  • Meet Sean Rosen, a young, highly-accomplished individual with Asperger Syndrome, and with Dr. Sally Bloch, who not only specializes in Asperger Syndrome but who just happens to be Sean’s mother. Sean and his family have been through a lot together. As a toddler, he began to exhibit some unusual behaviors, symptoms of something they didn’t understand at the time: short attention span, clumsiness, withdrawal, irritability. And yet, he was OBVIOUSLY intelligent, inquisitive and very creative. It wasn’t until he received an accurate diagnosis that things began to add up.
Learn about this family’s challenges and successes and Sean’s remarkable achievements.

The mother nailed it, "hard work and patience", plus a tough skin that sheds other peoples indifferences/callousness toward them. Remember things can get a lot tougher when aging, just expect more of the same, yet best attitude is be kind to everyone ~~

I like how they tend to respect Asperger’s rather than talk about it like it’s a disease. I am a woman with high-functioning Asperger’s syndrome living in Japan striving to become a manga artist and I am doing this all myself without the help of my parents. But, finding friendship since my last breakup is very difficult because no one wants to come and say hi to me and also, it’s very difficult to keep a good conversation. Especially with international friendships.

The host asked the wrong questions. Aspergerers do not feel wrong about themselves... just different from the current majority standard.

I've found asperger syndrome helps me in some areas and hinders me with others - e.g. being alluring to women I'm attracted to for one thing. So it's kind of like some areas you can't believe others struggle with that you find easy, and other things you find difficult that you can't believe others find easy.

That is exactly what I say! Things that are hard for me are easy for others and visa versa.

Exactly, why was I able to ace biology exams without needing to study much, yet couldn't ask a girl out for a date, or understand schedules, or budgets.

You are pathology. Asperger's needs tolerance and accommodation not treatment. There are two possible responses 'mall adjustment' one is manipulate the person into conformity, the other is to accept the person as they are.

@RATED marijuana for Aspergers? Yes and no. I have Aspergers and smoke marijuana daily; one puff in the morning and one InThe evening. I’ve smoked for 35 years, and don’t agree that’s it’s entirely negative. For me, it’s a great relief from my isolation and depression. But it certainly can cause increased anxiety and psychosis if abused. Everything is a trade off
