Well, I've decided that my 2005 E 320 CDI isn't the best turbo diesel out there so I bought another Turbo Diesel Mercedes. Don't worry I'll explain and also give you the exact game plan for modifications on the new car. We are talking about a custom built turbo, bigger injectors, larger intercooler and of course an E63 Body Kit and much much more. Hope you guys are just as excited about this awesome build as I am.

Thanks,Alex,for highlighting the Diesel engine ! I’ve known for years that a diesel is the best for engines, in almost every application.. I was a truck driver for 26 years. I used to laugh my butt off at the surprise most people had when I would out run them from a stop light in my tractor, by launching from 3rd or 4th gear and then pulling way ahead of them to 60-75 mph. When they caught up to me, the look on their faces was priceless. A had one guy follow me to a truck stop just to ask me how and why was my 18,000 lbs. tractor so quick and able to pull away from his gas powered pickup truck. I answered with the one word every diesel owner knows - torque. If you want to move something heavy, you’re gonna need torque. When I look at performance numbers, the first thing I look for now, is the amount of torque an engine produces. Those are the numbers I’d like to hear about, when you tell us about your performance gains after the modifications you’ve done to your cars. Everyone already knows you’re looking for more horsepower, but it takes torque to move that beautiful Merc! Tell us how to make those numbers go up, then tell us what that seat fees like and how far back you got pressed into it when you dropped the hammer in a race!

I'm from Italy (Florence) and i own a C30 cdi amg and you're right the fuel injectors are 30% larger. You're videos helped me a lot with with my car especially you're c55 amg videos. Thanks a lot for your videos and for the great job you're doing.

Leave it black! Black Mercedes look so good especially with an amg bodykit. Have you thought about buy a crashed e55 from copart? Might be cheaper then buying parts individually

@@parkerbenz i love benz more than all cars together but bmw mercedes diesel performance can do nothing to bmw 3.0 bi turbo that car with only ecu tune gets 100-200 in 11 seconds and mercedes make 4.0 bi turbo v8 that is also tuned 16 sec need from 100-200
durst chan its realy powerfull ,but transmision is the same like e 320cdi ,so soon or later expect troubles...

That wood trim really pops against the black interior. As for a wrap, I had an E350 in Tanzanite Blue. I loved that colour. My vote would be for something similar. Great video, Alex, and Happy New Year!

Great find. Love the seats that was one of the options I was looking for. The day after Xmas I bought a 05 cdi silver (yuck) but black interior (plus) body, engine compartment and interior is 95 % close to perfect. 108,000 miles new tires, brakes, wipers and plugs were replaced 10,000 miles ago. I had to drive 3 hours to Caden NJ. To find out once I got home the screen on radio flickers and needs right ball joint. I found out once I hit a PA potholes. Lol. Great videos and info.

On your new black E320 with that warm burl wood: replacing the grey leather with black will really POP the trim! Good call!
But current diesels are so clean. It's sad. Mercs new i6 diesel is just sublime. It has to be the best diesel ever made. So smooth. So quiet. So economical. So quick. It's just the perfect engine for a car. You get everything. The speed, the economy and the refinement. It can tow anything while remaining economical. Diesel is simply the best for powering anything.

yep, those new inline 6 diesels from Mercedes are, without a single doubt, one of the best if not the best diesel engine ever made. They absolutely knocked it out of the park with that engine.
@Arthur Wall 🙂 Yes it did. If that could power every car they ever made from here going forward, I'd be happy. I really hope they do take it to the US at some point. It deserves to be experienced by everyone.

Man as I've mentioned previously I have the same car 2005 e320 cdi so these were all the thing that I was looking forward to modding this year but now I'll have results from you. Looking forward to seeing how things go with the new turbo and all. Keep up the great work
Have some experience on CR turbo diesels here in eu. As far as the exhaust, the cat on the DP is a tremendous restriction and it heats the turbo a lot so it does not exactly add to the longevity, you might even melt it with the hybrid turbo. Creating a straight pipe DP will give a lot of whistling goodies sound from the turbine, nice spooling sounds, but most importantly it will free up a lot of power up the power band where usually there was little power 4300-4500 rpm, and also it will improve the turbos life. You may not benefit much without a remap (custom tune) and on some cars a huge turbo lag (hole) has been created after making a straight down pipe because it reliefs pressure much faster, although I personally have not had that problem at all, wasnt a Merc though. As far as the rest of the exhaust goes, I would delete everything and create a straight pipe except the rear muffler would be a high flow. You do not want to remove the rear muffler except if you want that whistling hollow sound of an owl (if you know what I mean haha) but I wouldnt do it to a daily. Good luck! I really think it would be Legit Cool to have the E55 and E350 look exactly the same in your garage. The matching paint kinda got me thinking that from the start. One Weekend shredder, and one daily driver. We're talking garage envy right there brother! All you'd need to complete the 3rd space is a Unimog Black Edition, Legit style from a base OEM Mog.

