- DO NOT Buy These 5 Mercedes Benz Luxury Cars!
Mercedes Benz is normally an amazing luxury car brand that's known for style, power, reliability, and luxury in most of their cars. There are some real issues though with these 5 worst Mercedes Benz luxury cars. You'll find some seriously unreliable cars, and a lot of talk about rust.
There are just certain #Mercedes #Benz #cars to avoid because of #reliability, and these are the ones I think you should watch out for.
We are always looking for supercars and supercar products to test, drive, and review, so if you would like to see your car, or product on our channel, please contact exoticcarplayplace@gmail.com

I don’t agree with the 210
And you forgot the W116,W126 and W140
W202 is listed as one of the 5 worst !
Had a W202 C200 I imported to Nigeria from Germany. I never had any issues with it, it was my first car and I sold it to my trusted friend about 15 years ago, he still owns it and it still runs like a dream.
Well You Was Very Lucky
Because the ones made in Germany are better made in quality then the ones given in America !! It’s a known fact!!
German cars like to be driven. It sounds like your friend is taking care of his baby.
@@dariusbrown8901 Or a very decent driver
@@cristimanea6673 he said Nigeria 😂 nobody drives wit “decent”
Had a 2000 V8, that I bought new. I kept it for 18 years. Tires/brakes, not much else for my many years of trouble free driving. Loved it.
That's it! One careful owner, that's how they and other brands last, no brainer
With 256,000 miles on my 1998 C230 Sport, non-Kompressor, my only regret is not getting the optional passenger power seat. I never thought I would own it for 23 years. Repairs, tires, belts, hoses, and maintenance cost around $600 a year, give or take. I got 13 years out of the original battery, and 10 years out of the second. It's a California car, still looks great, no rust, I treated the paint with a ceramic coating, and I perform all of the required maintenance on it. I'm told by my independent Mercedes mechanic that it's the last of the "forever" Mercedes, whatever that means.
I still own an r350 cdi and its great. Almost 600k km and still going strong. No rust, very few problems for the amount of time it was used and generally a great luxurious car.
Yeah, mine has 2 million klm, and goes perfect 👌
@@DavidMartinez-cq1fq 😂😂😂😂
It all depends on the handling. Once you buy, always read the operator manuals and adhere to instructions to safeguard from small problems that become worse with time.
I had many of those models and never had any of those problems .
Same
L
Did you have them when they were less than 10 years old?
Yea I bet you did, as in you leased them, had them for three years, and now are surprised why they didn't fall apart in front of you in the few years you had them
agree with you
We have owned two Mercedes-Benz W163s. The first was a 1999 ML320. The second was a 2002 ML500. The 1999 model did have power lock issues and the heater didn't work on the passenger side. Otherwise, the vehicle was reliable, fuel efficient and comfortable. We drove the 2002 ML500 about 133,000 trouble-free miles. We owned a 2008 ML320CDI and drove it about 133,000 reliable and fuel efficient miles. If we hadn't suffered extensive hail damage, we would have continued to enjoy the vehicle. We still own and enjoy our 2008 GL320CDI. It has delivered 187,000 trouble-free and comfortable miles. It is comfortable for long drives and delivers excellent fuel economy.
I still own a 2003 W163 ML500. Owned it since 2008. 232k miles and counting. It does have rust. The car radio and a few oil cooler line leaks but, never anything major. I’ll never sell it.
Use it to pull my boat. Easy to work on yourself easy to find parts and inexpensive to repair....Love the ML500!
I currently own two of the cars on you list. S500, and R500. I have had minimal issues over the years. The S500 did require suspension around 100K miles. No transmission problems, no rust and it is now 18 years old 190k miles. The R500 I replaced the air suspension around 70k miles. Other than the two batteries, no other problems. I live in Southern California, maybe that's why I dont deal with the rust.
Finally someone positive on (S500)..they buy cheap abused cars and come here to rant..take care of your car..and you will be happy..
I love my w220 500 and I dont have no rust
I've got a 03 s500 it does need suspension work still smooth tho. It's got 170 on it. Has rust and needs a tie rod but I think it's pretty great so far
I’ve had my R350 for 3 years and only had one problem with the air suspension. I love it. It’s unique and I don’t really mind having a car that doesn’t look like everything else on the road.
I driven a R 500 the ride was unforgettable. Unfortunately it had too many miles, I still think about buying one. All Mercedes that have the Airmatic ride will fail at some point. So that's a common problem
Replace them with coilovers , u wont need to worried bout the issues anymore , ride a little stiffed tho

