Adrienne has also perfected herself recently...ie.believe COVID has given her... THE TIME... working from home ...to maybe take online courses...for growth and self improvement/ development! Those two I would miss the most! The other ladies as well! Loni is like a best friend/neighbor u would like to have in your corner. Garcelle is not that deep for me ... I agree with Jeannie. While having a baby is a big change for men as well, it shouldn’t be called the same thing. Hormones are wild during pregnancy and postpartum. I had my first baby 8 months ago and I just remember the first two weeks crying out of nowhere everyday. And I definitely experienced the postpartum anxiety. It’s hard and as much as men will be there and help out …it is not the same.

Men dont have postpatrum depression they just have depression. Postpatrum depression is about women who suffer from depression due to hormonal changes BECAUSE of child birth. That isnt the same as the depression men AND women get due to a change of routine.

I agree with Jeannie. Post partum depression is hormonal, so men don't have those hormones or those imbalances due to giving birth. I believe men can have depression/anxiety associated with/after the birth of a baby. Im no doctor, but it seems weird they'd have the same issues. Call it something different, because I think it may be slightly different...maybe same symptoms, but different source of cause.

    • @conyaandrews7792
      @conyaandrews7792 2 года назад +14

Hormones are affected by the stress, not the actual birthing of the child. The stressors are the same(worrying about raising a human😊), thus the same outcome. I have not been around a male who experienced this close to me, but I feel it can be truly the same.

@@conyaandrews7792 Stress can be a factor that increases the risk of PPD but it is not a “cause” because it is not always a factor. Currently, science does not know the clear cause of PPD but the thought is that it is a combination of environmental (which includes stress) and biological factors. Jeannie was saying the men don’t have those biological factors but they can have the same environmental factors. There are even studies about genetic predictors involved that a person is born with that make them more prone to PPD (John Hopkins Medicine).

Postpartum depression is the real deal. I remember hearing my daughter that was right next to me cry. I would just watch her cry and she sounded really far away, almost muffled. I also felt like everyday was like a cloud over me. Like I wasnt there idk how to explain it. I didn’t eat or shower and most of my day I wanted to be in my bed alone. I had a four year old as well and I wasn’t the same with her either. I didn’t want to hold my girls or do anything at all. Thank god for my husband and that it only lasted a couple of weeks. After it had passed I remember holding her and saying I was sorry. Sorry for not picking her up when all she needed was her mamas touch, sorry for not wanting to shower her or feed her, sorry for staying up crying because I felt guilt but I couldn’t get out of it. It’s been five years since then and she’s my whole life and we are extremely close. I’m obsessed with my girls. ❤️ but I still feel guilty sometimes. Like if it was my fault for not being the best mom right off the bat. I did experience postpartum anxiety with my first child. I just didn’t know what that was. Ther explained to me that she was fine that she was just being admitted to the NICU for observation. I remember them saying I could go see her but I didn’t want to. In my head I thought she was going to die in my arms. I totally freaked myself out. Felt shaken, light headed, sweaty palms and like I couldn’t breath. So much stuff ran through my mind. I had lost touch with god a while back and I remember praying and saying god if you give me the strength to get up and see my girl I swear I will pray everyday. The next day I woke up and showered and walked into that NICU like if nothing ever happened and I didn’t leave her side only to shower and stuff but I would stay over night on that cold recliner. Both occasions were one of the scariest things I’ve ever had to go through mentally. So much so that I tied my tubes because I felt it was getting worst with each child I had. I will tell you that when I refused to see my child at the NICU there was a therapist that came to see me. She came everyday to the NICU and even called me when I took my baby home to make sure I was feeling ok. She came to check on me at my house once too but for my second child I had to tell my OBGYN what I was feeling and she saw me twice a week and referred me to a therapist. Always talk to your doctors please cause thanks to God, the doctors and my husband I got out of that depression each time. Postpartum is so different for woman Please call it something else for the men. It’s not the same.

