    what i like about the body work end of their show is even if they wind up with a pile they generally carry it the job through. their metal work clean enough and they demonstrate what any one who wants to do their own car can do with the right amount of determination bondo or no bondo they aren't grind and fill piles.
    just get out there and get to it. these cars don't build them selves.

      Dustin Babb Not sure if we’re referring to the same thing. I understand where in the process they are with the body work. However, they could’ve wrapped or cover the engine and other mechanical / electrical components to either not get any dust inside them or keep them clean and dust free. They’re not doing any body work in the engine bay itself.

    We never put plastic on top of primer. If it is just primed metal (without already having plastic under the primer), we remove the primer completely down to bare metal, rough it up with 36 grit (or 80 works) paper on a d.a., clean it, then apply filler. Filler doesn't stick to primer just like it doesn't stick to paint. Well...it will stick long enough to get it out the door! Unless, you know...something's changed that I don't know about.

    • @troyeberling2432
      @troyeberling2432 4 года назад

      Most modern body fillers and glazing putties will adhere to an epoxy primer which is an excellent base layer. When body filler cures it creates heat. That heat can cause condensation between the body filler and bare sheet metal that could potentially lead to failure or rust down the road. Acceptable loss for a daily driver for collision repair but not a $60,000 restomod that still has to look good 40 years from now.

    • @troyeberling2432
      @troyeberling2432 4 года назад

      Even original stampings had flaws in them. Look at the quality control of a 1960's mustange to modern mustangs. Much tighter panel fitment and alignment. The old dies also have a lifespan. they become damaged and distorted over time.

      @@brantardrey7360 It must have had Horrible Fuel Economy too. No Vacuum Advance on the Distributor, even Cheny's LT1 had that, and it was putting out more HP/cubic inch than the 289. I am referring to the Stock Configs.
      My first car was a 1966 Galaxie with the 289. It's Main and Con Rod Bearing were so worn, it several bearing Knocks. It sounded like a cross of a Washing Machine, and a Tin Box with several Marbles bouncing around. However, I abused it for 4 years and it never blew up.
