just one bad day to make you an Edge Lord in the eyes of incels everywhere. Jokes aside, Joker is one of my favorite villains out there and I think Joaquin Phoenix will likely knock it out of the park.
Arthur Fleck is not supposed to be a good guy who turned bad. He's human. He was never a good guy in the superhero sense of the word but rather a decent person who'd just happened to have lost his soul along the way. This is why the film is a character study. A decent person who isn't perfect starts to unravel until his breaking point came.
So you're saying it's more acceptable when someone who is rich goes crazy but unacceptable if you're poor and crazy? Well then. No reason to help the rich then if that is society's standard.
Phoenix performance shown in the trailer isn't even generic, you don't know what he's thinking, his emotion, he looks completely out of it. Ledger would be proud!
'66 - Caesar Romero - LSD '89 - Jack Nicholson - Cocaine '08 - Heath Ledger - Heroin '16 - Jared Leto - Crystal Meth '19 - Joaquin Phoenix - ......anti-depressants. The cinematic Jokers truly DO embody the drug of the era.
My guess on the elevator scene is he's at the hospital on this elevator either going to see his mother (who will pass away shortly thereafter), or she's just passed away and he's taking the elevator out, and this patient on the gurney is further adding to the boiling point that the audience is sitting on the edge of their seats waiting to see. But that's just my thoughts 🤷🏼♂️
Actually, in the trailer you could see that he has a medicine bottle near his desk when he was writing down on that paper. So my guess is that this joker sufferes from depression and Arkam is where he goes to pick up his medication. The scene where he asks the black dude "What" looks like him about to pick up his medication and then something happened even furthering his issues. Like if hes now unable to get the medicine he needs for his depression or whatever he might have.
@@tyewilliams7113 Whoa, I completely missed the medicine bottle. Seriously nice observation and a well put together theory that I can see fitting the narrative of this movie entirely.
If you notice, at the beginning of the trailer, when he's walking up the stairs, he's hunched over and looks beaten by the world, a defeated man going about his life, but at the end, when the transformation is complete, he is dancing up the stairs, having the time of his life. You can notice the gradual shift from defeated man, trying to get by in life to maniac detached from reality who's finally become the Clown Prince we all know and love....
he's dancing down the stairs. That could be symbolism. While he's trying to be good and climbing up the society ladder, it's not working for him. But the descent to the underbelly of the world is what's making him feel real good.
They might be able to save Leto's Joker after all. I thought maybe in the next movie have Phoenix's Joker go up against Batman, kidnaps Robin (Jason Todd) breaks him physically and mentally pushing Batman to breaking his code and killing Joker. Plot twist - Todd becomes Leto Joker explaining why Batman is happy to kill baddies but hasn't killed Leto Joker yet because he's wracked with guilt and wants to save him. Leto Joker could be very interesting then.
@@DeepbloodFang I don't really want to see Drake's Joker Junior. When Todd came back he adopted Joker's former Red Hood identity but I wonder what would happen if he didn't recover psychologically and adopted the Joker identity instead. @Creative Dreams honestly a decent man becoming an unhinged lunatic is a lot more scary than an already cold criminal becoming even more of a criminal leader. Not as much of a jump there. I always like the idea of joker being a good man that became what we know because that much of a personality switch is what is frightening and makes you wonder about the rest of humanity and how easily it could be for anyone else to completely loose themselves in the right situation.
The guy on tv is Thomas wayne .... The kid is Bruce wayne in his manor!!!! there will gonna be something very big in this movie and it will changed the concept like was in the comics,is it the Joker son of Thomas wayne and older Bruce wayne brother? As far i know Thomas wayne had an affair with Arthur Fleck moms because shes working at the time in the wayne manor...this movie will gonna promissed
Nah. That'd make Joker a old man by the time Bruce becomes Batman. I'm guessing Batman is just starting off, hence the reference at the end of the trailer when someone is saying "a man hiding behind a mask doing whatever he wants"
@@TheOther-Dude the mask quote is most likely talking about the Joker as the scene that follows is him literally throwing a mask away. And it couldn't be referring to Batman because that's Thomas Wayne talking on the TV, unless I misunderstood.