For a reason, MB is taxi's almost all over the world. I own my MB nr:5 ( G-wagon, C-class, E-class, E-class, CLA), and today I have the CLA. Just follow the service-program, and take care of your car whatever brand it is. Best cars I ever have owned, with ZERO issues.
I agree with you . I owned many Mercedes and now own three SL Mercedes. Two R129s (95-96) and an R107(82) . I haven't had any real issues with any of them . I like this class and have stayed with it . I also like the E class .
The Mercedes was really engineered for the cold climates in Germany.
Same thing with my old W210 and W220.Top quality cars if well maintenanced, and cheap to own.
What about the paint peeling off? A four year old car ? C’m on. We are talking about Mercedes. An excessively over priced car.
W202 C-Class are actually epic in reliability and durability. My 1999 C230K is fast, rust-free and going strong with over 253,000 miles on the original drivetrain. Sure, little things have been problematic, but after 10 years of ownership, I would not hesitate to drive cross-country tomorrow.
My words exactly.
Oh I own a 1993 C180 automatic and the car is really great! It's fast, reliable, easy to drive - great car! These cars shouldn't be in this list.
My 1997 C230 has only 130k miles and is a gem. It looks exactly like the C280 in the video. When I hit the gas pedal the car takes off really fast. In fact it seems to have more power than my 2007 ML350. Other than the headliner and A/C blower motor which has to be to replaced, it has only required regular maintenance stuff like replace tires, battery, and tune-ups. I often get offers to sell my C230 because the interior and exterior is so clean.
Thank you. I love my 99 kompressor
Dude… I would give anything for that car again. My favorite car from the Benz.
I love the 2005 ML350 and 500 sports edition. No problems so far .
I've had a 2007 X164 GL450 for 13 years. Purchased Certified Preowned (CPO). It now has 240,000 miles on it. I've dealt with many of the issues you've discussed, but even when I add up all of the repair costs, it's been a cheap vehicle to keep over the long haul. I still use it to haul 2 boats that weigh over 5000 pounds. My wife and I use if for very long haul trips. It's never left me stuck on the side of the road. If you stay on top of them, they last forever.
It’s my baby. Same year. Mine is still running strong.
Thank you for your video. As a Mercedes owner of C Class vehicles for over thirty years I personally believe the biggest problems occur because people do not have their cars serviced on a regular basis. I owned two C Class cars for a total of nineteen years. Now, the service cost at the Mercedes dealer made me cry at times but I never had a problem with my cars driving 12,000 a year.
Well said!
I had a 2001 S430 that I bought off lease, so it was three years old. It had every problem you mentioned and a lot more. I traded it in for a Toyota Camry! I have a W204 and a W205 now and they’re much better cars. The W204 is of much better quality than the W205 though.
how’s the m177 c63 engine, split between an m3 or c63s
I was literally on the way to take my 2008 GL450 to the Mercedes-Benz shop for the third time this month as I was watching your video and you are absolutely correct if it's not one thing it's another
@tyree Ingram I feel your frustration... but hope your third visit breaks that trend and you get to enjoy the Big-G for an uninterrupted 12 month period at least :-)
Aside from the R-class, these cars are old AF! If they can survive this long, then I say it's reliable.
Agree most of these cars are VERY old anyway.I would not buy a car older than say 10 years even on a “bargain”.
Reliability has nothing to do with how long a cars survives. If you're spending enough money on repairs you can make a unreliable car last until you get tired of it or go broke.
Toyota/Lexus outlast your life. LOL
Nope. The list is very correct, it's just missing W210 E-class that would deserve its shameful position on this list. 20 years ago it was abad mistake for an owner of still fresh W124 to trade such magnificent car to crap like W210. None of these are worth the star.
I have W204, pre-restyling, diesel engine, 5 speed automatic transmission and it is reliable car. It is best C-class ever in my opinion. Had it for two years with no single issue.
I got my 2008 Merc Benz at 33km had an amazing run.
Only thing on mine the tail light circuit boards burnt out on both sides.
I just spent $1000 on brakes after 3 years.
Just normal basic things like brakes and tires.
Amazing vechicle cheap to run.
I like how you show a current gen C class that most people drive, but the video is about 20 year old Benzes that nobody drives anymore. Of course their going to have problems their all 5-6 owner 100k+ miles.
I still drive my 2001 ML. plenty of people drive older models.
If you want to buy a Mercedes, just buy made in Stuttgart...and give yourself peace of mind.
The W220 was made in Stuttgart?
@@vroomvroombrian1372 No,in Sindelfingen.And it´s a great car.Not all are rusty,either.
yup.
What if my MB was made in yerboodee?
I’ve had two c280, one e320, two e350 4matics. They were all SPECTACULAR vehicles!
How do you remove the back seat ofa2013 e 350 Mercedes Benz
Me too, but mine was the right hand drive version. Awesome car, and I miss it for its power, and reliability + none of the typical rusting.
I got a 2011 E class wagon, and literally drove it through an 8 hour snow storm from Chicago to Michigan. On the other hand, had to fully replace the air intake manifold, but at 120,000 miles something is bound to need replacing. Plus I could do it myself, these cars arent hard to work on(im not a mechanic).
190e was a wonderful, solid Merc that's now achieving classic status & of course had a model breathed upon by Cosworth.
The 190e was an awesome underrated sleeper hotrod
the greatest carmaker on earth
Awesome video and great information!
Thank you very much
Interesting video - But note that none of these 5 cars reviewed are even remotely near the current range. I own a 2017 (current shape) AMG E43 which is simply sensational. The build quality, ride, torque, power, tech and comfort levels are beyond the BMW's, Land Rover and Jaguar I have owned in the last 20 years. Mercedes is clearly back and a very strong luxury competitor again.
Never have seen a W220 in Germany with so much rust. All ML exported to Europe were comletely new build in Bremen, because of the unexecptable qualtiy. In Germany the w202 is known as one of the best build cars from Mercedes
Thanks for mention specifically the generation of the models too rather than broadly categorize the entire series. For example, the W163 series ML is much different than the 2015 ML version of Mercedes Benz, which looks almost identical to the 2016 GLE. The W222 S class definitely made more improvement than the W220 S class.

