Still haven't opened mine, but I just love the sound the Predacons make from the die-cast contact to wooden table. The only Transformer G1 combiner with all five virtually the same mass & height......just mean!
this guy is a grail of mine. initially i didnt like the gold paint, preferring the yellow plastic, but it really looks gorgeous. hey hasbro! if youre listening, ake us a classics predaking!
the G1 Predaking is one of the biggest transformers, along with Armada Unicron, Generations Metroplex, Beast Hunters Ultimate Class Predaking and Optimus prime, etc.
1. Razorclaw's robot mode toes can be flipped out and under the crotch piece to help keep Predaking from bending down at the thighs from the massive weight of the figure. 2. In robot mode, the front legs on both Rampage and Razorclaw and fold up over their shoulders to keep the shoulders from retracting. 3. Speaking of retracting shoulders, I typically have Razorclaw's arms at a forward and down 45 degree angle to keep them from retracting in combined mode.
4. I typically put Tantrum on the same side as Divebomb because he's a much wider, more kibbly leg than Headstrong. I do this because Divebomb has outward shoulder movement and can easily move out of the way when posing. 5. Headstrong's leg port is lower than Tantrum's. You can slide him up on his leg slider to even out Predaking. 6. On mine, Rampage's waist joint was SUPER tight, so I took him apart and clipped the spring. Interesting to note, the ratchet mechanism is OILED.
I found Rampage at a garage sale when I was maybe 6 or 7, and I couldn't for the life of me figure out ANYTHING about it (this was before I had discovered the intenet). I'd realized it was most likely a Transformer, but's that all I could ever figure out. It didn't have any weapons of add-ons; it was just the figure. I had no clue was the arm-post in his back was for. Glad I finally get to see. Also, Hasbro needs to make a PCC set based on these guys. Just someone to match up with the Dinobots.
Wow. I had forgotten how big these guys were - I was somehow thinking they were another Scramble City-type of combiner set. Were the original G1 Predacons released after most of the Scramble City sets had been released?
@Barricade2171 it would depened where you got it from. i herd the bbts (bigbadtoystore) wharehouse was in wisconsin so it would be that much from there commparied to the rest your welcom
@deraifu it actually was being designed for something like that which is why the colour scheme is so garish compared to the other gestalts of G1 and it is also why the proportions of the singular robot modes are slightly odd. Anyway long story short it was cancelled from that and because at the time takara tomy was doing transformers in Japan they just copied it over with I imagine a few modifications
Has anyone else had any QA problems with this set? The right arm of my divebomb is split like the screws are lose, and the stickers on my Headstrong are pealing. Only got the thing on Friday! Trying to decide, if I should just fix it, or try to replace.
Heya Peaugh. I see you got him. Nice BTW real quick to help with your balancing Headstrong. There is a Triangular plastic piece on the back of the figures right in between his legs towards his feet. Just pull it out and he will balance like a champ. In theory anyhow. Other than that excellent review. I am getting mine tomorrow.
Just ordered THIS Predaking from Amazon today at about 1pm........$122.80, shipping included!!! I'm only excited because it's the 2010 reissue from Takara. Who doesn't favor Takara's Transformers over Hasbro's????
Very nice, would have preferred a review that was split into two parts so you had time to go over a few things because it all seemed rushed and you missed some parts that would have been sweet to see, but it was an ok review, and I love Predaking.
My Divebomb have the same problem with the right fist. All you need to do is angle the fist correctly from the front, and then pull the notch, that should work...
Yes u may have heard it on TFSource's review of this very iteration of Predaking. They also suppose that (potentially) being Autobots could be the reason for the Predacons' bright, warm colors...
CORRECTION Big warning about Tantrum(!) in this set. If the neckjoints feels really tight don't touch it. I transformed mine and the goddamn neckjoint just snapped on me. I transformed it exactly how it's supposed to and it just broke. Takara really messed up here they should've used metal instead of that very weak plastic bar. I e-mailed Robotkingdom and i am hoping for a replacement cause this set cost me 260 Euro after import tax. I really coulden't be more disappointed and furious.
i wish hasbro would remake this figure using latest articulation technology ..back then these figures can only have 4 articulation joints...for a figure so cool, it is sad. instead, hasbro bring us another 3 headed dragon and simply calls it Predaking... =.="
I had the previous reissue and the only way that I regret selling is that I sold him when the prices weren't high so I just covered my losses and no profit. To me, it's a very overrated set. Nevertheless, this new version with the gold paint looks very, very good. (Maybe I'll try to get a Divebomb, the only figure I liked from the set, and paint him gold myself.)
Still haven't opened mine, but I just love the sound the Predacons make from the die-cast contact to wooden table.

