Man, this brings back memories! I remember getting the Aerialbot gift pack for Christmas when I was in the 7th or 8th grade. I would combine them into Superion and put him on my bookshelf right next to Devastator and Jetfire. Good times! The Transformers played a huge part in my youth.

The First and only transformer my dad ever bought me was Air Raid, I used this video yesterday to remind him (he's 70 lol), we had a good laugh because I remember telling him the figure was like 8.99 and he wasn't happy about it, then we get to the counter and it was actually 12.99 lmao, he bought it for me to save face at the counter.
Mitch: he looks a little like a folded up robot.
Me: he IS a folded up robot!
Just picked one up, G1. Amazing how well these toys were made in the 80's. They still click together and hold! About 2 inches taller than Devastator G1.
As far as I can remember the only 2 Aerialbots I had growing up were Silverbolt and FireFlight I never had Slingshot SkyDive or AirRaid and that really sucked.

Mitch, the Aerialbot combining team is awesome! Although I never owned the Aerialbots as a youngster, I will get a remake set of them in the near future. Will you do a review on the Dinobots and the Technobots as well?

I’m pretty sure there was only one concord, oh man, silver bolt makes 2... did you know there’s a video of the Concorde flying over the twin towers? Two marvels of engineering, both gone from horrible events.
I bought a Reissue g1 Aerialbot/Superion giftset off of Amazon back in January 2014. Another superb review, Mitch.
Air Raid's a 1973 F-15 Eagle, Fireflight's a F4 Phantom, Slingshot's a Harrier, Skydive's a 1977 F-16 and Silverbolt's a Concorde

I asked for the Aerialbots gift set from Santa at the mall 3 years in a row. After not receiving it for 3 years in a row, I came to the realization that either I was a bad kid or Santa didn’t exist. 😂
The Easter after that 3rd year mom said,”Let’s go see what the Easer bunny brought.”
I replied with, “Mom, there is no Santa and no Easter bunny.”
Then she asked how I knew that and I told her the above story. 🤷♂️

I have to agree with the other comment. Throw Back Thursday is awesome!! Arielbots were cool in the 80's. I had the black plane. Never was able to collect the rest of them. Ty for sharing :)

I used to have the Arielbots. Amazing. Hidden in the toy box, down in my parents celler is Air Raid.
I only had slingshot and Silverbolt but I loved them. I was just wondering why I chose Slingshot when you said he had the most screentime and I realised that must have been the reason. lol I thought Silverbolt was one of the last really well made G1 toys with all his diecast and good proportions and everything. Great review man, haven't looked at these TF's in years. :-)

He's a great combiner, one of the few I had as a kid compete. Just managed to pick one up for £16 on ebay to replace the one I sold years ago :-D

when you walk through the air and space museum in DC, just go through all the jet transformers in your head... it kinda increases the fun factor
Nice Throwback :) I had this guy as a kid, then, a few years back had a KO Version, very crappy...Now, there are only two of the jets in our collection, Silverbolt and Slingshot, and they are both my wifes lol. BTW, Silverbolt, in any incarnation, is one of her favorite characters...after Starscream :P

Fun fact, my first ever "G1" Transformer was a knockoff G1 Skydive! I loved that figure to the depths of my heart, even after I broke off its Wings, arms, and lost its corresponding Superion helmet.

I had silverbolt when I was a kid but never got my hands on the others.
The head of Superion is just awesome!!
Silverbolt is one of Only 2 G1 toys I still had as of 5 years ago and though I am not a big fan of g1(throw your stones now) toys he was great
G1 the original and by a country mile the best.
fun to watch. i'm going to go get my boxset and mess with them.. been years. i'm buying the new combiner wars stuff now....which is great so far. Surely a great Silverbolt robot mode compared to the old. So excited about this homage of Arielbots/Stunticons. love the size now. cool. Afraid of getting KO stuff now. I've always wanted/want the stuticon's boxset but will probably go with a stated KO just to keep from getting one anyway for a higher price.

Slingshot is indeed a Hawker Harrier "Jump-jet" and the fact that he has a 'tude in the cartoon series has everything to do with that.
Because Slingshot has VTOL (vertical take off and landing) capabilities it sets him apart from the others but he's also the slowest, most difficult to fly and the most vulnerable. A Harrier has no aerodynamic properties, you can't glide with it, if the engine fails, it falls out of the sky.
So Slingshot hides his fear by being brash and unpleasant.

Just curious to know why all the combiners that came after Devastator were in sets of 5 instead of 6 like the Constructicons were. It also seems the arms and legs for all combiners after Devastator were interchangeable. I wonder if Hasbro saw the limitations they had with Devastator and tried to figure out how they could improve upon it with future combiners.

Hasbro didn't start making there own toys till the 3rd year of transformers
Also Devastator has longhaul plus Hook for the chest, Hook being the upper half and head with Longhaul as lower body.
The torso-4 limb teams are not all that creative on the surface compared to the imagination it took to make Devastator (even with it's limits), but there is a reason for it. The idea was that the six that followed Devastator had a "free combination" gimmick as Takara would have called it. The idea seems silly, but was practical for kids who could only buy toys on pocket money; whatever 4 limbs you got regardless of team or faction can go to any torso, promising the ability to easily host a combiner of some kind. It's also why the limbs can be either legs or arms.

i have a set of Airial bots, sure on most the nose and tail(s) are coming off but they do stay on if im careful and he still becomes Superion ...and like your Defensor, he doesnt stand by himself :/ still awesome tho, they are the closest things i have to G1 toys and they have been well played with

This guy was my favorite character in the transformer, because finally they can fly, after seeing transformers prime's , wish the auto bots would change to air crafts, airplane characters are always larger than the vehicle character
