Justin thank you for going the extra mile to make this videos. Blessings to you and your family.
That’s actually a really easy filter to get to. There are so many tractors with filters that you have to get from a creeper- starter and everything else will be in your way.
Haha dont remind me of the autocars with the fuel filter directly above the starter
Lmao I love when he curses and is realistic about how annoying and messy shit will be
I work at a kenworth dealer, we always do the oil first or the fuel first. Never both at the same time. You got lucky junkie working on the cummins with the lift pump, if if was a paccar those don’t have lift pumps like the cummins do that are activated with the key. Doing one before the other insures that u have oil pressure before u get the truck started or that the fuel system is primed before you hit the throttle to get any possible air out of the fuel system. Cycling the key a handful of times will help ya with that initial start too. Not saying that what u did was wrong, simply what I’ve done in the dealership setting to maximize my time. Nothing worse than having to waste time getting a truck primed using a pneumatic brake bleeder to pull air out of the fuel system to get her running. Thanks for the vidja junkie! Glad someone is showin people the pm process with these big trucks
I got so nervous watching the truck crank and crank. Should always do oil then fuel or vise versa
Great argument against buying used equipment
Nice job . I always found it easier to fill the pre-filter on the frame with fuel the cycle the key 3 times and let the lift pump fill the main filter since its such a pain to get in there and get started some times. Whatever works best for you though.
Yep, same cab as the 567 just different doors and mirror placement. I personally like the mirror placement on the T880 vs the 567, they set forward more vs on the door. My personal opinion of course. Thanks for sharing
Who was watching the oil gun to see if it was going to fall off tire? Lol. Nice work justin. Very impressive. Not alot of people know how to work on their own trucks.
Cummins have such a strong cam it tightens the oil filter. The trick is to run the engine for a minute after the new filter is on; then back it off 1/8 a turn. .
Thanks for sharing Justin.
Lol I let a 11 minute ad play all the way through I hope you got paid =)
I love maintenance videos it gets me formilar with trucks I don’t ever get to touch and love this stuff so much I take it in like a dam machines computer lol I’m good when it comes to finessing mechanics and using the tools
Hey man nice vid! What’s the name of the tool u use to add oil with it was measuring qts?
nice video, your production quality is awesome!
Thanks for the video's. USN Veteran.
I hope your doing good. I love your videos. You make great videos. Very good job!
So what do you guys think? Looking at the engine on the T880 would you go with a Peteterbilt or Kenworth?
Can I get a part number for that Eletric pump you use to fill up the fuel filter thanks brother keep the videos coming
Great content.
I just bought an 06 t800 for my concrete company. Truck is not being used everyday so I want to truck for someone a few days a week when we’re not using it. Any advice I can get from you I’d appreciate it! Thanks.
Best way to get those filter are with the band flex filter tools grab them in a good spot so you dont crush the filter
44.1 quarts glad the owner needed a oil change I don't think 44.1 quarts came out of the engine WOW!! Good video
Schaeffer makes excellent oils & greases. Great people in the company too.
Just a suggestion you could use a air hammer to puch a hole in the oil filter its a lil easier
do you put the date and mileage on the filter
should have the drivers pressure wash the trucks when they come back to the yard at the end of the day.
“Some people don’t believe in filling oil filters but I do” well, you kinda forgot to lube up the o ring...
🤣
Nobody lubes the oil filter that's for retards that never worked on cars. There's oil already on there.
Why does Eaton make so many things and is it the same people who make these things like I got a Eaton locker (stock) in the rear end of my z and when I was a kid I had a Eaton 50 fourwheeler it was a good fourwheeler but a off brand I guess and also on my daughters raptor 90 it has a Eaton carb on it! Do they make all that stuff or what
You need to put grease on the filter gaskets so it won't suck air and it makes it easier to get them off. Good video.
" it's the 21st Dec"!🤔😂time traveller I guess
Paul Spiller, you caught that too? Maybe you should start calling Justin the "Flash"! HaHa
Your blue peterbilt is at my works body shop!
