Rural Japan is home to Katsuhiro Miura, who's also referred to as Hands of God. Miura has built a reputation as one of the finest golf iron forgers in the world, and some rumor he was the maker of the clubs Tiger Woods used during his best years.
In this adventure, Erik takes part in a one-of-kind iron fitting session and factory tour from Miura himself, while learning exactly what sets them apart.
Adventures in Golf takes you around the world to places you'd never think golf would exist.
From the slums of Mumbai to a Louisiana prison, no adventure is too gnarly for host Erik Anders Lang. Watch for the golf, stay for the adventure.
Highlighting golf's fun, weird, and ridiculous side.
Skratch is the home of Adventures In Golf with Erik Anders Lang, pranks, challenges, Boo vs Beef, as well as collaborations with the one and only DJ Steve Porter.

@Strad 4321 When I had my Custom fitting done at Kenneth Smith in Shawnee Mission Kansas 28 years ago , he did the same thing . Just put a club in my hands and I hit the ball , he watched everything and then he would keep switching until I was hitting that blade pure !
I still have them and play them when I feel like I am hitting the ball well , as they are magic when you're playing well .
I payed $210 a club ( set of 8 irons ) way back then and people didn't bash them like they do with very high end clubs built today , just because they can't afford a set . But when you pay that much money they last a LONG time and are worth it !

Erik, I believe this video is above and beyond your best work. This video solidifies your thesis that golf is a game that bridges generations, melts cultures, and quite literally forges a world that is centered around the experiences we all have from a game which connects us all.

    • @solidtank7957
      @solidtank7957 4 года назад

@matty burrows But in the general parlance today, irons are either cavity back or blades. I don't think most people will agree that the MB-101 are not blades simply because of the method of fabrication. Their MC-501 are absolutely cavity backs and they describe them as such.

I spent quite a lot of time in Japan over the years. Miura-san has a real 'pensive artisan' aura about him. Softly spoken, but very deliberate. A perfect embodiment of Japan's ancient respect for thoughtful craftsmanship. Skills and knowledge honed to precision; unhurried by the ticking clock of deadlines or the pressures of trend or fad. Respect.

Hi bobby emery , I paid just over 1,300 US dollars for a set of 5-P, with modus 3 105s and MCC plus4 Align. I live in Taiwan so these figures might not be the best reference though. I actually consider them a bit of bargain at that price, consider how much a set of new clubs from mainstream brands are these days. Just get them, you won’t regret it.

  • @bobsofia68

That spin forging is as cool as he thought it looked. 8:44
First they have to clamp the iron precisely. Then the pre machined hosel is spun like a drill bit at some huge amount of rpm's. The machine that spins the hosel also presses it onto the iron creating a ton of friction. The heat created by that friction is what welds/forges the 2 pieces together. Ingenious solution.

Secondly, just by watching this video, you have made me fall in love with this MIURA Brand, thing is, I've always seen the brand and heard golfers rave about them but never really paid attention.
In all of my 28 years of playing golf,I have always thought or rather assumed MIZUNO to be the BEST IRON MAKERS of them all but this video has made me switch my long held conviction, just on their long heritage and workmanship, I have fallen in love with the brand.

Wow, simply the best video I have seen so far regarding Miura, Miurasan, and the clubs he and his family produce. I have a set but I am considering buying another just in case they discontinue making some of the older sets. The trend is towards more forgiving clubs which these days your higher handicap golfer wants, but ignores the qualities gained through discipline. I noticed you opted for a 2 iron and I would have done the same since I am sure few exist.

Erik you come across so humble in your videos. Just an average guy who is travelling across the world to document so many interesting stories about golf! Absolutely love your work man! Keep it up

Fascinating story done with care and respect for the people portrayed in it. I can't get enough of this (and can't fathom what kind of person would dislike it).

Arguably the best in the business, Miura irons. Seeing the process and attention to detail truly makes you appreciate Miura.

I love this video. Just stumbled upon it. I have two older sets of Miura MB/CB combos, and love them. They are special in deed. What a cool show, and what a great experience you’ve had!!

We all read books, watch tv series and even movies that we don’t ever want to end. Skratch, Erik and production team, this video gave me the same feeling. Seeing such passion put forth would anchor any “would-be” golfer to take up this timeless sport. Thank you.

Two words, "awe inspiring" to see golf through his eyes and the knowledge he has must have been unbelievable.
