My Turbo Diesel Mercedes made big power on the dyno with just 3 simple mods. A cat delete, muffler delete, and stage 1 Race Iq tune. It still gets almost 40 mpg highway and drives like stock. This car is really impressive so far and I can't wait for the bigger turbo, intercooler, injectors, meth injection, etc.

Do you think my CDI could tow my E55?
LegitStreetCars lol. That would be fun. Now MB is not rated to tow. You know that. Lol. Did u sell the silver one?
I’d bet it could!
why the hell not
@@AutoAuctionRebuilds Nice to see you here.
It definitely has the torque. Would be hilarious especially once the E63 body kit, wheels, wrap, etc is done.
Finally, someone is customising a diesel Mercedes! Awesome

People have been getting over 700hp out out of stock 3 litre merc diesels for years now.
That beard tho!! 😍😍
Thanks for stopping by the shop - it was definitely our pleasure having you 🙏
Fluid MotorUnion beautiful shop!
Classy place 🤘🏻
Thanks so much!
Thanks!
You guys are doing something right for sure
The torque dip you see on the dyno is not a limiter, it's an inability of the high pressure fuel pump to deliver high pressure demanded quick enough and it's happening when there is not enough load on the engine (RPM's climbing too quickly). Yes, this can be corrected in the tune but the real limiting factor here for further tuning like stage2 and stage3 (hybrid turbo) will be the high pressure fuel pump. Replacing this pump with a more powerful one will be very costly and will require further modifications but one simple fix for this problem is providing a higher feed pressure to the pump, so installing an inline high performance fuel pump before the high pressure fuel pump can help greatly.
Black smoke racing built a om648 and used HPFP off a e400cdi om628. They mentioned that is flowed 30% more fuel so that shoulf solve the issue. There is also the more powerful om629 which i imagine has a even higher flowing HPFP. They mentioned a tuning shop that modifies the stock injectors which i figure would be a nozzle swap. i wonder how much that goes for 🤔
We agree, the pump is the ultimatly the deciding factor for power, which is what the limiter in the file is more than likely protecting.
Trajkovski Labs od kade si ?
if this a 2.0 cdi maybe high pressure pump from 320cdi would do?
In my opinion if it was the high pressure fuel pump the engine light would turn on with an error on the ecu...
Thanks to Dollar Shave Club for supporting Alex and his amazing channel. Thanks for the content Alex!
Thanks brother
I had similar Dyno surprise with my 7.3 psd. I built it for 450 whp. First Dyno run it did 494 whp and 850 ftlbs. Got to lower elevation and cooler ambient temps and it did 519 whp and 1001 ftlbs. Then it blew a head gasket lol. Only 46 psi of boost on stock head bolts. Loving the CDI build. My e55 kills me on gas so may look into a cdi for a commuter.
Marnin Gehman ‘Sounds like you were lucky with your stock head bolts on your 7.3. Usually they are good for either 400 hp or 40 lbs/boost-which ever comes first.
@@jonathanjones8044 Yeah I've got an s364sxe turbo and 180/100 injectors. My tuner was surprised at the results. Now I have head studs, valve springs, pushrods, and ported head done.
Saw your vids. Went and bought a cdi as my daily. 85k miles, Cali car, beautiful. Got 41.8mpg up to LA
What year? How much?
How in the world don't you have at least 1million subs. I have been watching for a long time and all videos have been amazing. Keep it up

thank god, i initially thought it was going to be a gillette shout out.
I need to stop watching this series, just found an '05 CDI with 142k on it for $6900. So tempted to go look at it in person.

Definitely can't judge the book by its cover with OJ! very knowledgeable and well spoken guy
Sweet Alex. Seriously loving the 05' CDI I just bought. Did a massive fuel flush, changed trans fluid and fresh oil within 24hrs of ownership! These cars are so sweet! Keep up the great content man and thank you!
Brian Prince how’s it holding up? After watching these vids im considering one
I have an 07 w203 2.2 cdi with 122hp stock and 176hp on a stage 1 plus remap, pulling like a demon right now! These Merc diesels are the ultimate daily!
Thank you so much for the CDI mod videos. I have a SL55 and my daily is a silver 2006 E320 CDI which is currently at Burdi's getting a new glow plug module (thanks to the cold weather) and injector seals. Every time I take one of my MBs there they're personable and all smiles but always try to screw me first with inflated estimates. I'm normally a DIYer but my garage is not heated and it's too cold. I also just realized we are almost neighbors. I passed your E320 (I've passed the E55 too in the past but wasn't 100% sure it was yours) parked on the street yesterday driving home from Wendy's. Anyway, I was going to keep my CDI stock but now I'm motivated to mod it to the extent I don't lose any mpg.
