Damn. Imagining getting locked up for life, maintaining a golf course day in day out, and not ever being able to touch a club.
Matthew Durkin that would be terrible lol
Matthew Durkin Solution: don't go to jail!
getting murdered would be pretty shitty too
+Jacob C. Wow.. That's enlightening. Super intelligent and well thought out analysis.
Zach Gower I know, right!
I think certain inmates should play golf. It would be a great program for a select small group of inmates that were deserving. Other prisons could follow suit. A new kind of PGA. Prison Golf Association.
Agreed. Everyone saying that they shouldn't play, well what about basketball, gym equipment, and watching TV?
If you murder, rape, arm rob anything there is no fixing you. There lucky to be alive, waste of money to keep them there
James Blank that’s like saying kids don’t bring anything to this world. People can change ya know.
@Business Guy Its facts
@Business Guy Truth hurts buddy
damn that green is slow as hell.
Looks like they were playing first thing in the morning. The greens were still very wet. It happens down here in the south.
@@Kingpinsuited00still aren’t that slow when wet. But the moisture does show that it hasn’t been mowed or rolled. My bet is they don’t roll greens.
Love how the dentist has a dip can in his pocket
Andy Waters
Actually my father carries his wallet there in the front pocket due to doctors orders.
The Deaner My father, the dentist, graduated with his doctorate from Loyola when it was leading dental school operative clinic in the nation.
Katie Ory cool story
When i got my wisdom and a molar removed my dentist recommended dip instead of smoking lmfao
@@katieory8408 Doctors orders not to carry a wallet in the back, or not to sit on your wallet?
I thought this whole video was about prisoners playing golf and then he says the prisoners can’t play golf...
I doubt even in the celebrity/politician prisons they get to play golf.
Click-ish Bait-ish ?
too bad i think it would serve as rehabilitation, health, and acquiring skills and civility, they could earn rounds of golf for days worked. that aligns with how society functions. its an opportunity to bond with a sport and love something which is attainable on a low wage outside of prison.
@Ol Hornytoad where is the rehabilitation aspect in all of our prisons, and in the world there are prisons that allow a lot of activities, it would be beneficial to know what promotes less repeat offenders. any insight?
@Enlightened ☀️ You become a monster if you are handled like one, countries that focus on rehab instead of punishing has the lowest numbers when it comes to inmates being back in jail after release.
Someone make a "The Longest Yard" remake but with golf...
This was sad as hell. That guy has put thousands of hours into that golf course and he’ll never get to play it. Sheesh
And his victim will never get to see one. He could be rotting in a cell.
Two ways to look at this. Dude works hard yet never gets to play. Flip side, this person murdered your family member and now you hear they are playing golf
snc237 yes that is extremely true, but we also have to forgive too.
John Plumleigh true but the person that was killed doesn’t even get the opportunity to forgive
Dr Dickinson true, but still they are kind of mocking him
You do a fantastic job of letting people talk, and making the interview about them. You could interview a rock and somehow make it the center of attention.
Agreed..TOO many channels have the creator not be able to have the attention not be on them. Glad to find a creator who doesn't have an ego that needs to be highlighted every 2 minutes
As a Louisiana resident, I’ve visited Angola plenty of times for the Angola Rodeo. I’ve never gotten to see most of the golf course, but the few holes I’ve seen along with just the landscape of the prison itself is beautiful. And a side note, the prisoners sell a lot of the artwork they make throughout the year at the rodeo, and it’s crazy how talented most of them are. Probably spent over $1000 just in woodworkings, wallets, and other stuff they’ve made over there.
green keeper for an inmate is by far the best job
I’d take that in a heart beat if I was in that situation
2:50 BRO! NO!! You cannot have these keys👍🏼😂👍🏼
Law enforcement needing big ass Fisher Price keys...sounds about right
@@RoyalWe14 lmao👍🏻🤣
Gives new meaning to hazards on the course
Play the coober pedy golf course in Australia, it has no grass and it's the only partnered golf course in the world with St Andrews.