This is one of best G1 combiners so this is awesome reissue.
I am getting this very soon, can't wait. Excellent review as always.
Great review, again Peaugh. Keep up the good work.

I've seen a review somewhere on optional after market wings but never really seen the review of Predaking! Beautiful figure!!
the G1 Predaking is one of the biggest transformers, along with Armada Unicron, Generations Metroplex, Beast Hunters Ultimate Class Predaking and Optimus prime, etc.
Hey, Peaugh, on Headstrong, between his heels is a piece you can flip out to counter his backheavyness. Or, at least it was there on the last reissue.
1. Razorclaw's robot mode toes can be flipped out and under the crotch piece to help keep Predaking from bending down at the thighs from the massive weight of the figure.

another excellent review, i hope you will get the crazydevy add ons and do reviews with them on the 2010 preds
awesome review as always Peaugh, honest opinion which looks better yellow or gold.

Does the shade of orange plastic have a slight metallic sheen compared to the original?
@Barricade2171 it would depened where you got it from. i herd the bbts (bigbadtoystore) wharehouse was in wisconsin so it would be that much from there commparied to the rest your welcom
Thanks for the vid, helped me put him together. Found the Japanese version at a retro shop
cant believe its been 14 years...
You have convinced me to acquire one.
@deraifu it actually was being designed for something like that which is why the colour scheme is so garish compared to the other gestalts of G1 and it is also why the proportions of the singular robot modes are slightly odd. i love this set i said to my parents if i am only going to get one thing for christmas i will get this
I watched this before, I dont really like this figure, but Im watching it again because I subscribed to Peaugh.
the whole set is made of diecast? or just some of his parts?
nice vid!!
Love this video
Just ordered my almost 9 years later LOL..."Cheers"
I was between this and masterpiece optimus prime I picked prime but now i really want this guy he's AWESOME!!!
I bet there'll be powercore combiners based on these guys eventually
Just ordered THIS Predaking from Amazon today at about 1pm........$122.80, shipping included!!!

are they metal?? srry if u did say it in the review my sound doesnt work right now
I can't believe I'm getting the American version 3 years later at like a third the price
is each sword different???
I have yet to see a combiner with each transformable/robot parts have smooth articulation instead of stiff limbs.
please tell me do they have gps you know golp plastic syndrome
7. I have the re-release of the MMPR Dinozord and its sword is PERFECT for Predaking, except that it's very drab and gray.
Very nice, would have preferred a review that was split into two parts so you had time to go over a few things because it all seemed rushed and you missed some parts that would have been sweet to see, but it was an ok review, and I love Predaking.
2 whole pounds of g1 awesomeness. I love this figure.
My Divebomb have the same problem with the right fist. All you need to do is angle the fist correctly from the front, and then pull the notch, that should work...
@DragoTear1 yes
at 13:35, i think you meant to say put Divebomb's guns on Rampage. Not Rampage on Rampage. Sorry, a minor nit pick =D
Am I recalling something I read correctly that the Predacons were originally intended to be Autobots?
Yes u may have heard it on TFSource's review of this very iteration of Predaking. They also suppose that (potentially) being Autobots could be the reason for the Predacons' bright, warm colors...
i think they were to be called the animal bots or something
I get a power rangers vibe from it, but I do want this.

Wow all the gold looks great. You put the legs on the wrong side
i wish hasbro would remake this figure using latest articulation technology ..back then these figures can only have 4 articulation joints...for a figure so cool, it is sad.

@hthvjd
i think you mean dinobots
if that peak kia doesn't transform it doesn't belong at the beginning of this vid!
Rampage is a tiger not a panther
Want!!!!!!!!!!!!!;D
Really unfortunate placement of the tail of Razorclaw. If you forget to flip it up it looks like something else.
I had the previous reissue and the only way that I regret selling is that I sold him when the prices weren't high so I just covered my losses and no profit.

2:59-3:40 peaugh gets mad lol
Why are these guys so expensive!? I could buy 20 deluxes instead of this!!
6th
1st :D
