Here's how this normally goes for me. Randomly discover an artist in a playlist that I absolutely fall in love with. Dive deep into live shows on RUclips and then inevitably find out that Tiny Desk had them on 4-5 years before I even knew about them. You guys are the best!

@@mholder1324 I mean no disrespect, but I completely disagree. I dont find the lyrics of thinning to be profound or moving at all. They read to me as exactly what they are; (the work on her debut is significantly better) where like you said, they dont need to be compared, but again, these days is a song lyrically that is so far ahead of its time that 50 years later we are still discussing it.

Layla Parsa what do you think was meant by her at the end of slug when it was asked to the slug, why do you hide under our feet since you would never find anything in the spring? It was an enigmatic lyric, seemingly nonsensical.

I think it's always hard to pinpoint what an artist is thinking when they write a seemingly deep lyric like that. Beyond that, she's nailed the 90s alt-rock vibe down exceptionally well (and you can definitely hear some of Mary Timony's influence in her playing style). She's just getting started. Slug lyrics
    Oh garden slug
What would you give to live like one of us ?
Or would you rather wait in the shade?
    Just the same as everyday
    Oh useless thing
What does another useless day bring ?
Did you just lie in place ?
Emulated by the way I lie awake
And in the waves I could've sworn that I saw myown reflection
And it was someone else's in the back
I could've waited my whole life to
    Know the difference
But I should've just known better than that
And oh is it easiest to hide?
    Under covered rocks
Or would you rather cut it all down?
Just to keep it from dragging you around
And in the waves I could've sworn that I saw my own reflection
And it was someone else's in the back
I could've waited my whole life to
    Know the difference
But I should've just known better than that
So if you look death right in the face, don't thank him
Because there's nothing and there won't ever be
And in moss covered springs you'll never find anything
So what's the use in hiding under our feet ?

yeah so its nearly been 2 months since you left. i tried to get through today without being upset about you but every day i try that it just gets harder. i sat down to listen and i could only hear you in every song. i guess the nature of snail mail's teenagery heartbreakiness meant that i shoulda seen this coimin. these songs are so powerful in that i can hear myself in them, i can hear you in them. i can hear the way you loved the autumn, i can hear the sun that rained on you and the yellow that you wore. i can hear the day you left in them as well. i can hear all the arguments that lead to the end. and today, i can hear that as well. lindsey jordan's diaries inside this video painted the exact image of me right here. sat down, begging myself not to cry again.
its going to be a long time before i stop missing you.
thank you snail mail, knowing i'm not alone is saving me.

I don't know what it is but her music and voice somewhat reminds me of Mineral, maybe because of the way she kind of stretches it and forces it to reach the higher notes to almost screaming, thing that I love so much, you can really feel what she's singing. Oh, and also the lyrics are kind of (really) super sad too, just as Mineral's.
