Hey Guys, I’m Alex Etches and I’m a golf professional and product reviewer. If you don’t know me, I started playing golf at 10 years old, turned professional at 22 in the UK, and have been creating entertaining and informative golf content on different platforms for the last 10 years. My home is now AUSTRALIA and I hope to take you around some of the best golf courses from down under.
On this channel, you can expect many fun reviews and videos. From testing out some crazy golf clubs to the latest product releases which includes TaylorMade, Callaway, Cobra, Mizuno, Titleist, and many more...
I also do lots of traveling and will bring you along the journey with me. With Golf Vlogs from the UK, US, and many other locations it never gets boring on tour with #TEAMAL!
Anyway, enough about me - If you’re new to the channel, or have been with #TEAMAL for a while, write a message down in the comment section and say Hi!
Guys....T-U-L-I-P, as in the flower! 😂
Just remember Al, it's not what you say, it's HOW you say it LOL
Next time can you please show us what these clubs look like at ADDRESS We saw the back of them a million times but next time you review clubs can you please pull out the pitching wedge through four iron and just let us see what they look like at address. We need to know what they look like cuz that's what we're looking down at
You’re one of the few golf youtubers who consistently talk about Miura irons. They are works of art
Miura is stuning golf iron👍👍💪🏻
We absolutely need a course blog , we also need you in the Sim with these .. just more Al x Muira Golf content
Miura*
notice how Al doesnt need something to be spelled correctly to love the comment.
@@golfdoctorphd 😂 ah sure, there’s always one 🙄
And does not seem to care you asked for a blog, not a vlog either.
Al X Muira Golf
Planning on just buying four of these irons. The 4 iron, 6,8 and PW, for solo golf.
Me, the course, Muira irons, a Titleist Pro v ball in white, with traditional putter. All carried in a canvas pencil bag.
Potentially hipster golf, yes but very much golfing Zen like experience.
No scorecard required.
Deep golfing joy.
Al x Muira Golf. I would love to see the making of these beautiful irons. Whether it be knives or golf irons, the Japanese are masters of forging metallurgy and true craftsmen.
Could you do an iron test look for the best "feeling" iron. Miura, Mizuno, Honma, PXG, Titleist, etc., etc. Granted, it would be based on what you feel. But, you have a following and you are a golfer. People would listen and respect your opinion. Just a suggestion. Keep up the great content.
Miura
That would all be personal preference.
Very late into golf (mid 50s}… 2 years in - 20 HC. Loved golf. Researched and then Miura brought up Passing Point irons - for the higher handicap player. Got fitted - by Precison Golf (Chertsey) - totally brilliant clubs & fitters. Then… needed to replace my very good Taylormade Burner driver & woods. Had a dream one night - all I remembered was one word: “Honma’. No clue. I talked to my local Pro who said: “If you’re going for a Honma fitting, I’m coming too.” Ended up being fitted for driver, FW woods & rescue. Perfect set-up. Ten years later, I upgraded my set: latest Honma Beres woods etc & Miura 401s again via Precision Golf. Absolutely stunning. My problem is this: Do NOT wait until you retire. I’m far from well-off but I chose to spend on these clubs late in life only because I took up golf late/ My advice to you is this: don’t go on holiday for a year or two (as I did) and if you love golf, get the Miura irons & wedges. They’re just a pure joy to hit. The Beres? Terrific for people in my age bracket.
I game Honma TW747V irons, and I can tell you that the feel of a Japanese iron is just magical.
There is a special purity about these clubs.
I’ve owned and played almost everything else; Ping, PXG, Titleist, Cobra, Wilson, Callaway, etc, but my Honma irons are my all time favorite.
For several years back in 2008-2017 when I was playing daily (weather permitting) I’d visit thrift stores and when I saw a complete set of old clubs I’d buy them and put a new set of Golf Pride grips on them before every hitting balls with them so my first impression of swing feel and how more importantly how the momentum of the takeaway and downswing caused the face to swing open and back closed as a gate.
The way the physics works the more toe bias the club head has the more it tries to rotate around the hosel. The twisting force is considerable. Back in the days of hickory clubs the biggest variable due to each shaft being different was how much the gate affect twisted the shafts open swinging back, producing a snap back closed in the downswing just before impact as the built-up torque was released. Golfers needed to learn to compensate with wrist action. Golfers in the 1800s would drag the toe backwards on the ground like a rudder then swing it around slowly with wrist action so as not to twist the shaft. If you have ever seen a trick shot artist swing a club which as head connected to grip with a rope or chain they use that same drag backwards technique.
I actually made a club like that to understand the cause and effect. Once you get the rope or chain pulled tight if you turn it with wrist action slowly the face moves the same amount as the hands just as if the shaft was solid but jerk the hands back too fast and the inertia of the club head mass causes it to lag and close in the backswing. It taught me to recognize what the face was doing based on how I felt the how the club was trying to twist open and closed when I swung my normal metal shafted clubs and that is the point I started feeling the difference between sets and what was causing the difference.
Karsten Solheim’s huge contribution to golf was understanding that ideally the face should automatically stay square to the swing arc of the head but Bulleye putters and irons back in the 1960s would swing open and closed instead. The solution? Fiddle with the distribution of the mass from toe to sole until there was no feeling of the toe of the club trying to twist the club in the hands. The result of that experimentation were PING EYE irons and the 1-A and Anser putters which made consistently bringing the face back square as ball releases off of it more automatically consistent. There was no sensation of the force acting on the mass in the toe trying to twist the club in the hands so the golfer’s subconscious brain didn’t try to steer it back to target by feel! That is a boon for the beginner golfer trying to master hitting consistently straight shots and also makes it easier for the advanced golfer who is intentionally opening and closing the face at address to hit fades and draw better feel how those adjustments affect the feel of how the club tries to twist.
Once I got to that level of understanding sensory feedback from the toe orientation I could feel the difference between swinging with face set for fade or draw vs. a straight set up and more importantly when the feel for an intended draw or fade wasn’t how it should feel and at that point knowing it wasn’t going to fly as planned. I realized that was what Arnold Palmer meant in his book when saying that if the first 18 inches of the takeaway felt “right” he was confident the shot would fly as planned. Why? because unless a golfer reflexively (subconsciously) steers the club (because it doesn’t feel right) the mass distribution and laws of physics will swing it open in the backswing then back slightly open at impact then dead square as the compressed ball releases off the face.
I've been playing miura CB 201 since the late 90's. I played scatch for 20 + years. I've gotten older (in my 60's now) and I can't hit them as far as I used too! Time for me to get into new technology and get a new set. I'll get my swing evaluated 1st. Then probably get this set! Thanks for the review!

