Both of them are deeply disturbed individuals. Gotham forged them to become what they did. Bruce grew up clinging to the moment his parents were murdered. Maybe Joker(who was deffo not Wayne rich), had to face much disturbing things everyday.

I don't understand the upset about this character's transformation. The classic story, The Killing Joke, shows a man's decent into madness.
So now everyone is into the dark DC tone but so many have been complaining for years that DC is too dark and should be more like Marvel....smh. Dark is what makes DC unique. That’s their signature look. And I love it
Diana Muniz absolutely, I think it’s great to have both. DC and Marvel have different audiences and it should remain like that, or else it gets boring because all universes look the same.

Nope, Dark doesn't work for all characters. People love Joker for being a disturbing lunatic that sometimes makes a good point? His character is supposed to be dark like Batman. But Superman shouldn't be dark and if no one complained about it, they might've made dark and brooding movies for Wonder Woman, Aquaman and Shazam as well.

@@MugdhaMahdiShams There have been a lot of great dark Superman stories. He doesn't always have to be Christopher Reeves. MoS-BvS-Justice League part 1&2 was building to him being the boyscout. We were watching his journey but it was cut short.

Damn, I was exhausted just watching the trailer. Good lord, this movie looks stressful, in a good way.
The kid actor who Joaquin sees behind the gate is playing Bruce Wayne. The voiceover who is talking about whoever is wearing a mask is coward on the television is Thomas Wayne....

@Jorge Molina No. You see him dying his hair and putting on makeup, like Heath Ledger's Joker.
This is a character study for a meek person, who's been told he needs to bring joy to the world, but has never been able to find it himself "the sad clown".
You can see that he always paints the smile on his face "not because he's always smiling as Heath Ledger's Joker", but quite the opposite, because he can never smile.
Even him laughing to the other stand up comedian, is a forced laugh, because he's trying to make others feel good.
The relationship with the mom will be pivotal in the story and it's quite possible that she's in Arkham - hence why he's taking care of her.
Him being bullied by Gotham and being surrounded by crazy people may be the reason to start losing it.
You can see even his posture in the beginning is very humble and small, while once he starts finding the funny side of life, he becomes confident and commanding attention and authority. It's also interesting the the first time he truly seems to smile is the moment he becomes the Joker.
Personally, I feel this is a great character study for the Joker and we don't really need Batman or other universe characters to show up.
Batman, is the hero Gotham deserves.
Joker, may end up being the villain Gotham created. (deserves)

"Run that thing back." Haha yep that was my immediate reaction after my first viewing. So dark, grim, beautifully shot, and personal. This is what I expected from an origin film for the character.
This is intended to be more psychological....and there's no other way a Joker film SHOULD be.

KING slayer the quality of the villian isn’t reflected in their kill count. You can bring up a ton of argument. From strength , kill count, and how iconic the character is. In the case of the most iconic . Obviously joker. The joker is one of the greatest characters ever created and one of if not thee most iconic villain ever.

My hope is that the structure of the film is based on the Joker being an unreliable narrator. Like, during the 3rd act we see that the events played out differently than what he remembers/wants the audience to believe.
Yup, I'm hoping the story goes in that direction and the ending will show things weren't exactly as they "seemed".
I’m expecting a slight Birdman approach where the deeper he gets into his new life the more delusions he has and they’re presented as if they may or may not be real.
I was kind of hoping that the "joke" being played is the press that this is an "origin" story. I would much prefer that the Arthur Fleck character is the disguise Joker puts on to mingle in society, like Superman plays Clark Kent. There's that shot of Arthur approaching Arkham. What better way to gain easy access to a psychiatric hospital than to play an emotional unstable schmuck? God only knows what he could do with all that crazy therein, all those crazies.

