I ordered this bad boy earlier today at about 1 o'clock. I found it for the low at Amazon for less than $109....while actually waiting for the Hasbro Platinum Amazon exclusive Predaking to go down. I couldn't believe it! The Takara 2010 reissue from Japan for around the same price! Thing's usually $200 or more plus shipping............smiling as I type & wait for Saturday.
My favorite combiner teams were the Constructicons, the Predacons, the Protectobots and the Technobots because their colour schemes match and their gestalt modes are not a mismatch of colours, like the Combaticons or the Stunticons are. Predaking is my favorite.

This is by far the best set of G1s ever made pre Victory line. I have the complete 86 set in perfect condition, but I may have to buy this one too despite my anti encore buying habits. Nothing against encore, I just like the buy the real G1s.
I bought the Hasbro Platinum BBTS Shared Exclusive of the reissue Predacons/Predaking back in late February 2014. They are awesome indeed! I will buy this particular set again. BTW, another great review, Mitch! G1 Always!
Love Predaking. I pieced one together about a year and a half ago. I do not have all the individual guns, but I have a sword and his arm cannon. I also have one of DIvebombs guns, but need the other, because they are supposed to be on the wings pointing up in combined mode. Hopefully one day soon I will find the other LOL

Don't know if already posted, on Headstrong you have to rotate the red "shoes" down so that they are even with the bottom of the feet. Both flat surfaces will match up. Rotate the extra "heel" down in the middle and he should stand on his own. Mine does anyways.
You could totally name a band "Mitch Santona and the Predacons" and it would rock. Hard. Even if they played nothing but polkas. Oh yeah! Thanks for the look.
Hello, I have a question about your review - you said that Headstrong doesn't stand up, he is backheavy - where is his little black "tail" from rhino mode? I remember it was positioned directly between the back of his feet, where his heels are in robot mode, and that it stopped him tipping. Does the reissue of Headstrong not have this built-in tail component?

The Platinum Edition of Predaking have some die-cast parts and a sword that is a gold redeco of the Star Saber from Beast Hunter Voyager Class Optimus Prime. But i don't understand one thing. The Decepticon Subgroup is called 'Predacons'. But why are Tantrum and Headstrong in the group? They are no carnivores. Tantrum is a Water Buffalo and Headstron a Rhino. And those two animales are Herbivores. The rest of the group are carnivores: a Lion (Razorclaw), an eagle (Divebomb) and a panther (Rampage).
Now ebay now there are two vsellers, selling them about for a 30-40 $ You could take a look, but I don't know how much will be shipping to the America, but you can find that out by contacting those guys :) Maybe free!

I have a Takara reissue of the Predacons with the Japanese writing on the box, and I have to say, quality-wise, the die-cast metal beats the original G1 plastic robots.
I'd like to see Headstrong and the Autobot cassette Ramhorn go head to head in an all-out battle, since they both turn into rhinos. I wonder who would win?

i dont know who i liked more out of piranacon or predaking...both were freakin awesome toys. i love the reviews, takes me down memory lane.

My headstrong’s stand just fine. there is a tab that needs to be extended out and you had the red pieces on side of legs misttansformed