Would love to see the factory!
Japan has quite a bit of small brands that forge their own irons, putters, and wedges with some really unique designs and clean looks but none seem to quite hold up to just how nice miura does it. Al x Miura would love to see you visit them and maybe even do a vlog at one of the many beautiful courses over there with their clubs while there.
Al x Miura Golf. Beautiful-looking clubs
Let's go to Japan!!! I want to see how this beautiful is build! Al x Muira Golf

Al x Muira Golf. These golf clubs seems to be almost perfect. Great review, no grat experience, as usual !
Yes, please on the course vlog and a trip to Japan! Al x Miura Golf! I love the looks of this club. Unfortunately, I would have to sell my Miura PI-401s and MC-501s just to be able to afford the KM-700s in the shaft/grip combo that I prefer. My wife has already said No to that although she agrees they are gorgeous.
At $2880 US dollars I can see why your wife would say no. They are sweet looking though. My wife lets me get away with an occasional club as long as I find a good deal and have a plausible reason. But she would say hell no to these lol.
@@kevinwood1722 Actually, with the specs I applied on the Miura website they priced out at $3346 USD for 4-PW. I spoke to my Miura dealer today and he said he was told to order more MC-501 heads now if he wanted them as it was being discontinued. He stopped short of saying the KM-700 was the replacement but that was the indication. The KM-700s won’t be shipping until November as I understand it. My 501s are in for reshafting as I’m moving from X-Stiff to Stiff but the heads are good for a few more years.
Alex, what shafts do you have in the KM700's? I had mine made +0.5" and they came in at D-7 swing weight. What SW are you using? Thanks
Al x Muira golf
Love your work Al
Keep it up
Al x Muira golf for friggin sure!! Absolutely incredible

I play Miuras and you're right, it doesn't really matter where the ball goes lol. I'm 20hc and on the odd occasion I hit the ball pure the sound and the flight makes having them all worthwhile. Plus looking at them lingeringly when they go back into the bag.