This is an elseworld story so no commection to the main Joker of the comics what so ever. It's just a new version of Joker. I'm just happy that DC just introduced parellal universes/multiverses/elseworlds with thisovie & no one is talking about it. This movie can open a sluew of elseworld movies from DC comics.

yup. i love it. Plus the actual films within the Universe won't even be boxed into this universal tone or genre. Shazam, BoP, WW84, SS2, and Batman will all be quite unique.
Fun thing is.. it's an origin story of the Joker, that still doesn't give away what actually happened. His origin is still a mistery even after this film.

When I first watched the trailer my organic reaction was "Wow, I'm watching it again". I have watched quite a few reactions to this trailer so far and yours was the first to watch it again, which in my opinion allows you to absorb a lot more of what is actually happening.. KUDOS.. great job.

VexaEnvy I’m sorry but avengers movies are always extremely overrated. I doubt endgame will be better than joker. The lead actor in the joker is a better actor than literally anyone in the mcu.
Clearance Rack the mcu has become painfully mundane to me. It’s always the same sort of humor that destroys any seriousness in the story just for a quick chuckle from the audience that eats up anything they put out just because it’s marvel. Pretty sick of it tbh. This looks like an actual film with character and tone and directing. Can’t wait.

I don't mind seeing and feeling the tragedy of the Joker's descent into madness. But by the end of this film, I must regain the feeling that this villain is a POS and why he is the best villain ever.
I love that stair scene,at the beginning of the trailer.It's something like he's hanging to his sanity.And at the end,on the same stairs,he downfalls into insanity so easily,embracing his true self.

New to the channel, but I really like how the guy furthest on the right (Gordon, I think?) articulates and analyzes stuff. In general I like how you guys seem to handle reaction videos more than most channels, because you analyze it rather than just saying "I'm excited for it" and that being it.
All of your breakdowns are insightful and on-point. Thus far this is the JOKER movie that I wanted; and I love how they're using the "we help mold the monsters we fear most" angle. I hope this film delivers.
All this laughing, gestures, and dancing that his doing is him preparing himself for his final performance; where we got a preview of him dancing behind the curtain about to perform(Robert De Niro seems to be the host). Even on the train he is practicing his laugh and everything. In this trailer he was in full costume in the elevator with a little smirk just as he was in the teaser trailer with casual clothes. That's my theory, what do you think?

This doesn’t feel like a superhero/villain movie. It feels like a very REAL movie in the fact that there’s a lot of factors that can tip the right individual right off of the deep end. Society creates the monsters that prey on them. I LOVE how it’s not oh he fell into a vat of acme crazy sauce and BAM!! Super villain!! It’s the story of a man who’s susceptible to becoming out of touch to deal with reality but trying to keep a lid on it who’s just pushed past his limit. It’s relatable on many levels.

I think that was a very unfair statement to make when you said that u didnt want to see another movie where a guy becomes the villain because of bullying because youve seen it already. This movie is based off of comic books and in those books, The Joker came about because he had a very bad day. His philosophy is that anyone can be a villain if given the right tragedy. If a movie is based on a true story or is being made from a particular source material, which is what made the person who he or she is, then you cant say that you dont want to see a movie that based off of its own source material.

Joker is the greatest comic book villain of all time. Far and beyond what Thanos could become. Here’s why:
Thanos is a warrior. His schtick is he kills others because of some “righteous” cause. He has his followers that join him on his quest. He’s not insane, per se, but he’s definitely misguided and he’s only bad when he kills others. But let me ask this, does qualify him to be full blown evil? No. Again, very much misguided but not what I say makes him the most evil because he does want to get rid of those that might actually be bad.
The Joker, on the other hand, is far more sinister. He’s killed people, yes, but that’s not the only thing he does. What makes him so iconic is he’s able to make the most innocent and righteous person evil. He mixed lies with the truth, while getting others who are also bad on his side. He also is able to convince others that good people, like BATMAN, to be seen as a monster. Most importantly, he does it all without super powers nor some ancient artifacts, like the Infinity Gauntlet and Stones (like Thanos).
Thanos can’t come close to the madness and the insidious nature of the Joker. This movie will establish how he becomes the baddest of the bad in all of comic books. I’m psyched for this, and I know this will be good.
