What a terrific watch. Again, I hope Baltany starts expanding their catalog because they can probably give San Martin some serious competition. Thanks for the great review!
I own a real Explorer, and had a few more, this is lovely and Ive owned a few Baltany's just wish the watch hands had a bit more curve like the original, so they dance in the light, might buy this anyway as I love dial colour
Grear review! I got my 39mm Baltany Explorer delivered three days ago. I'm the middle of moving house and have had the watch on every single minute, banged the crystal against door knobs and the likes in the process, and not any marks or scuffs so far. 😇 I can confirm that they have made the changes to the 39mm version regarding the bracelet and the signed crown. I have no way of telling if they made any changes to the crystal, but it is in my opinion flawless. I have 19,5 cm wrists, so the 39mm version feels like a great fit for me, even if I might pick up the 36mm in the black dial as a companion sometime later.
Baltany produce excellent watches, for the money. This looks like it's up to their usual high standard. That dial colour is killer. Great review, as always !!
I’m Not really a fan of Explorer homages but when I saw this dial I liked it. Bought it in the recent anniversary sale and needless to say it was love at first sight. The crystal is crazy good and my god that dial is great. Loved the review as always Steve
Thanks for sharing. Great looking watch. I wanted to buy this watch but after seeing it on a 7.5 inch wrist which i feel is already too small, it won't look good on my 8.5 wrist. Saves me the trouble of buying and returning it. Too bad because i do like the watch. Thanks again for sharing.
I wear a Rolex Date Just for my weekend daily and a Baltany field as my work daily. I like both but the use of top hat crystals on the Baltany and other homages confuses. A flat crystal is thinner and reduces chances of bangs.
I received mine last week, and so happy with the purchase. I paid top dollar (£210 / $270) to use their own UK ordering site, but still worth every penny. It has settled down to -5 seconds per day and I agree they do seem to regulate them.
Seems like a pretty solid movement. I'm just waiting for my 36mm brown color that I've managed to get for €165 / £138 two days ago from the recent AliExpress sales. Pretty happy with that.
I was hesitating on this during the AliExpress sale last month because I couldn't decide on the colour. Your review might eventually sway me to this Chocolate as I've already too many black dials anyway. Hope another sale comes by around soon!
I LOVE that dial color! I have a 39mm Tisell Explorer which is probably in my top 5 watches. I have a couple lesser 39mm Explorer-ish watches and a few 36mms. Definitely prefer the 39mm for a main watch. I probably won't buy one of these but damn that dial color!
I really like the dial color. I think I might get the 39mm version since 36mm is definitely too small for me. I’m pretty sure I watched your review on the 39. Do you have an affiliate link for that one?
As soon as saw the first 39mm version released i bought it. I went for the brown dial version and i absolutely love it. Such a beautiful watch. I have a 7" wrist and it fits lovely however I really think the 36mm would fit me better. If only they had released them at the same time!!! 😳 Can I justify having 2 of the same watch??? Although I'd go for the black dial version. Also, I kinda prefer the polished center links on the 39mm version, but would also appreciate the signed crown and clasp, maybe a bit of mixing and matching if I do get another 😂👍
I really like that, but i think that for a brand like Baltany it would be much more appropriate to homage such as the traditional 1016 with updated specifications at low prices. Maybe they're going that path, just building safe releases along the way.
As always Baltany makes a watch with an excellent crystal. I really wish Baltany and other watch companies would offer a Sterile/Anonymous Dial option and a unsigned crown. I prevent scratching or damaging my watches, I use a Bergeon Inflatable Ball to open most of my watches with screwed-in casebacks.
Steve, hey brother it's AmericanChees3. Any chance or you reviewing the new octopus explorer? Keep up the good work. I always look forward to your videos
I was wondering the same question because I just bought a 1751 for $55.00. It's the most beautifully simple watch I've ever held. Keep looking with a loupe but I cannot find imperfection.
Don’t get the fauxtina on the current design. Maybe on brown dial, not black. Also, San Martin’s version with the PT5000 is thinner, which suits the 36mm diameter.
Agree with all your points. I think BGW9 with gold hands/indices would have been a good option for both color ways. The San Martin is still my favorite, but it's $100 more than this one, and the PT5000 isn't for everyone.
It's definitely the most well done homage of this type that has been reviewed recently however does anyone else notice that the bracelet and the watch case don't match very well. It doesn't ruin it for me but I have definitely seen better at this price point. Sorry if that is nit picking.
what do you think about the bezel, is it wider than the san martin sn021/020 ? on some angle the bezel looks really wide for a 36mm sized watch. great video reviews as always.
I'm currently undecided between the Baltany with the nh38 or the Cronos also 36mm . I could stretch my budget for the sw200 one but I think I like the looks more of the Baltany. How about overall quality, bracelet, etc, anyone? Thanks in advance.
@@jmlaso brown looks amazing. Black is more traditional and versatile. I think the brown looks better and offers something the Rolex doesn't, but it won't get AS much use simply due to the color.
@@EscapeWheel Baltany agrees for an exchange. The watch is a real beauty, love them; company says it’s a faulty caliber. Probably yes, faulty Japanese caliber…. Anyway, Baltany is extremely cooperative
So if this watch said Rolex on the dial, everyone would be grabbing torches and pitchforks while screaming for justice and stake-burning! But remove that little detail and everything's hunky-dory. Jesus...
It's a watch. It tells time. Round cases are round cases. Dials are dials. It's been like that since watches were invented. Did Rolex copy someone else's design? Probably. @@kennethg9277 Yeah, they must do 😂. Don't think they realise that when a horse dies its body is used for everything from dog food to leather. Just how it is.
Very glad to see them use the NH38.
The attention to detail is exceptional, hope to see them take a shot at making a Laurel Alpinist homage next.