Nice video ... For torque measurement, there are one of two things that can be done.
1. You can stick a reflective stripe on the crank pulley and there is a sensor pickup that detects the rotation and provides an input to the dyno - specifically for diesels. Dynojets I know for sure have this.
2. It is possible to rig up a coil pack (A Nissan Maxima/350Z coil on plug works) with spark plug and trigger the coil with the CDI's injector output (teeing into it).
As for towing, it can definitely tow with no issues. The older sprinter vans use OM647 (same engine with one less cylinder) can tow heavy loads easily (although transmission is different).
The dip ..is possibly tuning at this stage. You might want to hook up Mercedes DAS to monitor the fuel pressure as you make a pull. If pressure drops, then take a look at tuning possibilities for increasing rail pressure at lower RPM as the fuel pressure is reduced at lower RPM. I don't think you are out of pump at just stage 1.
Dude what a awesome shop and awesome living concept. Wow I wanna move there ! Lol. I’m impressed dude with the pulls. Looking good!
Well done you just told the world what cars are in the shop and left them open to be stolen.
To be honest, I think the reason you're seeing more HP/TQ than what you thought you'd see (stock) is that some MFG's have "understated" their HP figures; GM has done it, BMW, lots of them have. Wouldn't be surprised MB does/did as well.... The one you DEFINITELY do not want is OVERSTATED (MAZDA has been caught doing this sev. times and has paid dearly (fined) for it.) I'm sure i'm missing others that this has happened to....
Very happy to see the results thus far with your new Toy!
What you said about understated horsepower is true for German manufacturers in particular. I don't know if it holds true for American ones. Motor trend actually did a Dyno test on a BMW vs Merc video awhile ago because they themselves didn't believe the track output equaled what the manufacturers were saying the stock horsepower should have produced. video is here and the dyno test starts at the 3 minute mark: ruclips.net/video/rY5oSik1eHs/видео.html
@@SchwarzeTulpe Exactly.... BMW/Benz usually are really close to their actual crank horsepower. So if you tune them at all... you're usually instantly OVER the numbers you'd think you'd be at.
Bmw and merc historically have been known to underrate their power ratings
There is a torque limiter. 450 nm (331 ft-lb) in gears from 2nd to 5th. You can remove it in the software.
Great video. You’re in car heaven, car lovers got their own car city. That’s so cool. Your Turbo diesel going to get upgrades. Your videos put Mercedes Benz in a different light. Pre purchase inspections is important so you know you purchased a reliable car.
Hi Alex, I would love to see you getting your hands on a later 3.0 V6 CDI. These were also sold in the w203 C and w209 CLK models here across the pond and are quite a bit lighter than the w211 chassis. But aside from a regular tune, I haven't seen anyone do much to them? Just bringing up some ideas for future episodes :) Keep it up!
You've added more power than I had in my first car ( European Ford Fiesta 1.1L ). Well done !!
great VDO again! That shop/car warehouse is sick! Great results, can't wait to see the new intercooler
You have to find a proper tuner to tune it... With only a good tune i got 283bhp and 700Nm= 516ft/lb. Was´nt enough so i did billet kompressor wheel, bigger IC and 3bar MAP sensor. Got 320bhp/806Nm = 594ft/lb Still with cat and muffler thing in the kompressor pipe and 2bar boost=29psi
а какая динамика - 0-100 и 100-200
The dudes over at Fluid are awesome! They did a motor swap in my M3 when they were at their old shop in Plainfield. I've been wanting to put one of these om648's in a g500 but I know nothing about diesels. Nice to see a local make some great german car content!

Brilliant Alex. Man I want to come over from the U.K. and work on this car! I’ll bring some fish and chips!
Great job Alex! It looks absolutely freezing in your garage.
No wonder German cars are so damn expensive... Sensors for your license plate lamp.... Lmao
Basic things with canbus. And really handy
Not really specific sensors, it's mainly monitoring the current running through the lamp. My first Mercedes was from 1984 and had at least it's headlights monitored. (without can bus) And my second from 1994 had every outside light monitored. Both cars didn't tell you which light was defective, but they showed a warning light. And from 2001 onwards most Mercedes even did use another light to subtitute a defective one. For example if your forward left turn signal bulb broke, the forward left fog light would flash instead when switching on the turn signal. Or in the rear, in case of a broken brake lightbulb the backlights would take over the breaking light function too. This caused my father and me to search quite a while for a reason why his car wrote "brake light defective" when there were clearly bright red lights when he hit the brake...
