    Also, there's a silver drain plug on the bottom of that black oil filter housing, it takes a 6mm hex to remove the filter drain plug. Remove that plug and and use a flexible funnel, the hole is small and it doesn't gush out too bad. After you do this oil will not go down your sleeve and EVERYWHERE else when you drop the filter, like it did in your video.

      That little hex was frozen unfortunately. All it was doing was undoing the whole thing. The mess makes for better video unfortunately I didn’t get the part where I lost my hat in the drain pan.

    Because this is just the VW VR6 engine you can use the VW dipstick, which is VW part # 03H115607B. Also, you can take the dipstick from a 2008-2010 V6 Cayenne because they still came with dipsticks. I pulled one from a wrecked 2009 Cayenne Base V6 and use it in my 2013 Cayenne Base V6. The dipstick from a 3.6L Audi Q7 should also work because it's also the same engine, but I don't know Audi's and if they have one from the factory or not.

    Kudos for doing this with such a small space to work with. Wish I could do this, but my phobias would not allow me to, not only am I petrified of getting stuck in tight spaces, but the thought of those jacks giving way and me getting crushed under an SUV but still being alive long enough to have my phobias eat at me, well it's enough to give me the heebie jeebies for life.

    How much of this information applies to a 2014 diesel?
    Appreciate the additional info on the ramps, additional drain plug on filter housing, and crush washers. Is there a torque value published for the drain plugs and oil filter housing?
    I love my Cayenne. It is a beautiful beast.

    I have really enjoyed your videos. Thank you! One thing I noticed is that you used a regular Mobil 1 5W-30 but the manual requires "Porsche C30 or VW 504/507 Compatible" engine oils. Mobil 1 ESP 5W-30 meets this requirement. Motul X-Clean+ 8100, Liqui Moli Top Tec 4200, Total Ineo Long Life, etc. will meet the requirement as well. I used the regular Mobil 1 5W-30 oil until it hit 90,000 miles but I realized the very specific specs for 958 V6 recently. :)
    I am not sure how the difference between Mobil 1 5W-30 and Mobil 1 ESP 5W-30 can affect the engine in the long run. It may affect Catalytic Converters. But I started using ESP for peace of mind. Never too late. Just my 2 cents.

    • @KevinsEuropeanGarage
      @KevinsEuropeanGarage  4 года назад +3

      I've always used just regular Mobil 1 I've never had an issue with longevity. I do change my oil every 5K because I believe anything longer than that isn't good for the engine. I'm not a fan of the 10k+ oil change. I'll look into the ESP and some other oils. Its been a while since I've used anything else other than Mobil 1.

    hello .. very good video .. I will copy your work as soon as I need to change the oil ..
    I have questions ..
    Is your V6 engine the same as my V6 3L 245Hk 2012 model .. same oil type and volume?
    I have another question .. I saw the oil coming out of the engine .. not much but the whole lower part of the engine is in oil
    (oil does not drip on the floor)
    Do you know what it could be, where to look for an oil leak ??

    • @KevinsEuropeanGarage
      @KevinsEuropeanGarage  3 года назад

      I believe it is the same engine. They only make 1 gas 6cyl engine that year. Your oil is hard to say exactly where it’s coming from. Since the whole bottom is covered I would clean it off completely and start checking to see where the oil starts to form. It’s it’s all covered it’s hard to say, could be coming from multiple places. Thanks for watching.

    Hey Kevin! I have a 2014 base cayenne and was planning on using 0w-40 for the oil - is this a bad idea? I live in NYC since I know the temperature of where you live can affect which type.

    • @KevinsEuropeanGarage
      @KevinsEuropeanGarage  3 года назад +1

      Well from viewing the chart you're gaining 5deg. We are talking -40 deg C compared to -35C. It does give added protection but I've never seen the temp that low. I've always stayed with what Porsche recommends. From what the charts says you'd be fine. If you went the other direction to say a 20W, then you'd start having issues.

    Dude there is a Allen nut on the oil filter housing to drain it first before pull the housing off. Hold a funnel up there when you take off the drain plug of the housing. And it’s not messy at all. Durrrrr

    Hi. My porches Cayenne 2014 coolant leak near passenger. Could you please let me know what s happened? Thanks

    • @KevinsEuropeanGarage
      @KevinsEuropeanGarage  3 года назад +1

      Hi Bryan, you have few things in the passenger side to check. The overflow tank is there make sure the cap is good and tight. Make sure your lines aren’t cracked. And the other thing I would check is there is a hose that connects to a plastic connector that bolts to the engine it’s towards the back of the engine under the intake manifold. The plastic pipe is known to leak. That’s what I would take a look at. Also check your water pump they leak at around 60k miles just to make sure.

    I have A confused question, could you give me a hand to solve that can we use the extractor to extract oil from cayenne

    • @KevinsEuropeanGarage
      @KevinsEuropeanGarage  3 года назад +1

      Well they probably don’t make one small enough to fit down the dipstick tube. The main thing is that the oil cap isn’t at the side and there is no drain the goes to the pan in the front of the engine from there. Also you still have to go under for the oil filter. You would save no time by using an extractor.

  • @guridhesi

    Man i had a question. I just changed my oil and just like you, i could not remove the oil filter housing with the filter on as one piece. And had to struggle a little getting the used filter out cause of space constraints. But i was watching a video of a Porsche tech and he literally takes the hosing out as a single unit in less than 5 seconds.

    • @KevinsEuropeanGarage
      @KevinsEuropeanGarage  3 года назад

      No you can’t take it out in one piece at least not that I’m aware of. Maybe when the car is on the lift it makes it easier to see or he used some editing to make it look easy. Also what year car? Was it an earlier model!
