Lincoln stickers on the hood but Miller gets the work done!
The Power of Blue!!!!
No professional powder coater would have done that. I blast every frame I do to white metal , outgas, prime and topcoat. And by the time they are done assembling that gloss black will look like semi gloss black.
I really like the episodes when you guys go into details with body work and welding tips. Teaching while building is a plus.
I seen this car at a show a few years ago. They took a lot of short cuts and the rear wheels rubbed the quarters . I could go on and on.
I'm glad i don't have to watch this on TV, commercial breaks every 5 minutes would drive me nuts!
I'm loving this build.
61 impalas are gorgeous!!!!! Especially bubble tops!! 🤤🤤🤤😍😍😍
I had 2 red an a blue an white. Love them.
Welcome to Half Ass Auto, staring Dur and Duh.
Explain how you can powdercoat over rust and why would you want to if it creates peeling down the road ?
You clearly didn't see them removing the rust before they powder coated it. Wow, you people don't pay attention
@@lowe1988 2:26
The frame still had surface rust when they started coated. Clearly seen in the video. The frame really needed media blasting.
@Gman 2060 9
Why would you powdercoat anything? It is only a matter of time before chipping and peeling happens and when it does, you can't do a damn thing about it but start completely over again.
I've cut it 3 times and it's still to short.
Good work man
This was a great episode, with lots of detail on the metal replacement. You guys deserve much credit as that's a lot of work.
Powder coat over rust?
I've seen this car. They left a lot of rust in it. They welded panels over rust in places. The car was not done correctly at all.
2:26 - Great job on the rust removal - Ready to rock
It's called surface rust 🤦🏾♂️
Diddy Doodat And that’s how rust starts, on the surface dude. Do you work there and are trying to justify shoddy work?
maybe I missed it but, it looked like they powder coated over rust to me
I thought the same, wait for a rainy day to take it to the powder coating place? POR 15 might be a better choice
Thought the same, but maybe the rust removal got edited out....??
At 2:26 looks like a nice cracked weld where he is attaching the ground. Great job love the vids!
I think these guys are more actors that car guys !!!
They are more hacks than anything else
outstanding!!! imho the 67 c2 sting ray was the best looking vette ever, and the drop top was the holy grail @10:39
The chassis is pitted and rusty, why are you power coating it that way?
Art Morrison frame is wtg
ha i recognize you from the entertainah's channel... go big blue!
Cheesey show
Anyone know what happened to the final episodes of this built? I can’t find them.
The powder coat brothas...
Just found this channel, this is everything motor trend and roadkill should have become.
Those 4 doors look good fixed up there was some young guy that own a white one like that lowerd with chrome wheels, that was the first time I took interest in 4 doors can be cool to if it's done right. My neighbor owned a 1949 Desoto 4 door in the early 80's we cruised all over San Francisco San Jose Sacramento bay area in that old classic 4 door bomb oh and it had a ship horn in it that would scare the heck out of pedestrians
I love impalas
Can you tell me anything about using old sheet steel from a underground fuel tank its thick can it be treated in any form to use as patch panels or floor pans
Nice
I love how Rick doesn’t use gloves or a jacket when he’s welding or plasma cutting
Those old Biscayne / impala wanna-bes are cool.
The extensive rust on this project would of been a bit over whelming for myself,it was deep.
Was that oil smoke coming from the vett lol. Only good vett 55-56 steel body
12:07 That 0-60 is the same as a modern smart ForTwo LOL
What happened to the LeMans? Is there a video dedicated to it's launch or is it just those clips added to that one video that shows it as a cameo?
A better way to attach that bracing to the underframe (Super Labor Intensive) is to do it Aircraft-Style, that is, precisely drilled .250" holes and Military-Grade Blind fasteners (MS90354S08-xx).
Smeared with plenty of AC-730 Sealant.
I was going to show this to a friend doing his first total restoration but after seeing those undressed beads and all that rust you power coated over I would never show this to anyone and will look at your feature builds with a healthy dose of skepticism...
