- I found a way to source a chinese super clone of a ref#126600 Seadweller single red for use as a point of comparison to grey market options available for this same ref# as a method of verifying that a grey market Rolex is authentic based on the fact that I can I.D. specific differences between the grey market model for sale and this known chinese super clone of the same ref#
Rolex may as well have the Chinese clone makers produce their watches, since they are that good these days.
I suspect that more than half of the second hand market dealers are selling these clone Rolex watches and are clueless because nowadays even the experts are being fooled.
Bottom line; don't bother with Rolex; they don't care about the customer. Screw them.
But definitely don't bother with a Rolex clone. Replica watches are trash for trashy people.

How often do you actually get compliments on your watch? I own a real Rolex Sub as well as several other high end watches. The only time anyone ever noticed the watch on my wrist was my Speedmaster, and that's only because they liked the NATO strap...

Rolex movements are not handfinished.It's all machine finishing - extremely well done though.
The problem with a real rolex is that everyone thinks its fake!!

Just buy from a reputed dealer instead of trying to become an authentication authority yourself. You can get scammed in so many ways - real cases with fake movements, fake cases with real movements, fake dials, super replicas that are different from the one you have etc. etc. don't waste money supporting these counterfeiters with your purchase.

I am an amateur watch repair enthusiast and owner of a 16600. I bought it new from an AD in 1994. ( the good old days) With the level of production achieved with
" fake " Rolex today, i would be hard pressed to purchase from anyone other than an AD. Thanx for sharing and i anxiously await part 2.
The very fine print on the dial is usually blurry in a fake. Rolex printing is sharp under magnification.
If u ever handle a genuine modern Rolex watch, u will find the bracelet clasp closures are very smooth with a satisfying feel to it. The crown screw in and out actions are smooth and the hands and date changing are precise with very little free-play. The outside and dial aesthetic of the watch you can hardly find any defects but the main weakness lies with movement and its quality (or lack of it)
Wear the fake and enjoy it! you saved a ton of money!

Two things to look for with a loop is screws in the bracelet still hard to get right. Also compare the box with a original even the smell of the box will be different.

White tag hue looks grayish. Should be a bright white. The model and serial number warranty card lettering is off as well. Inside the box the imprinted Rolex logo is off. Also I noticed that it brought you to the German Rolex website and your phone did the auto translation. Unless this watch was manufactured for that market I think that would also be a giveaway . The card is not meant to bring you to your specific model but rather to the Rolex website so that’s ok.

Why don't Rolex just set up a blockchain verification for each serial number? Legitimate owners would have the private key to proof the authenticity of each watch
I have the VS Factory version and it’s amazing. Impossible to tell the difference.
A couple of slip ups they made , extra cloth in the box etc, white tag indicates large box but it's a medium . I wouldn't waste my money personally
I plan on purchasing the same model when I retire in a couple years. Your video brings up some valid points that would apply to buying a grey market piece. I dont think finding a sea dweller would be that difficult to find at an AD. Like them or not at least there wont be any questions regarding authenticity.

Buy yourself a timegrapher ( it functions as a movement cardiogram sorts) and see how it performs at keeping time. It also shows the health and quality of the movement in different positions. No need to open the watch right away. It's the accuracy that sets watches apart, real or fake and then you'll know for sure. It will be interesting to see and then decide how much watch you get for your money, because it maybe shockingly close in its performance. Nice watch though !
Rolex doesn't hand finish their movements. The balance wheel adjustment screws are the best way to check the best replicas against a real one. They will likely be missing on the fake. The best fakes can actually swap 90% of the movement components with a real one... but very few go to the trouble of getting the balance wheel right.
Agree. The free sprung balance wheel is the only thing the super clones have not faked...yet.. The rest of the movements are pretty spot on. Without removing the back you can fool 99% of watch makers on the best super clones
The paint drying on his wall was much more riveting! A vastly cheaper Casio will be more reliable and accurate. You don't have to worry if it's a fake either.

Immediately, when you pulled out the box and took off the sleeve, I could tell the watch was a replica, because Rolex is not going give you a damage box on each end Rolex is on the perfection side, not only that you can tell the corners of the box is not made properly so once you get one red flag, you pretty much know the rest another thing I noticed on the warranty card holder. The stitching was sloppy. That’s another thing you can check for now the watch looks awesome but those little things I just talked about are red flags other than that it would be hard to tell you’re 100% correct

The packaging is a waste of money if you are buying a fake, it still won’t fool an experienced watch dealer.
Look here. You don't even have to open the watch to identify a super clone. Get a 10X magnification loupe and move the minute hand on top of the hour hand and use the hour hand as a mirror to see the back of the minute hand. As of Dec 2023 the super clones still have an unpolished rough surface on the back of the minute hand. Plus, if you also look carefully at the hand’s edges with the same loupe, the edges need to be razor sharp. If you see any irregularities on any of the edges that is a clone. The edges are the clone’s main giveaway. And I can still find many other defects without opening the watch or have authentic Rolex next to me for comparison. Plus, Rolex keep a serial number database for cross reference as well.
Regarding the serial number database that Rolex keeps for cross reference, I suppose that is something that only Rolex has access to, right?

As a work of imitation art, this Seadweller superclone is more impressive than the original. Rolex's are judged on their own horological and design merits. The superclone has another goal altogether, to exactingly a replicate a Rolex. It does so with aplomb.
Put it on a timegrapher and see how well it's regulated in 4 or 5 positions.
Great set up, now takeoff the back to see how that movement looks.

Everything is off. Take a black light to the warranty card also. Fonts off on card, bag it came in is off, the card holder is off. Sound of the bezel is off. You need to pull a loop on the font also. Need to look at the finishing on the hands. There is many ways to tell. The finishing on the crown, cut on the bezel etc..
There is only one way to know without jumping through hoops, and that is AD bought. 2 now, and only peace of mind
Opening the watch and looking at the parts isn’t going to insure it’s a Rolex. Some of the super clones are just that good. If you’re willing to pay to have that watch verified reach out to me. It’s a service I’ve provided to clients many times. Third party verification is definitely the way to go. The evaluator doesn’t have an interest in the outcome.

I think you haters have missed the point. Some clones are so good that to the untrained eye, it's impossible to tell. If you don't have a genuine Rolex model to compare it with. Some clone makers even use parts of Rolex movements to further complicate matters. Sure the level of finishing on the movement doesn't compare to genuine Rolex, but there are watches on the market right now that make the guys on 47th St NYC shake their heads.
When you think about it... Each generation is better again...The next generation will be better than the actual Rolex...