How wide is your shop?
Great video Justin. A Schaeffer’s question - do you run it in your wifes gas vehicle? I may get 5W20 for my ram, and 5w40 for Dads diesel tractor.
Grease most definitely does not go on the hood bumper either, because A, it makes a mess, and B, it’s not intended for it. I’d use Sil Glyde if I were you, but that’s just me.
What’s the part number on that fuel transfer pump?
Those fuel filters have a tap at the bottom so you dont make a mess
Lmao had me dying about oil all over you same here man gotta buy some EZ DRAIN when you do your next oil changes install that instead of the plug then you'll stay clean from then on and keep the vids up always great
Do you wash the engine bay is so would you make a video on that?
The X15 is a good engine but it's still not a kta600 cummins
The six head monster. Lol
Looks pretty nice compared to the junk trucks we have that I work on all the time 7500 GMC and Chevy's lol
Most GM products are fucking junk and a pain in the ass to work on especially the new ones.
I pity the next guy who has to remove that fuel filter! Damn you used some gnarly pliers on it.
Yup I just gotta say it 'Alrighteee'
Your shop has come a looong way since you started, I'v been with ya since the beginning, Congrats on all your success.... Good things happen to good people.. Peace out Junkie..
~1000 F fuel temp???
You should use a half drive band wrench. Teeth on pliers put dents in the filters.
How much does it cost to maintain one of those. I’m trying to see if it makes sense right now
To buy one
is that an LNG truck?
You're all about the business
Yea in Alabama we are allowed 82500 pounds now on the interstate they base it the length of ur truck
GET SOME OVERALLS MAN.
Where can pick up those channel locks you use on the filters?
Nipex Pliers ....napa, snap on, matco trucks
Ken Uber thank you
Wheres the safety stand under the dump box. Even though it's new you never know it can come down.
How was there no oil in the old filter.
So you did a preventative maintenance maintenance?
sergio pena Yep
Whats up Justin! Hope things are going smooth bud! Great video, enjoy watching you get all damn dirty while I sit in the old easy chair, Lol
Are the pliers the 22” cobra on your amazon store?
Tommy Boswell yes Online tool vendors.com you can find them on their
JUSTIN STURGILL TRUCKING thank you ordering now
December 21st? Can I have a turn in the time portal
Nope.....Just for Justin!!
how much for JST PM 3 bills? come back
I take a punch and knock a hole in my filters and let them drain then spin them off
I drain the plastic filter before I spin it off
Didn’t prime the F/W Sep is why it shut back down on you so much.
there is 2 different version of the T880 one is the set forward axle wich is the T880S and the standard version the T880 wich is set back
shiftyaloa t880s is set forward regular t880 is set back
thx i got complelty mixed up yeah t880s the axle is closer to the bumper
shiftyaloa yes sir the 880s is kinda odd looking I think it’s like it’s confused if it wants to be a w900 or a t880
The driver of that truck needs to learn to do maitinence being low on oil is not good
lol Justin's the man.you know what I'm sayin? uhhh... and all that shit.
It’s junkie time !!!
holy crap bro. oil change at 20 to 30k fuel filter every November air filter once a year. grease every week$$$$$$
Are you sure you put the plug back in
Why does it need a force regen.
good job driver! lol
I’m sure no one cares but I have a 1998 Ford lt8511 with a 8.3 Cummins. Tandem axle. And I usually gross out at a hair over 80k. Maybe not safe and I’m sure no one cares but I feel pretty bad ass pulling on the scales.
crazy that fuel filter i'll take my cat style instead of that
I subscribed at "little dickin' er'" 😂😂 .. & please use block of wood under the body just in case 🖤
I don't know my 2018 a let me be Janet when it needs to be and it hasn't needed to be regen yet and it won't let me do it so why would you force it with a computer program and teach the driver had to use the computer in the truck on there when it needs to be regen and all he's got to do is request the parked Regen
are you telling me that P.O.S. cummins is burning oil at 7000 miles? the oil in a paccar is still perfectly clean at 7000, zero oil burn at 20k miles, and where the hell is the coolant going?