Just get your friend to read the youtube comment sections i'm sure he'll find all the info he needs 🤣
I agree, didn't understand why they would powder coat over the flash rust!
@@BryanM362 Didn't sand off the rust on frame or media blast the frame. 🤦♀️
Powder coat on rust? My local guy wouldn't touch that without sandblasting the metal clean. These guys can afford to do it better.
First of all it was surface rust. Secondly, did you not see them remove the rust in this very video? 🤦🏾♂️
Lol thats not removing rust. Removing rust means zero left. That surface rust needs to be blasted to remove it from metal pores or it needs to be chemically neutralized
2:26 - HMMMMMMMMMM - that orange stuff must be a special adhesion promoter called Fe2O3 epoxy rust zapper - TREMENDOUS - GREAT job stuff (I think that is its full Trademarked name).
Diddy Doodat That’s a lousy job of prep before powder, don’t stick up for work that is half ass.
Surface rust (flash) will get encapsulated. But I get your OCD and agree with diligence.
No offense but those plating welds looked pretty bad. I'm sure they'll hold but yikes guys!
Like Stevey Wonder welding with his feet.
Bruh the way he said impahla lol
The Corvette wasn't the first Fiberglass American Sports Car, Kaiser Willys offered the Kaiser Darren 161 before the Corvette was introduced, the Darren was all fiberglass and introduced in 1952. Only 485 were build but it was still first. The Corvettes first year saw very low production figures as well
I'm surprised it didn't fold in half with no bracing...
Will a 64' Impala floorpan fit a 64' Buick Electra?
Think so. Both are B bodies
Dream job lol
what was the removable pins to hold the panels in place for welding called?
Found it, Cleco Pins...
0:17 Don't stay in fourth for to long!
Why you have sandblaster, if you paint it on rust after rain?????
What?

Inside frame rails...rust.
That's not how they prepared my frame for powder coating.
This video is from like 2009 and the car was finished in like 2011.
I Know right
my favorite parts are when they're working on a car... then they go to different segment, and you can see the finished car in the background
The chassis is placed in the oven naked to de-gass the steel , not to dry it out !! If you don't do this , bubbles appear in your coating , no one should powder coat over rust , bad practice
Had this guy that had $$$ and thought he was fast with his 67 tri power 427 vette.. My buddy had a 66 tri power GTO that had visited Royal pontiac and had a 421 loaded under the hood with all the treatments. The Vet guy challenged him.. and Lost big time. That was the 500 dollar first run. He said he would be back in a couple of hours. We sat at A&W drinking Rootbeer floats. He showed up having super tuned his Vette at the Speed shop. Well he was only a car legenth behind that run. He wanted another chance. That round cost him 1k in money. So he showed up at like 3am for one more shot.. Well He lost by a fender... He was stoked but coughed up the 2k and drove off.. We ended up pushing my buddys GTO into a farm turn in for a tractor and getting a tow home.. See Larry blew up his Munci in 3rd gear and actually still coasted in beating the vette....... Well At least we had some $$$ and the money go buy one of them M22 rock crushers for the GTO
why did you not blast it after you pre heat it, you powdercoat the job on rust, im a powder coater, that was not a good practice, it will soon chip off
Guys I need the full episode of this project please 🙏
Power coating Sucks! I had rims done for a Vega a few years back. I sand blasted them clean. Sent them to my local powercoater. Mounted tires on them
and used the car. It was not long before I got stone chips and started rusting under the powercoat. They bubbled rust under the powercoat. Best to use a good wet primer and top coat. I personally will never do it again. Powercoat is baked at 400 F but can chip fast too.
maybe you should powder coat the body too! 🤔
I was expecting higher quality work. I would be very upset if someone did such rough work on one of my cars.