Thanks a lot. Much appreciated
He isnt lying about the w251 rclass. Ive owned 2 my 1st one was great. The one I have now is currently getting the transmission repaired at 136000 miles. Transmission is known to go bad on Rclass. Replaced MAF, replaced intake manifold, replaced fuel pump and still check engine light code P085. Best benz ive owned was the w219 cls550.

W140's are special. Love my '97 s320. Almost 300k on the dial and that inline 6 stills purs like a kitten.
I have that ML320 4MATIC V6 and my friend as at the time bought a BMW X5 V8, whenever we are traveling his car always had an issue with too many problems, he had since sold that X5 as wayback at 2010, mine is still there rocky, look, No car is as durable, rugged and classic as Mercedes Benz in any brand, I guess you're sponsor to do this damage to Mercedes Benz but for us that use Mercedes Benz, is the best in the world

couple sets brake pads. Very dependable.
Good video! Very informative! Just the thumb nail was misleading ....I thought maybe newer Mercedes were on this list!!
I still have a 2006 ML 350. (140,000 K miles) Not many problems as you described here. No rust on mine. I keep it in the garage, it looks new.. Yours looks trashed here. Sad. I have owned 4 Mercedes and they have saved my wife's life twice. Very safe cars. Best of luck to you tho. Lots of negatives here. I know no car is perfect but Mercedes have been good to us.
Thanks for sharing Ron. Yes we have had some issues and overall not too impressed but if a person has a good experience then that’s what matters most.
Please does your ml 350 2006 4matic have issues especially on cam shaft as I used to hear?
W202 C-Class in Morocco has a very good reputation, it's an icon.
My W202 remains solid after 23 years. I couldn't ask for a stronger or cheaper car to drive. Last week I used it like a truck to haul 800 kilos of sod, tools, and construction materials. This week it's cleaned up, shinny, and will be ready to haul people around. I still get complements on it, but I've kept up the maintenance.
I think the C class W202 was a very good car quality wise. 10 times more robust and better finished than the BMW E36 of the same period.

Glad my beloved old German built E350 W211 2006 wasn’t mentioned ;-)) Awesome that she still has zero rust but has had several well known other issues! Regardless, well maintained it is always an absolute joy to drive-especially when returning after driving nearly anything else at all :-)
You think nothing should ever go wrong on any Mercedes? Sure! Just like good ol' American cars - there are good ones and bad ones! I've relied largely on older (10-20y/o) MBs to get my family around for the last ten years - only had to put one on a truck so far - and that one was 27 years old and at 315000km at the time!
I've been hearing that the ML onto the GLE had been pretty solid...
Though that bit about the same generation S Class means that some early 2000s QC issues hit Benz, too... along with a bunch of other auto makers.
Still like the GLE, though... have it on a particular wishlist.
Very nice

Two happy days in a Mercedes Benz C300 owners opinion. The day you get it and the day you get rid of it.
All these models were released during the disastrous Daimler-Chrysler period, quality was compromised over profits. So anything from 1995 - 2007 is rubbish. Benz have gone back to their engineering roots starting with the w204 c class onwards
For sure and they have. watch improved on everything.
Not sure about all of the W202 c classes, but I would love to own that v8 c43 amg you showed in your video lol.
That's one, hot, future collector car. Only 500 imported to the U.S.
First Gen 63 liter engine 1998-2010, had faulty head bolts that would corrode to the point of failure which could result in complete engine failure. It also had hard lifters that would cause premature cam wear.
I sill own my ML w163 since 2004 and is the best car ever I had and I will never sell it. Maybe I will now consider the GLE or GLS, but I am still reluctant to change it. Never got issues you mentioned. I leave in mountain with lot of snow and the performance is unbeatable comparing to most other similar car I had or I have tried.

I think it was a pretty fly design...especially if you trying to hold on to your coolness while being a soccer ⚽️ dad at the same time 😂. But then I’m a big lover of anything that resembles a shooting break design 😆✌🏾❗️
I drive the 2002 ML500, 343,882 and still runs like a champ. Yeah it’s had its issues , but this is the easiest vehicle to work on. Seriously the easiest vehicle to work on.

In perfect condition.
I just put in an 800 watt power amplifier to the original Becker radio along with a digital music light display unit where the cassette holder is also a dual 3.0 USB charger.
Mine has the head light wipers .
I'm looking into a turbo charger for this engine so I won't need a 6 cylinder.
do you just show up at mercedes dealerships parking lots and trash their cars 🤣

Something tells me He goes to their factories and warehouses also. Lol