485 horse he’ll get more miles out of the engine than you will out of yours, less horsepower more longevity
Why force a regen at 7000 miles!”?!??
That's what I was about to say.
Questions on my lic exam how to change hyd filter on a dump truck raise body or lower body? I put raise body that way ut get less messy but my friend told me lower body to think safety
F/W Sep didn’t have a drain at the bottom??
It does, drain is next to the wif sensor . 1 full turn left and it would have started to drain the fuel out of the filter housing. Once that happens loosen the filter housing to allow it to not syphon fuel from the lines anymore and to drain the housing. I usually catch it in a gallon jug to keep it off of the suspension components .
Ryan Kovaly Yeah I haven’t worked on a 2018 or newer, but I figured there is no way they did away with the drain. Haha
I really like your channel. I really wish you would tone it down with the bad words!! Most of the spare time that I have to look at your videos is at home and I have to switch the video because my kids are around.
They have a really lazy driver for the fluids to be that low
“HOW THE FUCK ARE YOU GUYS DOING”!!
Lol, RUclips’s new preview and subtitle feature:
“Hey RUclips, it’s Justin the DONKEY”
Is he saying it's a powerful motor or isn't?
Just get a plastic bag when taking the filter off lol let the shit fall in bag
greezing
Wth! That low in miles and the oil level is that low already.
The oil was 4 quarts low out of 44, no big deal. The coolant level sensors in those are notriusly finicky and they have to be full to the top. Drivers are dumb and won't drain the fuel/water separator even if you show them how. I would pressure test the coolant system and see if there is any loose hose clamps. And wtf justin why arent you draining the fuel/water separator before taking it off....
When changing the fuel filters just do 1 at a time and start it in between, makes priming a lot easier.
Leave the cap on the fuel filter untill you get it behind the frame rail.
You made me come back to edit this once again, the dip stick is even stamped with directions on how much oil to add to take it from the low to full mark. And if your changing air filters by looks and not a restriction gauge you are throwing money away.
Why are you running a regen on it? It does passive regens on its own once hit highway speeds. If your concerned with idle time turn on the idle shut down timer.
Those restriction gauge's are notoriously fucked. We do a lot of services and B/D inspections for a dump haul company. The filters on those things get right clogged with sand and shit and the gauge still reads like 1'' of water restriction (lowest point on the gauge) Had a highway unit that had cardboard, wrappers, leaves and shit in it to the point the engine was throwing codes and was bogged down and the gauge still read almost no restriction.
Dump truck drivers rarely turn the truck off, is why the reason to do an extra regen to keep that shit cleared out. And if you turn the timer on, they just release the parking brake and set it. Also, line haul freight drivers are notorious idlers as well. My company watches us P&D drivers like a hawk for our idle times, but then they completely overlook our line haul drivers. I’ve seen this with a bunch of other freight outfits.
@@xxpr0nag3xx you know your supposed to check them for function right? Take a clipboard with the engine at idle and start to slide it over the intake slowly and if it moves it works. If it doesn't its fucked, get a new one.
@@ozzyo6733 Yes, I do. You can also push the release button before you run up the engine for the service, and if it doesnt move back to where it was, its fucked. I have tried both check methods and id say at least 8/10 were fucked on every service i did. It got to the point i stopped checking and i pull the filter every time to check now. Those things are garbage.
How the fuck are you doing today!?!?
Engine has electric fuel pump just turn the key on.
Lifetime ujoints fuckin great.....
😀👍🏼🎄🎁🎄🎁🇺🇸🎄🎁🇺🇸
You make things harder on yourself by trying to do everything standing up or sitting on your stool! U gotta get down on a creeper and pull those filters! U look like a complete amateur.. Lol I'm pretty certain that plastic fuel filter has a drain on it. That'd help u out a great deal there. U really should look into getting ur certifications. U'll learn so much more from it.