@@nirfz good to know! had some problems connecting the wireing for the detacheble towhitch on my w211 e200, started measuring the powerwires to the lights, like 3 volts wtf!? got it to work anyways... modern cars..
nirfz I had my left license plate bulb go on my W221 and replaced them with LEDs. Way better look for like $16. I think it’s one of the only bulbs that doesn’t have a substitute. Our W211 had the right low beam go and the high beam just shined less bright in its absence (High beam less power I guess.) it was really cool. I was impressed.
@@BeesonsCars no problems with the monitoring of the license plate lights then? As with LEDs there is less current, or was it a dedicated exchange insert that matches up? I value these substitute features and monitoring as real safety increase. (Much more than any "driving-assist" could ever be)
I was watching old LSC videos came across this one and was shocked when I saw Alex had a beard I was like whoa 😅
have you looked into the 335d and the M57 platform?? will blow your mind for sure!!!!
Yes -- but how about that easy downpipe access?
Yes, as you have seen now, the BEST thing by far that you can do for a turbo car's performance is to open up the exhaust.
Finally, the one we were waiting for.... Great Vid
Beard looked good on ya. Got myself a CLK270cdi recently and I'm excited to some of the mods you've done here. Can't wait to hear my 5 pot turbo roar!
The second I seen he’s beard I told my self I hope dollar shave club supports him
Man I can’t wait to be able to get an e55 one of my favorite channels awesome work Alex !
German diesels are restricted for strict emissions issues, so they can be tuned without spending a lot. My 530d E60 with a stage 1 tune, has over 280 HP and 600 Nm.
That old transmission must be SCREAMING for dear life and the ECM/TCM must be doing EVERYTHING under it's power to help it(torque limiter or w/e is called).
Personally I'm loving more the DIESEL content than Benzine 😈🤘❤🔥.
KEEP IT COMING !
Awesome man!!!
Hi. In UK that car stock on stage 1 remapped they can put them doing 244 bhp. Great engines
That Iron Gate place looks like literal heaven. I'd love to live somewhere like that in WA. Seems almost too good to be true.
I know your into mercedes and ive had a stock 07 bluetec, however i got my girl a 2010 bmw 335d and Holy S***T that car is FAST, it smoked my bluetec! mod the bmw !
Hi
Again
Get a Delphi DS150e and data log with that,
You can also put in a SD card and record to that so you don't need a PC with you,
It should read the full boost, not just the diagnosis level,
Dave
Rezvani beast alpha....
Love it bro I just sold my 2013 sprinter 65k mi and bought a 2005 cdi with 299k miles and no Black Death
Time for that OM692 high pressure fuel pump and some +30 nozzles.
I have a 330cd in the uk running 289bhp and 530ftlbs just a 3 inch downpipe and straight pipe. Still have the egr and stock cooler atm too!!! Returns me 40 mpgs urban and 50 on the motorway
0 to 60?
Best I’ve had is 5.3 on gps.
Get a custom tune, mate. Phatbotti timing. Mike Botti is a god send. I guarantee as long as he has a tuner to log and map through it’ll pick up good power. Also, is t this dyno shop right in front of the car storage place? Cool location.
That look's a lot like wheel spin in the dyno, diesels make huge loads of torque down low, and your winter tires can just not hold that very well..to be sure just try with the drag radials..
Great car and mods. I hate to think what the salt is doing to it though. Ex Upstate New Yorker living in the Georgia Mountains.
Hmmm I can smell the diesel exhaust gases. Oddly I love that and gives me memories of better days. Mercedes SK with the Turbo V8, with intercooler. Or better known as OM442la. Those where the days....
Nice gains! These diesels are tons of fun. Looks like you has similar results to my 335d which jumped from 265/469 at the crank (factory #s) to 289/489 at the wheels with just a tune.

Keep up the good work. I have an S211-2003 with OM648 and Carlsson CD32.
I look forward to seeing how much you gain by changing the intercooler.
Maybe 400cdi pump and C30 CDI injectors?
