I was thinking exactly this as I was watching. Absolute guitar goddess! And the two guitars give me a kind of Television-y vibe in how well they complement and support each other, and each do interesting things at all times.
People complaining about her voice: you do know this is indie rock, right? Sometimes more enjoyable than a perfect voice is reaching for that one note and not quite grabbing it. Lighten up.
you are talking to the generation that has grown up watching fake-reality TV shows where douchebags do karaoke versions of NSYNC songs to a backing track, and we are supposed to call them talented musicians
frarfarf I assure you no person who finds this music great grew up watching singing competitions. This is good indie rock. Compelling in its imperfections. Move along if you have nothing to say.
@@sonichallbartender dude you could not have misunderstood me more if you tried. Firstly, I love this music. My post was talking to 'the people complaining about her voice' as the OP referenced. I'm nearly 60 and this is some of the best songwriting I've heard in a lifetime of loving almost every musical genre. Her band is super tight and this is a real pleasure to immerse myself into. A rare talent.
Reminds me of the best local bands of the 90s nobody ever heard, like your favorite local band that should be something but are probably too cool and not chasing a trend enough for people to see them correctly. Plus alot of my favorite bands from back then too. They feel natural and real, a band with actual personality. I love how thats becoming more the focus with people instead of genre concepts that become parodies. All those cool bands didnt know what they were, just who they were, which they couldnt help or wouldn't want to change.
This comment is the one! Always look for something different and new out of a live performance, that’s what makes it worth revisiting. Also big ups for Melted, one of the greatest garage rock/psych punk records ever!!
She sounds amazing! I don't know about you, but I rather listen a vocalist with lots of feeling and emotion than "perfectly" sung performance with no sentiment. This show made me like them even more now
As a former member of 1988-92 fuzzy guitar rock with pretty vocals genre I love that these kids are doing it so well. Pretty voice with in- determinant chords a wash in fuzz; what is not to love?
So good, her voice is unique... I love MUSIC I'm not trained just a Fan of a lot of genres n as an olden.... 42 ... I LOVE hearing what this generation listens to. These fellas have a very mellow n beautiful vibe, many blessings to ya guys!!!! Namaste!!!
i've only recently found this group, but in the short time i've known them, i've listened to lush 25-30 times and i'm going to see this them week. god damn - they are AMAZING.
"Heat Wave" is my song of 2018. She's so much wiser than her years and a voice like a beautifully untuned-violin.. Holy crap and playing MSG in 2019!!!! The interaction with Megan is R-E-A-L.
YES!! Been waiting for this to be posted!! I was touring KEXP the afternoon this was recorded and was able to sit in on the majority of the performance in the sound booth with my husband and my 6 year old son!! SO AWESOME! This group is going to be HUGE!
As someone who typically enjoys heavier rock, this is not exactly what I expected to enjoy, but I’m loving this album, primarily for Lindsey’s vocals. 👍
Just discovered this band yesterday and really enjoy their music. When I first got into playing guitar, alternative/grunge was what I played. This reminds of that time of my life. This band is super talented!
I love this album. It reminds me of the music I listened to when I was their age. Especially The Swirlies :) and the tip about The Alvvays was great. I didn't even know about that band.
5 years later and still fucking excellent. just noticed we play the same amp! Ampeg Reverberocket 212. Such an underrated rig and I was overjoyed to see one in the wild in such an excellent band.
huh, normally i like their album versions a little better, but this recording knocks it out of the park for me. looking forward to seeing what they do next!
Just watched a great live Sleater Kinney show from 2015, on RUclips and the singer from this band is in the front row dancing with a huge grin on her face! So cool to see a spiritual link between these two great bands!
I have the same one in the same colour. Always kinda wish I got a jazz master instead though, I coukd never part with it though it has way too much sentimental value now
Ok look..if they are on kexp then they ALREADY made it!! This is where established, touring acts come to die, no jk, but really, you wanna find undiscovered groups try your local, all ages venue.
You know how hard it is to play this song and sing at the same time? The way its played most of the time is so difficult to keep your mind on the words and timing.
did anyone else try and listen specifically for a guitar mistake/out of key note the whole song and not finding one? she is classically trained in guitar apparently which I think is a cool factoid. her voice is so strong in this set. Awesome sound engineers too.
There is an EQD board episode about it, she's got a boss tuner and a mess of EQD's plus a boutique phaser, she's got the giant multi knobbed distortion, a chorus, a date corrupter, an arrow, the boss, the phaser and one other thing I believe, I think the board episode is 25

I will, she rips. Plus that jag sounds fantastic!

Is good, I agree 🤙
Her unique vocals are definitely much better. Her guitar work is great for sure.
She's not a bad singer either!
People complaining about her voice: you do know this is indie rock, right? Sometimes more enjoyable than a perfect voice is reaching for that one note and not quite grabbing it. Lighten up.
I think she has a good voice its just that when you see someone live, they should hit the notes of their damn songs man.
I like her authenticity and lilting, shifting notes. It's real music, man.

Yeah. Make me feel teenage again listening to this band, when music and the world seemed a little more simple.
that was a fun nostalgia story that has no basis in reality
Idk, this band is fine but they sound like literally every other indie rock band from the last 8 years.
Tyler Davis couldn’t be farther from the truth
yes! i miss Velocity Girl.
3:27 the way she says "find" is way different than the album version and it's such a nice touch
sounds like built to spill.
cloudwatcher I was thinking they sounded like a slightly more mellow built to spill, with a female vocalist. Idk why but they just do.

The way she sings "Slug" in the Audiotree performance is my personal favorite. She puts a little distortion in there and it sounds so fucking good.

Her voice is so STRONG! Obsessed with this band. I can't wait to see them live in Richmond VA
As a 41 year old this reminds me of the music i listened to as a child. Pixies and such. I love it keep it up
This is exactly why KEXP is the best actual introductory on new music. Well done Snail Mail!
God bless that drummer. She often slows the time just enough to create anticipation and he keeps the beat steady

20:04 when she couldn't get the lryics "we can" out in "we can be anything". That made me feel some typea way man oh man
it's so good. I love how much intensity she puts in her singing even though the songs seem quite 'monotone' - it really does it for me.

Very happy that the band got a recording contract. Their first release (Lush) is exceptional. Can’t wait to hear more.
She has awesome voice, it is like new dimension
This brings back memories of when I started listening to indie rock in the early '90s and why I fell in love with this kind of music
Fabulous, saw her supporting Interpol at Madison Square Gardens. Love it!
That’d be awesome. This would be the perfect band to get me stoked for my OG NYC gloom merchants.

They should do a cover of "1979" by The Smashing Pumpkins. This is just a random thought lol, but I'm sure they would sound amazing.
That would be cool.
