  • Miura Golf COO Bill Holowaty tells you everything you need to know about the new KM-700 irons.
Our newest model epitomizes Katsuhiro Miura’s endless pursuit of perfection. While drawing on 65 years of design excellence, Miura-san also nurtured the input of the talented Miura craftsmen. The result is a model so special, you can find his personal Hanko stamp each iron. The KM-700.
Miura irons are highly regarded for their ability to deliver performance on off center hits. The KM-700 has taken this to another level. The innovative toe-cut grind works in concert with the hosel / heel to optimize the center of gravity position, effectively producing a larger “sweet spot”. The toe-cut grind is also visible on the sole. It delivers a stable head, optimized impact loft, and unparalleled turf interaction all while promoting a return to square at impact. This revolutionary club head design will benefit golfers of all levels.

I just received my KM700s! I don’t usually believe market hype on the performance, etc….I currently own a few sets of irons including Titleist T150s and Mizuno Pro 221s, but having lived in Japan and looking to play something different, unique, hand made and gorgeous. So, bought the KM700s…just finished doing some head to head testing and I’m absolutely impressed how well they perform. They aren’t as long as the T150s (lofts are weaker by 1 degree so I didn’t expect them to be - about 3-5 yards shorter), but they are longer than the MP221s but 3-5 yards (they are 1 degree stronger). In terms of feel, they felt very similar to the MP221s. When hit head to head, you can feel the help you get from the T150s (which isn’t bad, just different). BUT, where they distinguish from the other two is the consistency…across the board from PW to 5 iron the KM700’s standard deviation for ball speed was 1.0mph!! The T150 was 3mph and the MP221s were 2.5mph…that was with 20 shots each with 9 iron and 6 iron…Already eying the MB101!!!

Seeing these has just made my decision making process for my next set of irons that much more difficult. Mizuno Pro 223, Titleist T100S, and now these. Oh the dilemma of it all.

I definately fall in love with these irons. Really great looking irons in an extraordinary quality. If Miura-san were a musician I would say "He has the groove!". Now I say " He makes golf clubs to a state of the art and like an art itself!". The fascination will go on Miura-san, thanks so much.

I just received my new PI 401 , They look amazing. When I picked them up at PGA store today I tried them out.9,8,6 I hit perfect distances and accurate, 4,5,7 new work. I never received a booklet or anything in the box telling me loft degrees for clubs why ? or anything and I opened the box myself.

One of my biggest regrets will always be never being fitted by Miura San. It Annoys me that some people (some RUclipsrs) have and didn’t play the clubs for more than a few months if at all. If you’re listening Miura San, I’d love to get personally fit with you and discuss Grinds, beveling, shaping.

I highly doubt Miura is watching RUclips videos, let alone reading the comments. But, if this is that important to you, fly to Japan and take a stack of cash. You will get your wish.

This head design has some striking similarities to Ben Hogan's design. His design came from his imagination, and in those days, I suspect, testing basically meant hitting balls to validate or discredit the design.
This design seems like it might be a matter of great minds thinking alike. However, I expect that testing is very much more involved today. Letting my imagination run, it seems that club head design involves physics calculations and computer simulations, as well as (robot) hitting and data analysis. Maybe you could make a video about the "science" of this design?