Just an FYI, I wasn't trying to be disrespectful. I was being kind of sarcastic, but just giving u a few tips. I know uve probably learned a lot since this video. I been a mechanic most my life and worked as a Diesel Tech for 2yrs. Uve definitely come a long ways tho! 👏💪👍
If that was my truck I would be pissed there is absolutely no excuse to not keep it full of oil
Drop every filter he took off
You never tighten an oil filter with a wrench. "Like a professional"...
That laptop looks old as dirt
There no drain plug on that water separator. Looks like amateur hour there for the video he forgot the drain plug to loosen on the water separators. I do it to sometime I call it amateur hour when I do it.
Those u joints suck. They’re heavy as hell
It has an electric fuel pump no need to prime filters. Just cycle the key you yahoo !
Why would your reputation for fixing things catch up to you because they're bringing him brand-new trucks there's not much to fix
That truck needs a new driver
Dump truck should be no frills all of that nonsense on it make no sense! To much to go haywire - regulations/emissions/nothing like a nanny states!
All them tools and your using knipex Chanel locks to install a filter 😑
Josh Brokos all the gear with no idea lol
No offense but unless you're a Cummins dealer I wouldn't be messing with codes on a guys truck because of the fact the engine is under warranty and if he's having issues it should be taken to a Cummins certified dealer shop because it could be something as simple as a software update that's needed to fix something other than the Regeneration. Just as with cars there could be a TSB related to some of the codes and those should be addressed by a authorized dealer. Essentially you hit the wrong button and you could invalidate the owners warranty or a failure of something could not be covered under warranty because something as simple as maybe the way you learned something a year or even 6 months ago could've changed. The Cummins dealers are constantly having to send guys to schools for updates, online learningh over the internet at home or if shop time is slow and changes are always evolving. As a matter of fact because you constantly have techs working with engineers daily via the internet or over the phone solving problems this is at times how repair procedures get created as sometimes they have to work thru issues using the computer so essentially all the techs worldwide are helping create the repair information for the rest of their fellow techs. Same goes for Auto industry.
Think vehicle networks are problems in cars? Well in Europe they already have Fiber Optic and the U.S. is just now getting heavy in CAN BUS networks. Fixing cars is getting really complicated and requires work thru at times. Only reason I know this is I do mobile diagnostics and probably have $15-20k in diagnostic and reprogramming equipment not to count probably another $60-70 k in air, hand and cordless tools and shop & specialty equipment and I have no shop location. I have all the stuff in my house and have to plan and give forethought for what I need for each upcoming job as one day it may be reprogramming and the next day pressed in wheel bearings and brakes and I press remove and install what I can right there on the vehicle. It's not a cheap press but it's operated by electric, air or hand tools depending on the circumstances.
The dealership can grab historic fault codes. He can clear all the codes he wants. We can still see them. Source - Am working in a Cummins certified dealership.
@@xxpr0nag3xx yes but he shouldn't be messing with him to begin with anyways now what if he gets the software that goes in and deletes the heart codes including history? Do they still allow history to be deleted if you have a OEM software? If so they made a lot of changes over the last several years from when I drove them and from 20-plus years ago when I used to work on them. Transferred to the automobile side
@@dtnel He would have to re-flash the ECM. I doubt he could figure out how to do that on his own and it is a lot of steps to even do it. You would have to know what your doing to dre-flash the ECU. Clearing codes does fuck all. If the module throwing the codes see's the fault is still active within i think its 100 cycles (module cycles which is like 60 secs not key cycles) then it will throw the code again. He could sit there all day clearing codes and it wont fuck with anything.
Also, even if he flashed the ECU, peramiteres and codes get uploaded to a cummins server every time you create a work order on Insite. So if he fucked up terribly and bricked the ECU (shut the power of mid flash of the ECU) all he would have to do is purchase a code off cummins to unlock the ECU and then re-flash it and download the perameters and shit off the server.
Good Lord you wrote a book lol Really care that much, huh?
@@djrico_5136 I love my job and like talking about it. I also like to educate people on the subject.
