Skynyrd was and STILL is one of my favorite southern rock bands from Jacksonville Florida next to Blackfoot, 38 special, & Molly Hatchet.
Blackfoot's "Train" is a fun song, definitely worth a listen.

The best Skynyrd songs are the ones that were inspired by true life experiences of the band members. They had some hits that were written by others but those are usually forgotten because there just isn't the passion that Ronnie put into their signature ballads. I call them ballads because under all the great guitar, piano and drum work there lies a message and passion.

I've listened to them for years but for some reason this song chokes me up every time.
I’ve tried to watch reactions to this song but I’m instantly transported, eyes closed, singing along (hoping I won’t break my throat on the high “kinda” in the chorus). Then I remember I’m watching a reaction and vow to do a better job of doing so from the next verse…..
Always listen to the "live" version of there stuff. It gets really good then.

Shinedown has a cover where they just go ham on the vocals and it is awesome, but I prefer the original, because the vocals of the original better fit the theme of simplicity. But Shinedown's cover is very pleasing to the ears.

Another song I would suggest is "Lynyrd Skynyrd - Tuesday's Gone" this song has heavy flavors of the blues, along with this song "Lynyrd Skynyrd - Ballad Of Curtis Loew with Lyrics" they are two favorites, but you really can't find a bad song from them...(ImhO) but then I'm a big fan 😏🎶💖
