Picked up an Alpanist Sunbeam Forest as my "special" watch. I love the brown! Really grew on me. Now all watches I find myself looking at are brown...including thus one
Mine arrived yesterday - I agree its not the easiest colour to pair with a strap, mines on a vintage pale leather and looks even better than the bracelet! Thanks for sharing your thoughts,
When I first saw the early pics of the watch I was hoping they had gone for a tropical dial look like the Nivada Grenchen Super Antarctica Tropical 3-6-9, which would have been phenomenal. The sunburst looks great as well though. Not a fan of the polished midlinks though. Would love to see this fully brushed on a V2 though Baltany is not known for doing follow-up versions. Well, we will see.
I’m a bracelet guy, but if Baltany starts putting their watches on bracelets, I may have to give them a shot. Just like I am biased towards Seestern over San Martin these days. And whatever happened to Cronos?! They were neck and neck with San Martin for a hot minute.
5:23 the reflection off that dial reminds me of a solar eclipse, absolutely gorgeous. And you are spot on, the 5 link really brings it all together, much nicer than the supplied 3 link.
Wish they did a different hand option to differentiate it from the explorer a little bit more. But a really strong watch. Good review, really enjoyed thank you.
Indices and hands are a good scale for the case. I like the fauxtina bit I would like to see a company bring out an Explorer homage that has lightly brushed hands and indices frames. As well as a fully brushed case and bezel, that would give it a more utilitaried look, which given it's origines would make sense. I have the PD version which is a bargain for £55 but I dont like the chrome especially on the dial.
I’m liking the brown dial the more I see it. With the fauxtina it gives it a faded from black vintage look. I agree the logo on the clasp is needed but I think they should add it to the dial as well. I will take a serious look at this one in the next sale.
Wow it's even better looking than their pictures. That fotina lume is beautiful. Love this piece, I think it looks perfect on the polished oyster. The 5 link was incredible though. Excellent choice of music for the opening, Btw.
First of all, you put out great content…thank you! I just picked one up but I hate the polished center link. I agree that it looks fantastic on the jubilee but that gap is a little too large. I was wondering if you ever found a better option. Appreciate the help
Hi steve nice colour got be a steel strap juibilee my preference classy looking watch im a watch collector i think 38 to 39 seize is sweet especially for dress watches cheers now.
Am I the only one who is not a fan of this dial? 😂 But yeah, it's a very well made watch. Like always with Baltany! The Cronos with black glossy dial is still my favorite. As always excellent review. Thanks 👍
@@alexcaamano2085 oh that is interesting! So the choice is to go NH38 with lower beat-rate but without factory date position so no ghost crown position. Or SW200 with high-beat but has ghost date. 🤔
Great review - have been looking at this in the same brown dial. You’ve convinced me to add it to my basket. The NH38 is a date-less movement from factory, so no ghost position or date disc/components to worry about… …Do you know what they are doing with the Selita SW200 option though? Are they removing the disc and position, or will that one have a ghost position? If you know that would help, else can reach out to Baltany/Octopus Kraken. All the best!
@@EscapeWheel User in comments below confirmed that their SW200 model has ghost-date position. So the choice is to go NH38 with lower beat-rate but without factory date position so no ghost crown position. Or more premium SW200 for extra $140 - with high-beat but has ghost date. 🤔
No plans for the time being. I have 2 baltany's I need to review before I can ask for another...lol Does look nice though and the 39mm size is great. I have no doubts that it's a nice and well made watch.
Only one? Probably the Cronos but only because it's black...lol. I think they are on par with each other quality wise, but the black is so versatile. And I'm not a big fan of baltany's black dial.
This is a great watch, but really, it's staying in the collection only based on the dial color. It's exactly what I wanted. But black for black, San Martin all the way
@@curiomansion-onlinemansion4568 wears thinner, better crystal, better bracelet and clasp. Again, the Baltany isn't bad at all, but the SN020 and 021 were some of my all time favorite watches from AliExpress.
£185 !!! for a (clone ?) NH38 movement ???? (already have the misfortune of owning the worlds most consistently inaccurate NH38 AD2112) Now if it was priced the same as the AD2023-1 and had the same case size and brilliant VH31 movement then I would be beating a path to their door....
I think I'm starting to like Baltany more than SM and the rest of the crowd. I'm exited to see what else they decide to do.
The dial is eye-poppingly beautiful. I hope they make some updates to the clasp, and maybe release it on a jubilee. I will probably pick it up.

the nivada is a whole different beast they are proper swiss heritage watches but I get your point

Cronos is still there. They are just slow to put out new watches.
Wow. I agree about the 5link jube, it really goes great with this one. Baltany should have released it on that
Thank you very much for the revue. The Pagani bracelet in this watch is astonishment. The perfect combo. Warm regards.
I just wish it for a little better, but I agree it looked very good on it
Nice review, what a beautiful piece, not afan with its steel bracelet (looks amazing with the jubilee instead), can't wait for the next sale 🎉
Love the dial and indexes, very well executed.
The rest is all fine
I think the dial color is beautiful and kind of unique. It should match well with dark brown leather straps
That Pagani jubilee looks great on it actually.
At 36mm this would be perfect! Love the chocolate dial. Great video Steve
Thanks, Lady
There is a 36mm now👍🏻
Iv been eying this one for a few days and now the review is out perfect timing
Hopefully Baltany will release this on a jubilee
What a beautiful watch!! This sunburst brown is so unique and goes so well with the cream numbers.. a little on the expensive side though...
Dang, I am loving that dial! Great review!

They should've used a flat sapphire, other than that I think its the best from the current crop of Explorer homages.
I'm kind of torn. I like the domed, but also would have been ok with a simple flat crystal as well 🤷

Great review as always Steve. Beautiful pieces
Brown and cream go great together.
Nice but for me the polished bracelet is to much, all brushed would suit the watch better I think..
Totally agree. Either all brushed or a nice jubilee would really make this sing. Love that dial and the nh38.
It does have a very deep colour dial looks nice
Great review 👍. I think this is the best Explorer style homage I have seen. The dial is great, 20mm lugs, perfect size and a nice crystal.
Same here.
This is hands down the best explorer homage.
I Love it
Darn, if I wasn't limiting myself to divers, I'd snatch this! The Lume application feels more uniform than SM and Cro

hi,,have you tested its water resistance??can it really withstand 200m?
First real bracelet from Baltany!
YT put a chocolate ad under this video lol
How is the thickness compared to SN021-B and AD2112? Thanks!
Is this 200m water resistance or 100m? On the dial it says 200 but in the website it says 100m? Thanks