I converted my w220 S500 brakes over to S55 and I had to swap spindles as well. Brake pump has no issues though.
Those E400 CDI’s are beasts! Can’t wait to see more updates on the new car! Water methanol is an awesome option- brings the charge air temperature down considerably- we used to fit them on a lot of VW/Audi 20V 1.8T cars, even with the stock intercooler they pick up nicely!

2017+ CTS-V. I now have a 2010 Jag XFR, and yes I came from an F body, a 99 Z28. Spun a cam bearing so I installed a crate LS6, 430hp made it a very nice driving car.

I’ve got mine about a year ago and I love it!! I put about 15k miles on it, upgraded the turbo, intercooler, fuel system, intake, exhaust and a trans tune. Running it at 470hp and it’s great to daily!

Have a silver E320 CDI, love this car, inherited it from my mom, she did all the factory maintenance. No rust, my Mercedes mechanic wanted to buy it the first time he saw it.

I've been a diesel driver for more than 20 years, VWs and BMWs. The 05/06 320 CDI has always been a car I've been interested in. Great videos!
You are doing EXACTLY what I have been planning and have already collected many of the parts.
I have the C30 CDI injector nozzles installed on injectors already but not on my car yet. I have upgraded billet turbo already installed. I have front mount installed.
I have a used E400 CDI pump. It is not a direct bolt on. For a start, there is no fuel temp sensor and also there is some shaving to be done on the front side of the engine. The fuel lines are slightly different also.
I am going to do custom downpipe ... only have the flange ... did not get a whole downpipe. Figure it’s all going to be custom anyway.
I have E63 AMG bumper and door mirrors also
I just bought E55 AMG calipers to go on.
I have a euro spec intake manifold with no swirl flaps I swapped it out when I had a bad oil cooler leak.
My car is speced more like your newer CDI very rare in the US. Mine has Parktronic and I retrofitted distronic also. So nice to see someone else so enthusiastic about this car! Google my screen name and you’ll find I fix and modify quite a bit of stuff on W211 Chassis!

@@turbo97semax You retrofitted Distronics ? I would love to be able to do that to my '05 E-500 and maybe my '06 S-55 AMG. Tell me about it, is the programming already in the computer to be activated or do you have to program it in? Wiring issues? Components required? Don't worry about confusing me, I've been a mechanic for over 50 years. Unfortunately only worked on Mercs for the last 10 or 12 years. I say "Unfortunately," because I wish I'd become a Merc-a -Holic long ago. LoL. So many years wasted.

On point with your mods list for this car brother, pretty sure it’ll pick up gobs more torque and throttle response with the decat downpipe and it’ll sound insane but yeah it’s gonna smell for sure without it.

Dark side performance are an excellent company here in the UK. They have built record breaking tdi cars for drag racing. I was amazed how much horsepower they managed to get from a 1.9tdi.
Your new merc plans sounds awesome. The egr valve are you going to blank it off as well or just telling it to stay closed?
Can't wait for this build. Not many people touch diesel power unless your a cummins fan of course.

It IS a great car I got mine from Florida and it was SUPER clean with 104 000 mi ..it HAS some known problems the transmission needs to be flushed and a cable connector replaced as a precaution! There is leakage happening that just might take out the transmission controller if left as is. The SBC (hydroelectric brake system) when it goes out you cannot go replace it yourself unless you have the star diag equipment. The Kommand unit (radio/gps) unit can be replaced with an android system thats capable talking to the can bus and the fiber optics interface and the amplifier in the trunk, thats how you get a usb interface to connect stuff to the amplifier! because the stock Kommand head unit doesnt have USB! Have fun!!!! Projects for next year.