Yes you could tow the other w211 no problem. Even a 220 CDI has 2,1 ton towing capacity, the 6 cylinder even more like 2,5 ton and a Trailer is 500 kg and the w211 around 1,8 t. Thats what it says in europe
Thank god it wasn't Gillette lmao
You're a bad person. Remember that! Haha
Change the steering wheel, tail lights, sife mirrors, headlights, shift knob to a facelift will look so much better
A great dyno , we use the same one in my shop :)
Wheel torque is usually 1000's of ft'lbs so "wheel torque" is usually engine torque measured at the wheel with all the drive train losses. At max engine torque in first gear you could be seeing 5000 ft/lbs torque at the wheels IF you loaded the engine to 100%.
20hp increase, Alex: crazy, crazy power lmao
If you want more torque, just much more fuel for the engine!
A diesel though? Im not talking shit but. I didnt think you could make diesel benz run like that . big ups
Lovin’ this car for some reason! Makes me so want to ditch my non-CDI 211 for some diesel action!
I was trying to buy a 2009 E63 but after 2 sold while I was in route to the dealer I turned my attention to a 2016 C300 w205. It's my first Mercedes-Benz and I think I've definitely got the bug now.
That factory horsepower sounds right, they have a reputation for being under rated from the factory.
Dang. Your vids have more ads than a magazine!
You must have freaked out when you saw this place.
Should add lpg injecton to it. Bugger meth. More power. Clean burn
Also the stock e270cdi/320cdi 722.6 auto box is only rated at 427lbs/ft which is likely why you were having the cut out. There higher rated ones in the big twin turbo amg v12s
Great videos, I have a 2002 Volvo S60 D5,
When logging the boost by OBD2 port,
It may only read up to 1.5bar max as that is the diagnosis limit in most ECUs, you need to read the
Makers persific ECU pressure info, I see you use dashcommand to do the logging, so that will only read max 1.5bar of boost,
I would install a real boost gauge so if the VNT in the turbo plays up you will see,
Dave from the UK
300whp its not problem for this engine but for automatic transmision yes.i forget, its 722.6 with 5 gear ? woth 722.3 with 4 gear from old model like W124 or W140 1000hp its like walking in park 😁 greatting from Germany (sorry for mistakes)😊
The 722.6 is stronger than the earlier 4 speed offered in the W210 diesels here in the US. It can easily be upgraded to the factory V12 biturbo parts to hold a lot of torque.
w210 320 cdi here, with factory 197 hp and 470 Nm. I kinda want to do chip tuning but the poor thing has 540 thousand km on it. Maybe after I replace the high pressure fuel pump.
From what I've heard, the Bluetec E320 has a better intercooler - so that might be worth swapping in.
From tuning my own cars (BMW 135i and Audi TT) it seems like that dip at wot is boost cut. So you should have them check the boost limits. Also if you read the fault codes you'll probably see the overboost code. It will not set off the CEL but it will store the fault.
You should get aquamist methanol injection. It helps alot. Worked great on my car.
The Beast is a Rezvani Roadster.
Strange to see a car in dyno without a big cool air blowing fan in front of the car.
Nice TDI Alex! I have a 14 Touareg TDI as a offorader/ weekend driver and i love the 420 ft lbs on tap stock I wonder how much power i can get with a chip tune. Fuel mileage is 30mpg highway 22 city
Alex, are you still planning on doing stage 3 water meth injection on this CDI?! I’m quite sure it would help clean up part of that black cloud pouring out of the exhaust pipe on the dyno!
Holy shit Alex, you look like those cars have been keeping you up at night. You need a shave and a good nights rest!
Oh, I noticed you shaved one minute into the video. Still need some sleep bro.
Haha, I know. I've been moving, working, making videos and taking care of the fam. It's been crazy.
Any car after 1996 outputs the tach signal on the OBD2 port. On older diesels with tachs there was an extra terminal on the alternator that can substitute for the distributor points signal.
Subbed! because nobody seems to tune cdi engines.
I'll be keeping an eye on the progress and looking for ways to improve my 350cdi.
Long Time Subscriber.. Question is regarding the EGR delete on the E320 CDI? What exactly do i have to do to delete the EGR and trick the computer as well so i dont get a limp mode? Thanks pal!
Awesome videos as always, I am hooked to your channel. Is the 30 mpg combined babying it or normal driving?
You can 30 combined easy if the weather is good. Since this video its been like -5 out and I sit in an hour of stop and go every day so I'm at 25 mpg but this is seriously worst case. I've done 43 mpg highway for a couple hundred miles at about 70-75 mph
Diesels rules
