still be in both, and that the second part feels a tiny bit rushed to me. Other than that theyre also amazing!

I watched these a couple of years back for the first time. The second one was by far the best in my opinion. Some of those songs were so catchy! Please do the second one. It's funny to see other adults react to them for the first time because you're right. It's a fever dream 😅
A much better Disney crossover movie is the House of mouse Mickey’s house of villains. The premise is Mickey Mouse owns a night club and Disney characters show up to eat, and watch cartoons and other performances.
It's not a nightclub it's a dinner theater

The only excuse I can give for Maleficent to be this comically stupid is to look at the actress. Kristen Chenoweth was the original Broadway actress to play Glenda, the good witch of the north in Wicked. Take a listen to her song, Popular, from the stage play, and then try to picture the original Maleficent in that role for a minute.........

there is no magic on the isle of lost, which is why Malfiecent wants the wand to break the barrier. the staff is useless or Malfiecent, let's be honest, would have been the first person to get off the isle.

Since you've watch Highschool Musical and now Descendents. I'd recommend watching Julie And The Phantoms, directed by the same director of both of these trilogy and in my opinion, Julie and The Phantoms has a better storyline. Soundtrack is good too. ALSO it's not by Disney, it's by Netflix :D Please react to all episodes of it, the best parts are like at the middle!
