Garcelle just broke my heart into a million pieces, oh my God. This is such a real situation for so many people.
The mistake that I will never make again is dimming my own light so that others can shine, for years I’ve done that & the outcomes have been terrible because I wasn’t knowing my full potential and I was showing the darkest parts of myself.

Which leaves me wondering why some dads don't just reconnect with their kids much as they're not in good terms with their ex.
Why not spare your kids and show them love as you battle it out with their mother(s) ? ...then they're left hurting and blaming themselves ?

@@kawiramucheke ikr. A child is left wondering if they were loved by their dad. And that's deep because she has obviously had to deal with it for the longest time. I am grateful to God my dad tells me he loves me all the time. Sometimes I wonder if he really knows my name because he is always like darling, sweetheart. Grateful 🙏

I should've left school sooner. Spent 3 years trying to bag a degree I knew I didn't like, in a field I don't like. I ended up with depression but no degree. Now that I'm starting over and enrolling for a course that I like, I wish I was brave enough to be honest to myself in my first year and leave. I'm happier now❤️
🤗 I can absolutely relate. I have 3+4 years (separate intervals) where I forced things that never came to fruition and ended up with horrible depressive episodes. All these are lessons I guess. Wishing you well with all your endeavours.
This what I’m going through right now, expect I’m doing a degree apprenticeship which means I’m a full time student and full time employee at a field that I hate, I go to work crying before shift almost daily now. I hope that I get the courage to leave and I hope there light at the end of the tunnel

I'm on my period and this conversation made me wail lol. No one ever tells you about how crucial timing is when you're young, but i always believe that every soul on earth is meant to experience certain pain and miss out on certain experiences BUT that is what EXACTLY shapes our path and how our story is meant to play out when we leave.

Ladies don't blame not seeing your dad on yourself or take it too hard. We tend to want to bond with people/ family who have transitioned to the extreme when they are no longer in the physical. So take it as a lesson for the ones who are with you in your daily not to take them for granted.

One mistake that I made in the past that I would never want to repeat is giving too much of myself, my heart, my soul, my love...to someone and not leaving anything for myself. Basically, making another human being the centre of my universe. I would never make that mistake again.
Same. My top 3 mistakes have been with guys that I deeply regret and think about often. It eats at me constantly and the regret grows with time. If I could change the past, I wish I never met those guys.
Garcelle, I had tears in my eyes as I looked into yours. I fully understand. My relationship with my father was broken for thirty years. The story is long, but we reconnected when I was 38 years old. I shook at the thought of forgiveness and actually talking with him. But with the Lord dealing with my heart, the anger and my pride, I reluctantly talked with my father and forgave. Day by day our relationship is healing and growing. Now, here I am never known how to love him as a child,, I can say as an adult I love him. Thank you Garcelle, for sharing. You are beautiful and inspiring. ❤

It actually makes me think on a general level like no matter your tax bracket, high class , lower class , race you are , what gender, what age … we all have things that we sometimes in hindsight when you look back on it… you realize you took for granted because it’s like well when is the right time and the time… it feels like a good decision or soemthing that needed to happen ! But then because of the unknown and what you do know now… you almost wonder “ what could I have done differently “ not to say the choice you made is a mistake but it simply was a choice and if you could go back and see if the grass was truly greener you would take the chance a second time to see how it would affect your future up to the point you are now ! Cause & Effect truly is something mind blowing I tell you ! ♥️🙏🏾

I will never let someone pull the rug out from under me again. In the past there have been times where I have put trust in someone and they've disappointed me and left me in a very vulnerable spot that was tough to climb out of. So, not too long ago, I made a promise to myself, God, and my father (who died when I was young) that I would never allow myself to be put in that position again.
They better not cancel, the Real is the realest and best it's ever been.

You can date someone long distance, but until you live with them, or at the very least spend a lot of time with them in person, you don't really know them.

Garcelle got my eyes watery on this one. It’s interesting that a bit of what each of these ladies said I can relate to in some way. I’m actually 29 now and that bit Adrienne shared is helpful because I never thought of freezing my eggs. But I will now consider it.

I can definitely relate to Gracelle in a few ways. When I was 15, my dad was diagnosed with Schizophrenia at the age of 38. For many years, I struggled with his diagnosis because I didn’t understand how he developed it, why this was happening to my dad, and it was difficult to comprehend how the jovial, funny, and energetic dad that I grew up with was suddenly deteriorating mentally so rapidly. The last time he and I spoke, we were arguing and I lashed out and said horrible things to him. During the argument, he responded with, “Why do you hate me so much?” 💔 He ended up passing away shortly after that argument took place, and I’ll never be able to take the hurtful words that I said back, I’ll never be able to emphasize how much I love him, or thank him for being a wonderful dad, or provide reassurance that it was never him that I hated - much of my anger and hatred was directed toward the mental illness that took my dad away. I still feel immense guilt and shame. Grief doesn’t get easier, and I think about him every second of everyday. I pray that one day, I can find healing, and I also pray that his soul is resting peacefully.
One day you WILL find healing ❤