Working 2 cents an hour and “aint allowed to play no country club sports.... can’t let that get out.” Damn near a line there, Lincoln apparently didn’t accomplish shit
The American prison system is just straight up slavery.
ok. So they should definitely be able to buy a round of golf with their measly pay
Only takes a year for 9 holes.
They should not even get paid do you realize what they are charged for
Guy murders one of your family members, get life in jail. You hear a year later he’s playing a round of golf.
You people think that only murderers go to.prison? More than 60% of.prisoners are non-violent
@@buxe4042 not in maximum security prisons..
1:40 "to give you some idearrr"
Wow what a great video series! This deserves a lot more views! Thanks for sharing these amazing stories
As someone who loves to play golf that would be a living hell if I ended up in a prison where I not only helped build but also maintained such a beautiful course and then was never able to play it.
You guys deserve so many more subs you guys obviously put a lot of work into this
This is sick and a great idea. Sucks a bit that non of the prisoners maintaining the course cant play. I think they should have something like once a month or bi weekly where they get to play (the select few that are min security etc)
A lovely documentary. Very atmospheric and a delight to watch. Rock solid thumbs up.
Another interesting vid Erik. Great job. I had no idea there was such a thing.
Those shots were criminal
The Longest Yard:Golf EDITION... "The Longest Put"
Starring:John Daley.
Great videos. Deserve far more subs then this.. Love the adventures you go on!
By far one of the coolest Golf videos I have ever seen! I just hit that subscribe and like!
This is amazing.
Read an article about that course. Interesting to see footage of it.
I think the Golf course should be used as an incentive for good behavior. Examples, prisoner gets their GRE let them play a round, if the prisoner works a job in the prison and has stayed out of trouble since being there let them play once a month or something. I'm sure its been thought of already, and I sure as hell don't know how to run a prison better than a warden. Just my 2 cents
Jon eh man your 2 cents are worth a lot, 1 prisoner working hour to exact
If you murder, rape, arm rob anything there is no fixing you. There lucky to be alive, waste of money to keep them there. They dont deserve incentives
I don't know if giving clubs to a convicted felon is a good idea
Let’s say a dude kills your parents, gets life sentence. Then you hear a few years later he plays a round of golf every month. I’m sorry but this is a punishment and the reward is you get to go out side and not be locked up. Sounds like a win to me
I bet 99% of the inmates have never touched a golf club in their life. Unless they were bashing someone’s head in with it.
THis is one of the best stories i have seen in golf in long time. great work!
Great video, thank you.
I saw your name on the streamys nominies and was not disapointed
Pretty cool video.
Good stuff.👍
Damn man. That's heavy. But thanks for a great and insightful story.
Brilliant video.
just discover this channel. dedicated to golf I likes
Loved it :)
Just happens to be an old plantation. The irony...the irony
1:20 Ain't shit changed
Ikr
Irony means the opposite of the expected, this isn't irony at all.
Yep, that's America for ya. If anyone hasn't yet, go read up on the 13th Amendment.
How have I not been recommened your videos yet?!
Erik These stories are the best damn videos on You Tube. I seriously hope we meet one day on the course.
awesome video, really love this series! I think there was a bit too much of editing however
This was sick
This channel is dope how am I just now finding this?
Free room and board, and golf !! I'm in!!!
Pretty rad video!
t gibs o
Great video, every golfers worst nightmare not being able to play a course you do work at!
The greenskeeper's dilemma
Very cool.
very good show.
Drawshank Redemption
That was cool
2 of U.S. favourite things. Golf and Locking people up! lol
Great video
I can’t even lie, this course is nicer than most of our public courses where I live. It’s a great concept, with the rehabilitation process some of these guys need. But I do believe a round of 3 or even 9 would help with clearing of the mind. Just an OP
no comments!?, this shit is great
Love how the guards politely told him to not bring up the prison while they’re on the golf course
There should be a movie where an inmate beats a guard in a golf tournament run by the warden.