I remember always fearing for something bad to happen, and every time my baby cried it gave me severe anxiety that would lead to me crying as well, because it always seemed like something was wrong with him or I wasn’t doing something right. I barely slept and I just really wasn’t myself, nothing made me happy until I went back to work and started living my “old life” again. Good stuff…this is the most “real” discussion I’ve seen on this show in a minute. Adrienne and Jeannie thank you so much for sharing such personal information. I went through both IVF and post partum anxiety. It’s real but with the right support it also passes with time.

It's so annoying when people are trying to talk about themselves and then Adrienne just interrupts and starts talking about herself. She does that a lot. And I love how Loni always at the end gets back to that person and ask them if they're okay and how they're doing now because she understands that that person got interrupted...

I really think she’s coming from a place of “I understand a bit, this is my experience” some people appreciate that in the casual convo. I know this is a show but some of my closest friends make me feel normal in times when I feel crazy when they tell me a similar experience that they’ve gone through or that made them feel the way I do.

@Kristina I'm sure Adrienne means well. She's letting the other person know that it's ok because she's going through the same thing. I like it when my friend do this and I don't feel alone. It's very encouraging and relief for people to share their story and be able to relate.

    • @lstarsabb

But what Adrienne said was relevant to the conversation she would know what Jeannie is feeling hormonal wise and keep in mind Adrienne was going through that process alone so I think she was just excited to know someone gets it.

She needs to learn to let someone finish and then talk. I had to learn that to. Sometimes people want to be heard first and understood and then you can comment or not say anything at all. Not everything is a "I've been through that too" moment. That's how you learn to be a good friend.

Anxiety is as real as real gets!! And what’s even scarier is that you’ll never truly understand THIS type of anxiety until it hits you. But good thing is that you can always overcome. Knowledge and understanding the central nervous system and the mechanisms of anxiety alone gets you half way there

I experienced debilitating postpartum anxiety after I had my son; and until I knew that’s what it was, I felt lost, hopeless and drowning in my own mind. I wish I had the info then, that I do now. I hope somebody struggling finds this clip and gets the help they need.

Postpartum anxiety information is out there if one does the research and ask more questions when making office visit they would be prepared for what to expect, if at all. Many women rely on what other women experience which is okay but, nothing is like doing the research yourself because everyone is different.

Love Jeannies realness. I hate they would cancel this show. All the views they get and the impact they make, what would make them go this route. This show needs to stay on air. A lot of women with anxiety probably were diagnosed with post partum depression. I definitely believe men do go through changes as well. I guess it's a time for mom and dad to be understanding and pull closer to one another. Because life is changing.

My husband experienced grief after the birth of our child. He grieved for missing milestones and bonding time for going back to work. Maybe we can call it grief for men? It stems from a bigger issue that the USA doesn’t guarantee paid parental leave, let alone maternity leave compared to other countries. It’s absolutely crazy. I’m so glad Jeannie mentioned postpartum anxiety as well. such a great conversation! I’ll miss this show immensely!

I had postpartum depression and anxiety with both of my oldest kids. I was able to get out of it both times. It was scary, dark and isolating.
I wanted a 3rd. But I was afraid I’d get ppd and anxiety again. So for 4.5 years, I really worked on healing my body and got my nutrition stores up. I let my body truly recover from my 2 back to back pregnancies. I worked on my mental health as well.
And I am so happy to say that I did not get it again with my third baby. Had my first home birth with him too. It was healing.
I see you Jeannie. It’s a dark dark place. It will get better. You’re doing the work. Proud of you for going to a psychiatrist. There is light just around the corner.
    Much love ladies.

    One of the best clips/episodes.
There are sooo many moms out there with anxiety. I think my Mom and I even share the anxiety b/c we're worriers. My anxiety shows up like Jeannie's sweaty palms, heart beating in my ear, mouth goes dry, voice sometimes cracks like I'm about to cry but there are any real tears. With my Mom it's lack of sleep, negative thoughts, nightmares, and just a sinking feeling of something bad could happen.
Thank you for talking about this🙏🏾💙
Fear and anxiety are such thives of joy, really glad Jeannie is getting the help needed to get through this new journey in life.

I wouldn't advise doing that but it did get better with time and once I started getting more consistent sleep. It took 2 years with my first and around 1 year with my second.