It's the first movie in a series of standalones movies, outside the DCEU continuity (if that still exists). Honestly, it's probably the best move made by WB+DC in a long time, since they have much better stories than Marvel (if we're really honest, the majority of good Marvel stories were about the X-Men). By focusing on standalones movies, that don't need to to be tied to anything else, the focus can be on just telling a great story, like Nolan did with Batman.
Wish Master 55 mill is s low budget for a movie this huge. Deadpool 1’s budget was low and it had 58mil. Standard blockbuster movie budget would be 90-120mil. Aquaman had 160mil Shazam had 90mil
Clearly a dramatic origin story, and I'm very excited to see it. I like fun and jokey feel good comic movies, but there's nothing wrong with giving depth and detail to the darkness which inhabits these universes. It's not going to be for everyone, but I suspect it is going to be a great movie for it's genre.

Warner Bros. should be applauded for being intrepid enough to depart from the tried and true comic book formula. From the trailer, it looks like they are really trying to do a character piece with this Joker origin story. For every massive blockbuster that comes out, pertaining to a comic book character, smaller intimate films like this should also come out as a counterbalance. This way, not only will you capture a sizable segment of the movie going audience who dismisses comic book films as the stuff of juvenile fantasy, but you will also garner serious consideration for the genre from the movie critic community.
Joaquin Pheonix sure lost a lot of weight for his role as Joker. His tranformation and determination to portray an iconic villain is amazing. I don't think there's no better person to portray the Joker than him. :)
@@Commander_Shepard. perhaps the ledger joker saw the joaquin as a role model growing up. "gotham deserves a better class of criminal" he remembered a better class of criminal and tries to bring it back.
@@Commander_Shepard. Nah I think he meant this guy is an inspiration (not a father since leakes show the ending that he will be locked up in Arkham forever) to heath's Joker after he goes insane since many believe he was a former military soldier. Joaquin could even deserve an oscar nod for this, he's one of the best actors out there, but... his relationship with the academy is really bad, he won an oscar for Walk The Line and the talked shit about them and was basically banned. His performance in The Master, which was hands down the best one of 2012, wasn't even nominated. So even if he does the best job ever he won't even get a nomination. @@scottmiller4295Comics have NEVER explained Joker's origin. In fact the creator of the Joker is very against it. This whole movie will honestly cheapen the character IMO. The Joker isn't scary because he has is a clown, he is scary because he is the embodiment of chaos, irrational, unexplainable, and unpredictable (The polar opposite of Batman). When you give the Joker a backstory, this becomes another tale of a bullied person seeking revenge and blah blah blah. They would do better to focus the story on Harley, a SUBSTANTIALLY more dynamic and interesting character. Chaos in character form is a great story element, but it is not a great story. The ex-psychologist seduced and driven mad into a semi-romantic relationship with a sociopath? THATS an interesting story. This will be a sob story trying to turn Joker into a tragic hero. Yup,he's perfect as the Joker & looks like he's not just acting but living as the Joker just like Heath. That's an amazing actor!
He has experience playing a lunatic! He played emperor Commodus in Gladiator
Con Fidential- I know- exactly what I was thinking! I loved him in Gladiator. So creepy and so evil.
The smile and laugh he does in the trailer made me feel uneasy. I can't wait to see it!
Azhraeya which is how the Joker really is. He truly is a tragic character wrapped in a twisted comedy.

Think you might be right on this actually
Actually, in the trailer you could see that he has a medicine bottle near his desk when he was writing down on that paper. So my guess is that this joker sufferes from depression and Arkam is where he goes to pick up his medication. The scene where he asks the black dude "What" looks like him about to pick up his medication and then something happened even furthering his issues. Like if hes now unable to get the medicine he needs for his depression or whatever he might have.

BIG heath ledger 😭
If you notice, at the beginning of the trailer, when he's walking up the stairs, he's hunched over and looks beaten by the world, a defeated man going about his life, but at the end, when the transformation is complete, he is dancing up the stairs, having the time of his life. You can notice the gradual shift from defeated man, trying to get by in life to maniac detached from reality who's finally become the Clown Prince we all know and love....
Just like the comic killing joke
But hes actually going down the stairs as the joker to represent his descent
Wooooow that's amazing!! How did you notice that?!??!
Yeah... That's... pretty phoned-in actually.
he's dancing down the stairs. That could be symbolism. While he's trying to be good and climbing up the society ladder, it's not working for him. But the descent to the underbelly of the world is what's making him feel real good.
The trailer was realeased on the 4th of April in Australia time, Heath Ledger's birthday

They might be able to save Leto's Joker after all. I thought maybe in the next movie have Phoenix's Joker go up against Batman, kidnaps Robin (Jason Todd) breaks him physically and mentally pushing Batman to breaking his code and killing Joker. For every massive blockbuster that comes out, pertaining to a comic book character, smaller intimate films like this should also come out as a counterbalance.