I wonder what the re-incarnation rate is for people released from this prison. If it’s lower than the average then it’s an effective program, if not it’s modern day slavery.
This is amazing ,
Truly
God Bless this Warden and all his staff
God Bless All the inmates
Much Love

Amazing
When will there be some more adventures in golf?
Well them ol boys was havin a good time, tell you what.
I aint gonna lie... The golf course is in terrible condition lol
LordJakobe I’m sure they have virtually no budget lol
It's in a prison fuck nut.
You haven't seen some of the courses I've played in rural Maine then. This course looks more than acceptable for what it is. Spoiled brats expect tour conditions on every course?
Any golf course is tough to maintain in Louisiana, rains too damn much here 😂
You ever play miniature golf? There are cool courses in US also.
That Warden is a wise old man. I loved what he had to say.
@@thomasreed3210 yikes
Wow!! I never heard of this golf course. It's beautiful.
Oh man , I’m not even stealing a Snickers in case I get locked up here
What’s par on this hole again?
25 to life.
Ok. Going with the shank wedge.
The warden is truly a nice and caring person. The way he talks about rehabilitation is heartwarming.
currently under investigation lmao
@@joshleppert7850 lmfao for what?
He has slaves maintaining a golf course. You're definition of caring is very strange.
@@Dale_Higgins slaves who committed various crimes?
One of the most exclusive golf clubs in America
I worked at a prison in south Louisiana, knowing a lot about Angola. No idea this existed and I want to play it!
You better eat that crawfish lol
I watched the whole video. When I heard that the inmates can’t play golf I realized that is a special type of torture.
I wish the UK had some prison governors with the vision of this one, impressive and shows what can be done with some integrity, foresight, vision and pragmatic good sense.
“Honey how was work?” “Horrible I shot a 97.”
Nice divot with the driver
Would have been nice to see some of the golf course......
Awesome vid. Would love to get out there for 18
I think he meant 18 holes, not 18 years. ;)
I was like I'll go time any day at that prison then I was like ohh its for the guards
Man, I know they’ve made their mistakes in life, but I wish the best for the groundskeeper and all the other people in the prison systems who have done their best to turn their life around
Amen
Pappy O'Dainiel says these prisoners need reform, ya see!
Guvnu
he ain’t got a constituency!
"I think you should hit the 8 iron daddy."
"Hand me the wedge, you stupid sumbitch."
Do the mess officers at Angola use cool clear water and rich pure Pappy O'Daniel Flour when they're fixin' to bake a mess of biscuits???
I was in a identical X house in illinois. Called western correctional.
guy kinda seems like he wants to be on vice but never really got there
vice is overrated
Damn. I’d like to learn how to mow greens. Are there any openings? Nah, great story. Hope it stays open.
why does this remind me of something Warden Norton from Shawshank would do?
Get him a bigger mower
John Klaas nah he's got nothin but time lol
This is such a positive thing for these prisoners. I completely support this.
So you work at the prison, get a decent course with no tee times, and its maintained for free. What a brilliant idea. Happiest Guards in the US.
Oregon state penitentiary in Salem Oregon has a mini golf course in the prison grounds.
Unfortunately in America there is hardly any focus on rehabilitation in the prison / jail systems. Don't know exactly how without giving it some serious thought but golf could be a great tool to achieve just this.
Those sunglasses though. I need a pair anyone know what they are and where to get them?
The warden is actually a good guy
That guy talking about the murderer getting a second chance with the knowledge of what it takes to work is very deep. He’s a good guy and really wants to do good for these inmates.
hes a brown noser
heard a lot about Angola, but never knew about the course....
I didn't know Dane Cook played golf
They should be able to buy a round of golf
that warden is a wise man
Does anyone have the soundtrack list for this?
4:27 He reminds me of Stephen Root.
Idearrr
Can anyone tell me the name of the song that is playing during the opening intro??