I did the same thing hunting my cdi down years ago. It doesn't have the dynamic seats but they are beige heated and the car has the dynamic HID's, pano roof, trunk assist, Rear folding seats that automatically push the seats forwards as well as the appearance package. Not sure if the aux port in the glovebox is standard but it does have the C723 Cubanitsilber (pewter silver) paint and really unusual factory B2G18 18spoke wheels. Got it with 120k miles, now up to 306k. Runs like a top.
Yes, those seats cost me $7k when I purchased my CDI in 2005. I'm 6' - 200 lbs. and it was so damn uncomfortable I sold it in 6 months at a huge loss. Had intended to drive it forever and was so disappointed. Now that deprecation has taken it's toll I'm actually looking for a CDI with std. seats. That said, I'll try to find your email and send you an inquiry re: the silver car. Good luck on the upgrades, i'll be watching.
I fitted oversize injectors on a Peugeot 806 HDI (Bosch common rail diesel) many years ago and with no other mods they did make it noticeably more powerful. There are some tuning boxes around which mess with the signal from the rail pressure sensor to increase rail pressure to achieve the same thing but I thought that oversize injectors would put less strain on the fuel system. The 806 is still being driven by someone else and now has a huge mileage on it. The injectors have not caused any problems.
Right there with ya on the C63. Your tempting me on looking into a diesel though. I just don’t know how to work on them. If i can’t work on it it’s a dealbreaker.

That black with those dynamic seats is super badass. Good buy as well. I bought a 1991 300d turbo that was a special order car as well. It had real leather not MB Tex, ASR, heated seats and a power rear sunshade. It also had a optional passs airbag. The interior was burgundy. Ugh by kinda cool for old MB. Weird! I love em both Alex!

I have a 2003 e500 with the same active seats. The side bolsters leak now and Mercedes says there is nothing they can do about them. Any suggestions?
I really enjoy your videos very detailed and to the point. I'm currently thinking on selling my Nissan 200sx and looking for e55 amg. Just a little apprehensive as their very different cars and the merc is a little daunting to me with repairs ect.

Btw.: i have the dynamic seats in a W212 E63 and at the right roads at the right speed, the dynamic funtion isn't fast enough, so i don't use it on the driver seat anymore. If the Road is twisty i "manually" adjust the sidebolsters all the way inwards. When the road and speed return to "calm/comfortable" they are put back in their outward position again.

regarding the injectors, you should just send yours to be modified but you need to make sure they change the insides too and not just the nozzle. Another choice is to buy a set of the newer om646 injectors (maybe broken ones) and modify those. From what I can remember late om646 had big injectors stock and could be modified even bigger. Also if you plan to put out 400-500 hp you should probably rebuild the trans with better parts

I totally agree with the winter tyres on a RWD car - I put them on a BMW E61 and when it snowed took it to a car park to do doughnuts but it would only drive in circles! Ive just fitted them on my W204 so Im waiting for the white stuff.
Last year I did a video comparing our Mini on CWTs to a 4 wheel drive with summer tyres, and the 4x4 couldn't get off the drive!

Nice car. I once bought a 2010 C300 W204 which had the same exact trunk lid gap. The car was never been in an accident. I found that the spring under the lid had too much tension causing the gap. I adjusted the spring tension by changing the hook latch position and the gap and gone. Remove the inside trunk covers under the rear glass and the lid hinges and rams; you may see what am I talking about.

that was a great buy, the seat option is indeed rare, been chasing cars for a long time as a contract buyer/exporter and very few benzes had those in them.
I've been experimenting with some anti rust stuff and found that fluid film spray can really helped to stop rust on the bottom of the doors. VHT anti rust treatment is also pretty good for cleaned metal surfaces before paint/primer. Comes in a can as well.
btw, how thick is the concrete slab where you installed the lift?
My 06 E350 wagon has all these features. Too. I love it. 😍

Here in europe big engine diesels have quite good equipment. I've driven one 4matic 320 with panoramic roof, electric leather seats etc

I got the very same car with the leather seats.
My car has problems with worn drivers seat, 3rd brake light (dealership in Chicago quoted 200$) and the notorious rear air bags.
These cars tend to “fall down” in the rear, be careful of that one.
Keep making videos about German cars since here, in Europe, they are really releavant and I personally enjoy content about cars that I could afford myself. Some parts of the Europe such as northern countries have very high fuel prices and therefore having a diesel is considered to be more than normal. Looking forward to more cool projects!
Good informative video, i also own a Mercedes w211 320 cdi inline 6 with remap and downpipe on 76mm (straight piped to the end) i will be looking with interest for those modifications :)
in europe we have the e420 cdi with the biturbo diesel v8 is pretty dope tbh
Except for when the balancing shaft needs replacing haha. It's not even in the ballpark with 648 when it comes to reliability and sturdyness
