The Mantattans are the whitest blackmen in the entire known universe. They wore suits and slacks, didn't have bones in their nose or anything. I think a couple of them (even in the 70s!) straightened their afro. I'm sure you can "dig" it. 🙄
I saw Patti live in the mid 80's and there was a little girl in wheel chair in the front row loving the show and a big fan. Patti saw her and had her brought up on stage, wrapped her big white boa around her and sung the song, "There's a Winner In You" to her. The whole place was crying at how touching and meaningful this was to the girl and her parents. Needless to say, there was a standing ovation after the song that lasted 3 minutes. It's always awesome to see performers just being good people and appreciating their fans. ♥
I wish the black women of today would take a page out of Patty’s style book….natural hair, classy clothing….a bit of wonder….SHE’S GORGEOUS IN ALL HER GLORY❤
Stop the madness already. Her hair isn't natural in this video. Her natural hair is an AFRO. Who exactly do Bp think they're fooling? Wp born "special"? Because only they believe your multitude of hair lies.
Michael McDonald is a MONSTER- he was in Steely Dan then a session player for Steely Dan, then the lead singer and keyboardist for the Doobie Brothers and did solos and duets like this with major R&B stars....checj out "I Keep Forgetting'" which was sampled by Nate for Regulators
This is such a great collaboration. Patti LaBelle is amazing. I just saw her perform at the Democratic Convention. She’s 80 and she still sounds incredible! Please check out “Lady Marmalade”. Another fantastic duet to check out is Linda Ronstadt and Aaron Neville singing “I Don’t Know Much” or “All My Life”. Both Grammy winners. 🌸💐✌️
Patti acted and sang in a movie called Sing back in the eighties. She sang a song called Total Concentration that you have to hear to believe. She finished that song with a note so long that I could hardly believe it! That woman has major lung capacity. ❤
A truly great song. I recall hearing Patti Labelle on a live award show a few years ago. Blew me away. I didn't know she had that powerful of a voice. I was a teen when her classic "Lady Marmalade" came out. Liked it. Who didn't, right? But I didn't follow her career, being a classic rock fan. Of course, I knew how well Michael McDonald sang due to The Doobie Brothers. Another cool reaction. Keep on r'actin .
You should def. put it on your playlist and label it Songs of tragic love gone bad! Just a thought. There would be 100's of them on my playlist of tragic love gone bad. This is just one of my very favorite songs ~ I only have about 96,570 of them on my favorites list. These two belong together vocally. I could listen to this all day on repeat, that's how much I love it!
Years ago I spent a lot of time driving from job site to job site and this song was so welcome for a long drive. It clears your head and the combination of these beautiful voices was and still is chilling. 😊
This is a song I recommended. Glad others must have recommended it to get it seen. This is one of the best duets ever. Both vocals are some of the best in the industry “ever”. Also, this is when breakup songs weren’t typically about bashing the ex like most of the songs out today especially if you have 50 ex-lovers.
Now you know. Michael McDonald is legendary vocalist and has duets with numerous other Legends. The mind-blower is that they recorded this in different locations. Patty sent her part to Michael he added his and the rest is history😳😉😌🔥
Love Michael McDonald & Patti LaBelle. Michael was everywhere in the 80’s on major artists albums, Doobie Brothers & his own music. Brings back good memories. Love your reactions.
Whew, this takes me back. Love Patti. I had this on full volume in my garage drinking a 6-pack in my garage 27 years ago, when I knew divorce and raising my daughter 1100 miles away was quickly on the horizon..
I have always loved this song from It's release, but now that I am older, I am reminded about why it was such a hit. This collaboration was perfect- two unique voices coming together to thrash this musical jewel! Great reaction tonight and thanks for the memory!🌟
The two performers were in separate cities when they recorded their individual parts, which were then "married" during mixing. This was reflected in the music video produced to promote the song, which depicted LaBelle and McDonald performing the song simultaneously on different coasts.[2] Per Wikipedia. I knew this but wanted to be sure I was right.
Michael McDonald is on another planet pure brilliance.
And he's always welcome at the cookout ..as long as he brings Kenny Loggins😂😂
Had the pleasure of seeing him perform 3 years ago and it was such an incredible experience!
He sounds black He is described as a blue-eyed soul artist
@@mztweety1374White cookout?😅
That's the real deal right there! Beautiful song and great voices coming together!! Two of the best ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He’s handsome and she’s beautiful! Great voices! Nothing quite like the two of them!
He’s handsome and she’s beautiful! Great voices! Nothing quite like the two of them!
Duets like this make my want to cry and celebrate at the same time. So beautiful!
You Don't Bring Me Flowers - Barbra Streisand / Neal Diamond
Michael McDonald, the blackest white man in music. He's definitely got some soul. Definitely check out the Manhattans
Bobby Caudwell could be the blacklist whiteman in music. IMHO

Jon B., Darryl Hall, Robin Thicke, Bobby Caldwell
One of the greatest duets of all time. They were spectacular as was the video.
i like hearing Patti’s voice described as “mystical” 🤍
He was the lead singer of the Doobie Brothers, but with talent of his he went on his own
Two iconic voices and we get one beautiful song! Love this one for a long time.
Those eyes of Michael's still make me melt, all these years later. This music still holds up, always will.

One of the greatest DUETS in Pop Music history EVER!
These two unique voices = magic together! 😊
I wish the black women of today would take a page out of Patty’s style book….natural hair, classy clothing….a bit of wonder….SHE’S GORGEOUS IN ALL HER GLORY❤
She's still stunning today. She's amazing

Yes - which reminds me that dude here hasn't even touched Steely Dan yet, has he? Or have I missed it?
He’s gotta do Peg!
This duet is wonderful. Both artists are incredibly gifted and together they made history. This will be played through the ages.