Poor workmanship. Powder coated over rust. Didn't sand off the rust on frame or media blast the frame. Frame was not checked for square and level. Many rough spots on frame that didn't get ground down and smoothed out. No inner support for frame. Very bad Tac welds on body sheet metal. Its a clumpy mess. One of the cross members/bracing was pieced together. Should of been one solid piece.
I didnt get episode 11 !!😔 Pls help anyone
At the end look like you were watching him weld with no eye protection? Not good for teaching on a video and metal with no eye protection.
Still the best build series regarding bodywork they ever did.
Drum brakes are weak? Why were they used on semi trucks then?
Big difference between a big rig and a 4000lb car.
This guys going to the hospital not for coronavirus but for metal fragments dust in their lungs

Most of the classic terms for auto's were derived from horse drawn carriages.
1st for red sled ayeee
at 2:09 minute i see rust on the frame. and he sprayed the color on the frame !! ????
we clean parts with sandblasting or dry ice blasting for a clean ground !
Busted. IPhone dash holder @12:27

Чет халтура при подготовке, перед покраской рамы. Да и проще отпескоструить было наверное перед покраской.
Another RUclips er' told me disk breaks are for cowards!
It's not an 61 Impala that's a 61 Bel Air
In stead of putting those stupid flames underneath you should have spent your time practicing your welding and grinding that chassis was horrible why would you send that to be powder coated just horrific
That's not an Impala.
it is to them..lol
Seeing it as a "post" car is why i clicked to watch. Cool car nonetheless.
Yes it is - 1961 was the only year an Impala 2 door sedan was available as well as the more popular hardtop. The 6 tailights, wider side moulding trim/mounting holes, dash & steering wheel confirm it's an Impala. On RUclips there's also a video of a '61 Super Sport 2 dr.sedan 348/350 Fawn Beige & Almond Beige. "Big John" plays in the background.
Art Morrison frame way better
AllI see is total rust powder coated over, junk!
Goddam !! That's a lot of work. The cars a Swiss cheese of rust, but, it'll come good. Some commenters think they are building the Pyramids, but it just a car, made of metal, it'll rust again in another 60 years.
Look, when a car has as much rust damage as that POS... You throw it away! And there was absolutely no reason to reinforce the rear part of the frame as much as these clowns did... You act like your putting in a Pro Mod engine, Geeeez...
Powder coat over rust, chuck marks everywhere you drill? Someone send them back to school on how to work with metal properly.
TheAggromonster that had like a quarter inch gap!
Looked like a crappy powder job. When done right it should be completely smooth , this looked like a preschooler painted it with water paint. A scuffing with a da is not rust removal and 5 minutes in oven does not dry it out completely, can you cook fries completely in 5 minutes in oven?
ok can't find e11 .... no need to subscribe
qq
There is no reason to fix a car like that un less it for a costumer and he is paid if a lot
What?
Sorry, but no... the frame prep was ... not so much. Grind that frame smooth, welds, and ruff spots before even thinking about taking it to the powdercoater. Powder coating over surface rust.. no.. powder coating without sand blasting? No.. But I am not a pro like these guys..
What was that?
Cut twice measure once
Or measure once and cut twice.
I don't know u car pepe's come with the darnedest things.
You heard the pro's Leroy cut it again. I measured once upon a time. Hehehehe.
Y'all make more vidio's K ?
Awer car might look that good if we had some fancy unyforms like them little fellers. Hehehe.
Dang that's some good grinder smoke. Pass that grinder over here leroy. Hehehe
Literally still covered in rust...it's not going to last. Powder coating is overrated, 2 part epoxy coating would've been more appropriate.
sean5comet powder coating is crap. Before I could finish the car my frame was bubbling all over . Done by a professional shop, actually paid them money to f -up my frame. Next frame was dipped to de - rust and E-coated, then por-15. Still looks great and that was 2002.
First
Total waste of money and time no integrity how in the heck are you powder coating over rust that Frame is going to pill big time The powder coating guy said they were the leaders in powder coating buissnes.
To powder coat over rust is One of the biggest no no's in the business you might as well have powder coated over oil.
